I can go to the doctor right now, be seen by a specialist in 4 hours, and have my surgery scheduled for 5am tomorrow morning (a Saturday)
The same process:
US: a day
Can: 3-5 months
UK: 6-16 months
Your surgery is free. Mine costs me $180 a month. Take your pick

Canada here, specialist appointments take ~5 months for most, GP appointments which you need for referral to specialist takes about 2 weeks usually AND they're always late by at least an hour or two for your appointment so you spend the whole day there.
Surgeries... Well in some parts of Canada they don't even perform some surgeries because they can't and it takes upwards of 9 months for an MRI in some parts and only then you can get started with waiting up to a year or longer for your surgery.
I just had a surgery and one of the surgeon's waitlists was over 10 months so I went with the one that only had (luckily) had a 4 month wait.

I've broken bones before and decided to go to an orthopedic surgeon because my insurance allows it. I was seen within 2 hours, Xrayed, and casted in less than 4 hours.
Its actually frightening to know how long some people wait. THIS is the system they want in the US and people are brainwashed into thinking its a good thing.

The worst part is, well i'm assuming it's different in the US but here doctors respond very lazily since they're not getting paid directly by the customer so if they can manage to make appointments 5 minutes long each that's more $$$$$ for them.
They tend to push you out of the door as fast as possible, like answering a question or two(lazily) then literally starting to walk away.

Like I've had doctors straight up answer a question half-assedly and then just get up and start leaving the room, pretty much subconsciously pushing you out since asking questions to someone who is leaving and clearly uninterested doesn't work too well.
