>got my engineering degree in 2015 from the top #1 university in my country
>worked with supply chain consulting for 8 months
>got hired by the client after a consulting project. it's a FMCG & fortune 500 company and I work in their supply chain department in a nice position
But my dream is working with investment banking... is it too late?
Every IB analyst I see in linkedin also worked with finance during internship...

>graduated in 2014 with a degree in engineering
>no jobs, yet the country keeps importing more engineers every year
>been working shitty part time jobs ever since
A stable full time job would be great right now. Something like IB is way out of my reach, and probably will be for the rest of my life. I hate this country (australia), i want off this ride now

>investment banking
declining industry and its not at all what you think it is
you want the hedge fund trader position and you can still be one by investing your money you make as a supply chain analyst or whatever and building a big track record
if youre successful investing money then shop out your track record to trading firms
if youre shit at it then just keep your current job

>if youre successful investing money then shop out your track record to trading firms
how does this even work?
>>h-hey look at my P&L, hire me please
i really doubt they hire randoms and not guys already in IB and sales and trading

i think she is saying "fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffuck"
No don't try investment banking it's impossible to move up in that area of work I would consider a hedge fund if you want to be involved with finance. Much higher and competitive pay and you'll be rich if you can just keep a job at a hedge fund for a few years.
The biggest suggestion I can give you is to network in the industry. IB is an entire field based on relationships.
You clearly have a track record of academic achievement and a work history at the Fortune 500 level. Your experience in your industry would be valuable on a deal team that works in that industry.
