Mortgage question, I can never really get a straight answer about this.

I've got £82k left on my mortgage £8200 to be exact.

I'm paying it off pretty quickly but I wanted to know is there any point to putting smaller amounts in aside from the monthly payment and overpayment.

If I had a spare £50 is there any danger to dropping it in the old mortgage fund? I understand this is 0.06% of the total fund but does every little help? does every little add up? IS there any point?

>I've got £82k left on my mortgage £8200 to be exact.
82,000 and 8200 are very different numbers OP.

How long would it take to pay off at your current rate?

This matters because the faster you pay it off, the more interest you avoid. Lets say, after 30 years, paying an extra $50 today would have a significant difference due to the compounding interest that would have accrued had you not payed it.
>>
>>965020

It depends entirely on the interest rate, which you haven't provided us with.

Do you think we're oracles?
>>
>>965023

82200... my bad.

At my current rate, It'll take 4 years. to pay it off.

I'm currently living in the US (although I'm In the UK RIGHT now for meetings)

So I have lodgers paying my mortgage which I'm also overpaying

>>965029

again, my bad, 4.95%

Hey /biz/ so iv been wondering why so many people strive towards regular lives instead of trying to do big things. Most people's passion can easily be translated into an entrepreneurial venture. Are people just lazy or just wanna follow the cookie cutter shit that society puts on us.

18, currently in college and working on a business with a couple of friends of mine.
>>
I know way too many people who got ruined trying to do a business. They lost everything and in Germany that is not a good point in your resume. That is why I prefer a 9 - 5 job. I go to work, surf on 4chan and go home and can relax the evening not thinking about money. With each year I earn more money. I mean if you don't care not getting rich then it is a totally fine life.

Anybody has any experience with P2P lending? Is it better than bonds when it comes to the risk/return ratio?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>964636
no. What happens is this. This also applies for crowd funding type of websites.

A lot of commercials loans get rejected by banks because of crazy high risks, the company has loads of debs etc etc.

They still want money so those companies (usually start ups ) tend to turn to crowd funding and other online loan financing plans.

The risks are much higher because if the company had a solid idea or structure it would have not ended up online. That´s where all the garbage goes.

Be me:

>late 20's
>net worth of $100,000 in cash, stocks
>make $55,000 per year
>spend 10 hours at work staring at a computer
>spend 2 hours commute staring at smart phone
>spend 4 hours free time watching tv
>that exhausted at the end of the day can barley be fucked cooking food
>spend weekends resting from work week
>have 0 friends outside of work
>struggle to have any relationships outside of work

Be my slacker pot head cousin:
>late 20's
>0 savings
>lost license due to DUI
>works season jobs then blows it all on having fun
>always socializing or doing something fun
>one month working snow fields in Canada, next month working construction in Europe, etc
>has large circle of friends and multiple girl friends

What's the point of working my ass off and living a miserable life just to have a "comfortable" retirement when I'm too old to actually enjoy it?
Who's the real dumb-ass? Because I'm starting to think it's me...

Here is your problem, and the problem with most people after getting a job. Complacency. Cut that 4 hours time of tv to 1 hour or record it and watch on phone during commute. Spend the rest of your time honing your skills and and finding a job with a less shitty commute. On the weekends, use it as a test to throw yourself into social situations. Say hello to passerbys in the park, start talking and just fucking do it

I'm in the same boat dude. I got an epic job recently that pays more than anyone I know and even though I have more money than I can spend: what is the point if you have no time to enjoy it?

So far, I haven't spent any of the money I've earned. It's just accumulating in a huge account. Like what the fuck. And apparently this is success ...

Holy fuck, I think I hate accounting. I'm a first year student and also have accounting course. I mean I'm trying to be good at it but my midterm marks aren't top tier enough, but passed regardless. Should I avoid the accounting major? Should I get into financial services instead?

Thanks /b/ros

I was in accounting but I just switched to finance. Not because I wasn't good at it, but I went to a couple of networking events and was surrounded by asian robots and patels and could not picture myself fitting in with them. Not sure if finance will be better, but I'm looking at pursuing the Certified Financial Planner designation, I really like talking to people and trying to help them. If you can't get intro accounting I'd get out now.

Which are the best sales jobs? I work at a solar company where the salesman get paid a $60,000 base + $400 commission per sale. They're not hiring, and will not be for some time.

Which sales jobs have decent base salaries with commissions?

Hey /biz/ I'm thinking about opening a little shop, im in a state where weed is illegal. I wanna sell weed related shit, like bongs, weed vaporizers, rolling paper, and etc. Anything against the law about this?
16 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Nothing illegal about selling them. There's 3 in my town and it's an illegal state (rec and med). They aren't very profitable businesses though.

Hardly anybody is going to buy more than one bong or vape. You won't have many returning customers. And the margins at these shops are small, forcing you to raise prices. Why would I pay $5 for rolling papers at one of these shops when I can buy them for a dollar at 7-11?
>>
>>964053
I agree with you 100%
Do you have any ideas for a similar shop? something that can turn out profit.
