Good play by verizon or no?
Now I have to find another browser to use. Jewrizon will do some weird shit to yahoo I bet.
>>1401033
From what I've read, Verizon barely touches the web companies they buy. They just want the billion users per month yahoo pulls in
Brb buying yahoo stocks
>>1401050
You're late.
>>1401000
I saw Microsoft once offered Yahoo 43 billion. Yahoo is the #2 English search engine with the best liked finance website and the #1 fantasy league.
I think its a brilliant buy for 4.8 B.
What will this mean for yahoo employees?
>>1401049
Ex yahoo staff here. Everybody at yahoo uses google.
Side note, Alison Bree smells like flowers and pussy juice. I wish I could say I fucked her but I only elbowed her left tiddy. She knew what I was doing and smirked. Best day of my life. Gillian Jacobs gave me head tho but it was meh.
>>1401066
You work there?
What building if you do
>>1401070
Building B
But the real question is ... who's buying Twitter?
>>1401072
Kinda wondering what you do because building B is management and cafeteria
>>1401080
No, you're thinking of C. B is "science and technology"
>>1401078
Nobody. Twitter is fucking dead.
>>1401000
Terrible.
You are going to put the worst wireless brand and the worst search engine together, with all of the baggage that Yahoo has for what exactly?
The only reason I can see them doing this is that they are going to spin off and sell a shitton of companies to other services.
Tumblr gonna get shut down though.
>>1401082
Not in NY.
>>1401085
West coast best coast
>>1401090
I like you kid.
>tfw yahoo isnt even worth 5 dollar shave clubs
>>1401000
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.
I JUST SOLD MY YAHOO POSITION LAST TUESDAY
FUCK EVERYHTING
>>1401083
Can someone explain to me why this seems to be the consensus? Twitter is used by pretty much every celebrity, corporate organization, media outlet, elected official, etc but people constantly shit on it. Is it just a case where people doubt they'll find a successful monitization route?
>>1401093
<3
Too bad I'll be homeless within a week
i didn't even realize yahoo was still a thing.
>>1401105
Exactly this. How can a platform that is an essential aspect of any organization or celebrity or politician be worthless? The fucking President uses Twitter. The CIA has a goddamn Twitter (and it's sometimes funny). It has to have SOME value long term
My 89 year old grandmother knows what a tweet is. I understand that doesn't mean much, but it's universally famous so that has to be worth something
Nothing new here lads, just further consolidation of media.
Your daily approved news will be delivered shortly.
>>1401105
How the fuck do you monetize it? This is the problem with a lot of these all these social media websites/apps. They're fucking over valued traps because everybody jumps on the bandwagon. Its a bubble that started with Facebook.
>>1401106
What do you do at Yahoo? I've got friends in sanfran that could get you in places.
>>1401135
I work in infrastructure, cloud services. Something quite similar to AWS actually
>>1401142
Wanna email me your resume?
>>1401142
If you do actually get laid off
>>1401162
Everyone knows 4chan is the next LinkedIn
>>1401165
I'm not gonna lie, advice on /biz/ has made me more money than LinkedIn, which I think is worthless
>>1401155
Using 10minmail for your first email. I'll message you another email after.
[email protected]
>>1401169
Sucking dick is literally more profitable than a LinkedIn
>>1401155
>Tell you 10minmail
>You dont email me within 10 min
Brah

There is another thing to consider.
A lot of Twitter users get obsessed by the site for a certain number of months... then they get burned out (by what I'd call the "Twitter fatigue": their obsession produced nothing worthwhile in the end, all their followers feel barely human to them, people simply become meaningless numbers on a screen...), they delete or abandon their account, and they never come back. Or if they come back, it's not the same thing anymore--they don't have the same level of engagement, they become distant and casual, and Twitter can't make money with that.
Meanwhile, a lot of potential new users don't even consider using the site, because they don't know who to follow. Following celebrities and the CIA? Okay, but it's not "social". It feels empty. You have no reason to subscribe if you have no one to talk to. And Twitter's focus on celebrities is detrimental, because it separates you from finding actual new people. To most people, Twitter feels like a huge entity that moves without them, and there's no handle to catch whatsoever.
So the userbase is slowly bleeding, and fails to rejuvenate. Meanwhile, Twitter still isn't making money on all this, and all attempts at displaying more ads will be met with discomfort and discontent.
Twitter is exciting and famous as a website... but investing-wise, no one knows if it's the ultimate value bet, or a dead cat that will be as relevant as MySpace in 10 years.
t. bored Twitter user with thousands of followers
>>1401212
I did though
>>1401212
Use guerrilla mail or tutanota
>>1401084
I thought verizon has pretty decent coverage. But this purchase just makes zero sense to me. I didn't even remember yahoo was still a thing. Only bing could ever compete. The only thing yahoo still has going for them in yahoo finance, but that is it.
>pic unrelated
>>1401068
this cunt ruined yahoo...
>>1401142
Are you on the manhattan team?
>>1401084
>Tumblr gonna get shut down though.
What?
That would suck, it's great for following furry porn artists.
>>1401050
F A I L
yahoo isn't worth the poo particles in my asscrack. why would verizon do this?
