If you try trading forex without knowing what you're doing, you can get terribly burned. That said, it can make you very rich as well. Both losses and gains are amplified because of leverage

Look it just depends what you want to do and how smart you are. If you rigorously apply yourself for 1-2 years at learning forex it's the better play for someone looking to earn money in a shorter time. Of course if you rigorously apply yourself for 1-2 years, you still might not be a profitable trader, but you'll never know if you don't try.

If you're not 130+ IQ, good at programming, or know a successful forex trader, I would just buy safe stocks/etfs and hold long term.

Serious question about options
I've heard that options is like 3D chess and stocks is like 2D chess
meaning there is a whole extra dimension you can fuck up and lose
for example if you would go long a stock you would win while if you bought a call option you could still lose even though going long would have won because options add another dimension of complexity where you can lose.
