I'm in south Florida doing odd jobs on yachts. I can't seem to find a job on a yacht permanently. Should I got to Texas A&M Maritime Academy. I can pay out of pocket for two years.

I'll be a marine transportation major. So I'll graduate with a 3rd Mate Rating in the Maritime Industry.

Not a genius in maritime but in general being able to pay for school and get some documentation of education makes you look better. Since you seem to be able to pay for it, would recommend.

how did you get into doing odd jobs on yachts?

how much do you get paid?

Do you enjoy it?
>>
I say go for it

I do I get sometimes ten an hour sometimes twenty. The more odd jobs I do the easier it is for me to work on a yacht full time. I'm not getting enough daywork to support myself full time.

I hope to work on a yacht full time till fall starts. Then I can go Texas A&M while having saved up enough for another semester or room and board.

I get these odd jobs by living in ft. Lauderdale and having basic maritime safety cert along with an ENG1.

I graduated from there anon. Making bretty good mo ey with Military Sealift Command now. I'd suggest it, ROI is pretty untouchable at least starting out.

Ft Lauderdale life long here. Yachties are shit tier with their scooters. Also, if you can't get a job on a yacht your literally not trying. We just had the boat show ffs. Call national marine and see how you can get crewed up.

Source: I know 98 people in the boat industry from cap to crane operator to guy who worked on forbes boat

It's not that easy. Every job seems to demand 2 years of experience.
