I said talented. Talented people can make it in ebook publishing just fine. Hackery is rampant though.

Before everyone jumped on the ebook bandwagon the average ebook netted about 25-30k per year, with that jumping to more with successful serial writers. Now it's plummeted to a mean of 5500 per year. You can still "make it", but you have to distinguish yourself in terms of quality.

Hence, talent is still key in this industry.
