I've had Carbon X1 since inception and it's been fucking bullet proof, been around the world several times and lightest laptop made with full screen for travel.

>>
>>1698551
what kind of business are you faggots doing?

all my laptop has to do is get and send emails, buy shit online, and maybe run quickbooks and turbotax.

like the cheapest laptop you can get at Walmart does all that stuff.

BEST laptop? any one that turns on and goes online and doesn't overheat or die every day. That's it. I have a bunch of them, all different brands. Some of them are still running Vista. IDGAF

For standard business?
Anything under $200
Very few business fields require anything that's "top of the line"
Hell, many businesses can be run from a smartphone now a days.
It's really like what >>1699757 said.

Do you really want clients to see that you basically feel that "computers are difficult" when you bring out your neutered Starbucks machine?

in most cases a number scrawled on a napkin should be sufficient.

I doubt anyone here has a business that gives powerpoint presentations to clients reviewing hundreds of excellent options. If the did they can run the thing online from the clients computer/projector. Or use their own if they're meeting on home turf. Neither way requires lugging around a laptop.

if for some weird reason you're presenting somewhere without internet you'd have an assistant to haul your computer and projector anyways. Let's be real, this isn't anything anyone here does.
>>
>>1698551

Anything that runs excel without lagging
>>
>>1699838
You're obviously basing your opinion on imagination, or what you've seen in tv shows or movies.

The standard setup for meeting rooms is either a projector/ tv with a hdmi, which means bringing a laptop you can plug in

The rarer setup usually involves a pc linked to a screen or projector which requires you to bring pres loaded onto a cloud drive or usb.

Again, your comment about having an assistant haul your equipment just isnt true for everyday businesses. You're just basing that on what you think a mid/senior exec would do.

>That's it. I have a bunch of them
Perhaps this has a connection with those laptops being poses that will break if look at it wrong way.
>>
>>1699757

why would you have more than 2 laptops ant any one time? are you a hoarder?

Thinkpad P50 with the dual Xenons, 32gb ram, the workstation graphics card, and the 4k screen.

Will work like a charm, can do visualization, looks nice and will run really well.

or a macbook if you are 12 years old and are thinking of starting a weed business or "it's uber but for...."
>>
>>1698551
i think this really depends on what kind of biz you are in. if you are a graphic design guy in san francisco, then you need a macbook pro to be taken seriously. that same macbook pro would get you laughed out of the room in other circles. are macintosh computers even able to run excel?

in other businesses, people couldn't care less or even notice what brand of laptop you have, so just get the laptop that meets your minimum requirements. depends.

my work gave me a lenovo laptop. i spilled tea on it and it stopped working. the lenovo sales guys mustve got my bosses drunk and plied the m with tight escorts.

12inch macbook of course

windows is useless if youre not playing games or doing anything other than basic office shit, of which i do neither, and i cant stand ubuntu/any other linux as something i have to look at all day.
>>
If you don't use a Thinkpad x220 for daily /biz/nezz then you are an faggot.
>>

was it the consumer-tier laptops? Thinkpads keyboards are water resistant by essentially being a water container with a drain to the bottom of the laptop.

If anyone here is in Canada, canadacomputers occasionally has decent deals on new / refurbished business laptops. I got a new T530i with a FHD (TN though) screen for CAD$450 there, almost comparable to used thinkpads except you don't have to worry about cum ever getting on it or something.
>>
>>1700605
i don't really remember much about it. this was few years ago.
>>
>>1700605
are refurbished business laptops really that much cheaper than new consumer ones?
>>
>>1698551

What's the best value I could for something that is:

Lightweight
Fast
Does basic business functions along with basic streaming/video play
An additional amenity would be high quality display

Doesn't have to be the cheapest, just the best bang for buck with these features

In terms of specs, no. If you're going for a business laptop, it's for the build quality. The Lenovo T-series are built like a brick. Heck, I actualy wouldn't recommend the T5xx series as a laptop because they also weight like a brick. Commuting with one to my uni was a pain.

Refurbished business laptops are most likely the only way (other than buying used) you'll find older models of laptops. Otherwise, buying a new business laptop is as expensive as buying a Macbook.

Any old business laptop (even if it's an i3) will work for most day-to-day applications once you slap in an SSD. Obviously no gaming, whatever you save not getting a dysfunctional gaming laptop, put into a desktop instead. A gaming latpop's going to stay plugged in on a desk anyways on some laptop cooler so it doesn't catch on fire.

>>1700695
didnt know they got up to macbook prices, crazy. aside from those i only ever considered getting a cheap chrome-book thing and throwing linux on it but those things are flimsy af
