Sorry if this the wrong board, but my landlady just tried to enter over an hour past the time she said she would. I told her to come back another time. I don't think it was nefarious or anything. I am in good standing and they seem to like me but I do smoke weed in my apartment and I think at least one neighbor knows about it. Should I send a confrontational letter to my landlord so they respond and acknowledge it or should I just let it slide and use it as leverage if necessary? Man having your landlord try to bust in when you're not wearing pants and stoned is bad news.
Canadian btw
You can smoke crack in your appartement if you want. Landlords must state that smoking is or isn't allowed in the contract.
If she is an hour late and you're in good standing then let it slide
>>982355
You should let it slide, and no that's not valid 'leverage'.
Obligatory;

Hey everyone, so as we know, hacking exists, and its very profitable, provided you find the right game and the right people who buy hacked items which is not as hard as you might think, since you just sell it, without saying its hacked. The upside is, you can make alot of $, but the downside is, you can totally mess with a games economy if you over do it.
There is a game I play, & there are a group of hackers, mainly 1 real hacker, and 2 other lackeys that sell the hacked items, and they have 1 person that sells to people now, while they sit back and collect the $
>1 hacker gives items to 2 guys
>2 guys hold different hacked items and give to 1 guy to sell to players
>1 guy is able to make a bit of $, while the 2 guys make a bunch for not much work
>hacker gets paid a cut of every single deal
We're talking like $5000 a month, split 40, 25, 25, and 10. The kicker is, these guys are only 19/20, so it's basically just free passive income.
I would like to get into this, hacking games and selling items, because the money is very good for someone like me who doesn't like to work a day job or have a boss or anything, and I'm in university (Finance Major, top school).
My question to you guys is, since there are many programmers amongst you, where should I begin? How does someone actually learn how to hack a game? I have basically no programming knowledge, but I have 8 months of free time right now, and I'd like to put that to good use learning a new skill, and I think programming/hacking might be what I want to learn. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
Also, does /biz/ think its worth the effort to learn how to program/hack, to be able to make a few thousand $'s a month in passive income, doing maybe 5 minutes of work per day, and just logging in to distribute items? I already have a game in mind by the way, and it's according to the hacker, very badly made, so that's why he's able to hack it, with his beginner skill level (he's actually only 17).

How did you guys get out of debt ( if you were) ?
I owe 2200 on a credit card (maxed), 300 to Argos, and 200 to Very. Once I get this shit paid off I'll never again take on debt cept for a mortgage. Think I need to do a balance transfer on my credit card to stop paying interest for a few months. I make 1000 a month, gf makes same. We also get commision on sales, 100 at best. And we pay about 800 in bills a month, not including paying off debt, travel, food, etc . This is fucking awful, what did i get myself into
>>982047
Second job looks only feasible way
>>982047
I went to a mediocre state university in the USA with a B average.
Worked throughout highschool, worked throughout college, got out with 26k in debt, paid it off in the next 2.5 years by taking a shitty IT/customer service job for 40k.
Making double that now (year 4 out of college) but I still don't have shit to show for it because my car eventually broke down and ate my gains.
>>982047
First you slap yourself for being a bloody idiot.
Then, you move heaven and earth to get yourself out of debt. Prioritise the ones you pay the most interest on. Use and abuse balance transfers and 0% interest - some cards are 0% for 24 months or longer, do your research and use money comparison websites. Live frugal as hell and see if you can take overtime or maximise your commission. Consider selling some shit on ebay to speed the process up. Also, don't feel above good old fashioned begging - if you have any living grandparents they're a good bet (parents resent being asked for money, grandparents feel honoured to be involved and that you'd turn to them for help).
800 in bills seems fucking steep. Most of that is rent, right? That still gives you over a grand (combined) to play with. It shouldn't take too long to get out of debt if you're aggressive with it.
Since you're a UKfag check out debt charities like Stepchange.
You're lucky you only have 2700 total debt, some people get into the tens or hundreds of thousands before they realise just how deep they're in the shit. Hopefully you'll know better than to repeat your mistakes.
Is Etherwall the best GUI Ethereum wallet for Linux? Is it trustworthy?
Dunno, is there really any point in getting one of these alpha clients? what do you hope to do with it?
Im speaking as someone who isnt a coder, im just in ether for the moolah.
>>982048
Is there a better way to store Ethereum? I just want a way to store them on my own device rather than trusting a website to keep them safe.
Anyone here have experience with inventing/creating something, then getting a patent for it as well as pitching the idea to someone for funding?
I had an idea for an invention, a couple of month ago. What would be the best way to pitch this idea with someone with the capital to fund it, and make sure they don't get the chance to steal my idea and profit off of it?

do you honestly believe this is an amazing groundbreaking idea which will immediately be in high demand in every marketplace around the world yet you have absolutely no clue on how to design/create/market said idea?
during a beer conversation, a friend told me about an idea for a niche market and said that we both should get on board with it.
If i told him that ill take his idea and design and make a working prototype for him to sell to the said niche market and if he does a little bit in the process of design like suggesting placement, how would I fill out the
patent?
I'm pretty sure on the business side he gets half of the profit, but do I sign my name alone on the patent?

Is saving 500 a month acceptable for a 31 year old with 15k in savings? I'm fairly savvy and frugal and always have some kind of investment working for me (not just stocks, buy and flip cars/ items in general).
So, is that an acceptable amount to save per month? I have a few short-term goals to reach: 50k by 35, 100k by 40 but those are very generalized and could happen sooner depending on what I invest in and my propensity to learn even more in the next 9 years about money and investing in general.
Also, what do you currently strive to save each month, age, etc..
First let me ask this question.
What do you want?
>>981694
>>981694
Honestly, nothing really. I want to save money. I want enough money to eventually take smaller risks and make nominally the same amount I would from leveraging up currently. Overall I want to have a good amount of reserves over time. That's vague, but I don't require much money to live now and don't really strive to live a grandiose lifestyle should I ever fall into some money or save a good amount of money.
>>981681
Since you don't have any concrete goals, it's impossible to say whether 500 is appropriate. Your milestones will allow you to make a down payment on a house, I guess that's a good thing.
You may already realize this, but money left to sit in a bank account is more or less wasted. Bank interest is just a notch above putting your money in a coffee can and burying it.
Build up a reserve appropriate for your income security and start thinking about building an investment portfolio, or using some of that cash to improve your income.
I'm 27. I don't make much and my freelance work can be spotty, but my expenses are low. Trying to put away 500-1000 a month. My goals are to build some cash for an IRA/conservative investments, keep a reserve of 1yr expenses for emergencies, and leave something for some projects that may or may not turn into businesses.

So I started a job six months ago as an intern, working with the only two people in the department. When one of the two left, I took her place as an associate. And now, my bosses's boss has informed me my immediate boss (the only other guy in our department) is leaving in a month.
So in the span of six months I'll have gone from an intern to the lead of a department in a large corporation.
Problem is I don't want this fucking job. That's why my bosses left. Now I'll have much more work and I will feel quilty if I leave, as I've been applying all over and hoping to abandon ship. Now, I don't know if that's an option, since once I leave our "department" (all with one member, me) will vanish.
My current boss handles pretty much all communication between all the other departments we work with; and he's really good at it. I'm damn near autistic and will be expected to fill that role.
How the fuck do I handle transitioning into a leading role that I'm vastly unqualified to take? Do I even ask for pay and title raises, especially if I'm going to be leaving soon anyhow? I went from 18/hr to 30/hr after I took my one bosses's job, and my other boss implied he was making six figures.

or take the job and just try your best. keep some other jobs on the back burner if you fail
I wouldn't expect them to hand over his salary to you...his duties, of course, but not salary...unless he's been there like a year.
Try it out for a while and if it doesn't work find another job. There might be a lot to adjust to but that will taper off; so you just have to be willing to make mistakes and keep showing up at work for the next however long.
Alternatively, leave now.
>>981555
>feeling guilty
Don't. Do you think companies feel guilt when they fire people as the only way they can "raise profits"? Hint: they don't.
It's nothing personal, it's business. Do what's good for you, and put yourself first. That's what the company is going to do too

>>981264
Two possible cases here.
1. You're the next coming of christ gifted with flawless intuition and you can do no wrong no matter what
2. You took high risk positions and through some combination of skill and a lot of luck came out on top.
My money's on #2 and my advice to you is not to get overconfident. When I first started investing I did very well and I started thinking "this shit is easy I'm the next warren buffet" and I took too much risk and it all collapsed and I lost 90k in 2 days, leaving me with half of what I started with. overconfidence is the worst possible thing you can have for investing. It may be cliche, but slow and steady wins the race.
>father is doctor and makes a gross income of 750k per year

>>981261
Are you retarded? Live like your income is 50k/year, for 4 years, and save the rest of your money in an investment account. 130k is more than enough to get a solid financial advisor to help you with this.
After that 4 year period, if you haven't gone full retard with your spending habits, you'll have a nice bit of change in your savings/investment portfolio and can start growing it faster.
