Don't forget: Moody's and S&P had to RATE the securities as "AAA". Their reputations are forever besmirched and it comes up A LOT when ratings discussions are held.

Has anyone here actually used something they learned on /biz/ to make money in the real world?

There was an eBay thread on /biz/ a while back giving great advice. I went on online classifieds and found a few small items I've flipped on eBay for easy money. I've made about $950 total profit doing this the past 3 months, *very* part time, maybe 3-4 hours per week.

Has anyone else made actual money off of threads they read on /biz/ ? If so, what was the advice and did you make enough $$ to make it worth it?

Because predicted inflation from QE hasn't materialized and there are productive asset alternatives. There's no investment demand for silver.

I have two questions for you:
- What kind of job a piece of shit like me could ever do to at least help my mother? I don't even think it's possible for me to work.

- Can depression and a personality disorder give me access to somekind of social security if I can't work?

Any input is welcome.

Ride a bicycle somewhere that volunteer work is done and ask for a volunteer job. You won't make any money but you will gain skills that are far FAR more valuable than flipping burgers. You will also make contacts with people who can give you real employment. Go every day and volunteer if you can manage. There won't be any expectations of competency or particular skills that can't be shown to you in under five minutes.

You'll dig a lot of flower beds and organize a lot of donations and carry heavy shit around, but most importantly you'll be building up a profile as a dependable and helpful person and making contacts. Inside of six months you should be able to able to find someone who is willing to pay for some odd jobs or perhaps train you in a skill.

You guessed right, I don't think I can do such thing.
I think I'm going to try to overcome my fear and kill myself instead. I really don't see myself getting up everyday and doing something I don't like for the rest of my life.

I actually worked one day in my life, at a supermarket. It was awful. I left the first day...

Is there any type of profit made from buying very small amounts of land? Like a sq foot or something. In up and coming neighborhoods or rural lands.

you can buy a sq foot plot of land in Ireland and Scotland for like $20. they don't allow you to build anything on it even if you buy like 100 of them (dont think they let 1 person buy 100 anyway)

With more and more merchants abandoning Bitcoin...what went wrong?

Nothing went wrong, solid progress is being made. Rome wasn't built in one day. Go study.

The problem with bitcoin for me is that it's just a technology, and numerous other coins are in the market. So it just ends up being a contest on how hard someone can shill for their particular coin.

It's literally a meme currency. Remember doge coins?

Bitcoin is the first of course, but that doesn't mean it will be the last one standing at the end of the day.

And lastly, the price is too volatile to actually be utilized as a currency.

That being said, it's a great high risk investment if you get in at the right time, and get out at the right time, unaffected by the emotional arguments. But not at these levels, not with a rate hike by the Fed in the pipeline.
>>
I'm not saying Bitcoin is going to the moon but these kind of threads remind me of people who first criticised revolutionary technology like the home computer or the internet ,it's still early days and we don't know which way the wind will blow.

You're no better than Bitcoin shills because you have no valuable insight or knowledge to share with us.

Hi biz,

Sorry if this is a common question here. I'm making a video game and it's maybe a third done. I need money to finish it, but not all that much, really. So I've been looking at the possibility of a Kickstarter campaign. At first glance, it seems almost too good to be true... Show your game to the world and watch everyone line up to give you their money. But really looking at their stats and what others have said about the experience raises a few red flags.

First off, the fact that these giant studios use it is discouraging. A project like "Shenmue" (which looks like absolute shit, imo) is already funded and backed by Sony, yet they run a campaign on KS and raise another six million dollars. Kind of goes against the whole concept of "crowdfunding," doesn't it? There are lots of projects like that. They're just using KS as free advertising because it's a hot topic right now... oh, and, why not pocket an extra six million bucks while we're at it.

Second, it's said in a lot of places that you need to go to your friends and family for support because that's how most campaigns reach their goal. WTF is the point of that? If I had friends and family rich enough and willing enough to fund my project, why would I need to go to Kickstarter? And why would I want KS to take a cut of my friends' and family's money?

Third, there's apparently no longer an approval process... So any horrible project can just jump on Kickstarter. So a project that's actually decent has a lot smaller chance of being noticed in the 1000 other game projects that now flood the site.

tl;dr -- is Kickstarter a legitimate way to fund a project or has its time come and gone?

Knowing that it's Sony, they probably needed the $6,000,000 because their company is in shambles right now. This isn't my area of knowledge, but why not just try Steam Greenlight?

Nice quints by the way.
>>
KS are still good, assuming you have some type of fanbase. Like, do you have a blog where youre posting updates and people actually want to see this game get done? Would people want this game to get done so badly that theyd share it with their friends and suggest they donate too etc?

You cant just start up a KS without any prior fanbase and hope people will take a look at it and donate.
