I'm almost 22 with a GED. Been working on my own and for my family's business. I want to go to school. Is Khan Academy a good place to start before I go to college? I don't want to look like a retard. I plan to go to community college then transfer to a public state university.

Why do people say this?
There are plenty of shitty CC's and plenty of great ones. The one i'm finishing up at has an accredited engineering program and an excellent math/science curriculum

Do your research. If your local one is shitty, learn as much as you can then transfer

>Why do people say this?

Because it's easy as fuck, the people there are generally retards and degenerates and also anyone can teach Community College classes. In order to be a University professor you need to either have PHD or be a PHD candidate and usually have a lot of publications.

Are there any ways to make money that is actually fun?

How do you motivate yourself to do work , i just want to sleep and play video games.

Every hobby that I have turns to absoloute shit the minute I try to make money with.

I feel like the only way I'd do work is for someone put a gun to my head and forced me every step of the way.

Even then I might just let him pull the trigger because I'd rather be dead than spend a single day of my life working.

Day trading is really fun once you get into it but you need to study up a bit and not be a fickle trader. What you need is a hobby that revolves around money, then you won't have that dilemma.

>Inb4 you cant time the market

Yeah yeah, everyone knows, but surely theres some general symptoms that occur before an economic downturn arises. You cant time the market, but purchasing shares when theyre at a discount is optimal, and since recessions are guaranteed its just a matter of waiting to purchase at a discount right?

markets are efficient, you're not getting the same value for a better price because the underlying companies have worse prospects and might not do well in the short-medium term.

For example look at the Euro STOXX 50, it's just barely 50% above it's peak value now.

Trading is extremely difficult but if you're persistent enough and learn from your mistakes then you might be able to make it. I'm trading stocks right now but I do have about a year of day trading experience. I mostly day trade forex and futures and the most difficult thing for me has been managing my emotions and sticking to my trading plan. I spent a few years trading demo accounts before I risked any money and I can't stress enough how important it is to have a defined trading plan that you can stick to. I highly recommend that you try out stockfetcher, it takes a while to get used to but it really is an excellent tool.

How do we get away with tax evasion? Should I try?

>dad has been growing weed for 10+ years and is excellent at it
>it gets legalized in my state, dad quits his job to grow full time
>we made about 150k first year and is shooting for twice that
>me and my brother are both going to setup operations under his supervision
>hope to be making 200k within 3-4 years after learning and ironing out the details.

The problem is we don't really know how to do taxes when it's a cash business. We get paid in cash only, even in bulk sales, and we haven't formed a business license or anything like that. I heard you can't buy property and spend lots of cash without proving where it came from so I'd like to do it legally if possible. My dad bought a kilo of gold and seems to think we're better off living well below our means and putting it all in to metals which I find questionable.

Start a cash business
>>car wash
>>grow supply store depending on how much you really have

You're spending money on products already might as well sell other grow products to farmers
>>
If your dad has credit get a loan from the bank to open up a money laundering business until you an get the proper weed license
>>
Sounds like my dad, keeps saying to buy gold. Might try and buy some to diversify my savings.

I believe you can start a llc to report earnings. You will have to pay taxes and all that, but you can write off equipment purchases.

Do you own your own domain name, /biz/?

Like for example, let's say your name is John Smith. Do you own johnsmith.com or johnsmith.org or johnsmith.net?

Is it worth while to buy your own domain name? It's only like $10 a year to own the domain name, it's sort of like 'property' but on the interwebz.

Think it's a good idea to buy my families name, and then each of our firstnamelastname.com's?

>>
Yeah I do... Because why the hell not.
Don't really use it much, but it costs friggin nothing, so given that occasional plebs might find it impressive, I decided to do it.

Talking of domains, i once had the opportunity to buy some insanely valuable domains likeTesco.com and Britishrail.com. before domain squatting was illegal. In the 90's. If I hadn't meh'd like a procrastinating pleb and spent the money on booze instead, is be a fucking millionaire today.
I used to be mates with the dude who owns lemonparty. He once made 80 grand selling a single domain name. I fucked up so hard by missing the domain name gold mine.
Anyway, I digress. Yeah buy your own domain. Its so cheap that if you're even considering that it might be a good idea, then it probably is.
>>
>>959417

Yeah, I wasted so much money on -online game credits- that were not refundable or I got hacked from me, at least this thing is something I own.

I'm looking at it like it's real estate basically, which it kind of is...
>>
I own a three letter domain with the first part of my first name .nu

But considering it costs like 30 euros a year and they asked for a personally identifyable number Im not too fond of it. And I still use zome other generic domain for email.

I'm a 19 year old web developer and I'll be making 70k annually starting December.

My goal is to learn how to turn this money into more money before I have any real responsibilities and to have enough saved by 21 so that I can support myself while pursuing entrepreneurial ventures.

My only expense is my phone bill, and I'll probably finance a 10-15k car for my 20th birthday (March 29th)

I started at 44k in May and I get raped on taxes (2k biweekly check comes down to 1500~). I'd really like for my income to start generating income, but I dropped out in the 9th grade and I only have very basic knowledge on micro-economics.. I grew up in the inner city and I never seen money like that before (1k is laughable now that I see how fast it burns).

/biz/, what is this money thing and how do I manage it??
Help a negro out.

Your first shitty life lesson is that you can't do the fun stuff unless your parents handed you money. Before investing in real estate/stocks/business partnerships you're going to need:

>6 months expenses saved up, including the average rent in your area (this is for emergencies)
>No debt.

Look at the interest rate on your debt and remember that to balance it out, you need an equal amount of money earning an equal amount each year. Simply pay off the debt for effectively guaranteed returns.

Once you have those two things, you can start saving up for investment ventures.

All right /biz/, first time poster here.

I'll try to keep this short since I don't wanna waste too much of your time. How viable is it to earn serious money through stock trading if you're a decently smart guy? I'd like to think I've got good quantitative skills as I've got a Master's in applied physics with a bunch of advanced graduate mathematics and mathematical modeling courses. I've also got some good experience with programming and algorithms.

So yeah essentially my questions are, how hard is it to earn a good living from trading stocks? (I'm assuming extremely fucking hard but any input would be nice). Anyone here make good money from trading stocks?

How much starting principal do you have?
>>
>>959228
as I recently graduated... not a lot. I'd say I've got $2000 at the most that I could stand to lose.
>>
>>959233
If you're going to trade big boards, you're going to lose money on $2000. As soon as you enter a trade, assuming you go all in, you're already down 1% due to commission.

Big boards don't move enough for you to make more than $50 on a 3-5 day swing trade.

You need, say, $100,000. Then you can make some real money.

That said, I started with 3k in 2013. My gross account contribution over the life of my account is 5k. In 2.2 years, I grossed $90k, netting $47k. So, it's possible. Just not likely.

What's wrong with 9-5 managerial position?

Be in charge of a team of software engineers (or better yet, be a director of team leads). Focus mostly on the managerial aspects. Engineers that are promoted to manager spots often times aren't very good

Banana code is 4011, cauliflower is 4549 or maybe that's brocolli. Anyways you get chips or like something like that's breakable, put them over to side for bagger instead of letting them pile with cans and shit on conveyor.
