Hey guys, I'm majoring in Finance and minoring in MIS. Can I expect 65k out of graduation if I'm generally a chill happy dude with an internship or two under my belt?

internships are key. where you do the internships is also important.

Just get an internship with a reputable firm and don't be autistic. It's not hard.

Yeah you'll probably make $65k after undergrad if you go into investment banking. Otherwise you'll be looking at $40k-$55k depending on where you work.

When I started at Barclays (immediately after undergrad about 5 years ago) my singing bonus alone was $10k with end of the year compensation (all included) coming out to about $75k. You can expect the same if you have a nice resume, have networked well, and land an IB role.

You should be able to make 65k in a big city like Chicago. I majored in finance and econ at a middle tier private university. Ended up with a job in Chicago right after school at a High Frequency Trading Firm with end compensation (bonus + salary) coming out to 80k my first year. My only recommendation, besides the things you listed, is to take a few coding classes in college. At the very least force yourself to learn it in your free time to become competent in it. That skill alone will open up so many more doors in the finance world that your non coding classmates would never have a chance at.

why is it useful?
