I just sold my company, and it turns out I love selling but hate running a business.

What sales positions should be at the top of my reach?

Also interested in products and industries that will make big waves in the future and need educated salesmen.

What should I sell to get good commission?

Looking at cars/vehicles or maybe boats. What else?

Thanks man, I only have an associates degree, so my understanding is that servixe sales (payroll, insurance) will walk me. I might just use them as interview practice and do some big dick swinging.

I've got a friend who has made a killing in solar upgrades recently, that kind of thing is exactly what I am looking for.

Can a stock market bull please explain themselves?

Let's take a stock like Amazon. What is it trading at? 80x earnings? Kek, it has to grow 80x just to break even with its valuation.

No one is it business to break even. To buy it you must unironically believe it's going to grow 160x.

A-are you on acid?

Yeah, yeah, "markets go up in down, but in the end they always go up a little bit"

Just because you repeat that over and over doesn't make it true. Look at a 30 year Japanese chart. STOCKS WILL NEVER MAKE A NEW HIGH IN OUR LIFETIMES.

A special thank you to all dip buyers over the next 30 years, you are directly funding my vacation home in Malibu. Oh gee, look at the markets today. It's a good "opportunity" for dip buyers.

So, Kickstarter is pretty much dead... Yeah, there are still a lot of projects there, but the idea of Kickstarter is dead. They've dropped the approval process and are just allowing anything to be posted, so it's kind of memed out at this point. Sony does a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3 and raises six million dollars and that's pretty much the last nail in the coffin for the chances of some little independent project that's actually interesting and original raising $50K.

Coincidentally, here is another thing that is dead -- the music industry. Now, here is how to fix both crowdfunding and the music business. Start a new crowdfunding platform with the following rules:

1) Only digital media projects allowed, i.e. music, games, movies.
2) The project must be delivered digitally and DRM-FREE.
3) You may NOT charge for the product after the funding campaign.

So some big-name band wants to release a new album. Currently, they end up turning out a pile of shit because:
1) They know that their record label is going to take 99% of the revenue
2) They know that 99% of their audience is just going to pirate it
3) They know that the only chance of making any money whatsoever is to sell out completely and try to be Justin Bieber so that they can sell ten billion copies to 14yo girls

This new crowdfunding system solves all of that. No record label is involved. Piracy is no longer an issue. If you think your new album is so awesome that you should make $10,000,000, then set that as your funding goal. Your fans will decide whether or not you're right by voting with their dollars. If you're wrong, then stop being an arrogant asshole and set a more reasonable goal. If you're right, then congratulations, you get ten million dollars and the world gets your new album and no one has to get sued by the RIAA and Richard Branson doesn't get to use your fans' hard-earned money to buy a new island.

Youve got some good ideas here. Now whats stopping you?

Good question, I kind of thought the same thing as I was typing it. I guess the fact that I'm slaving away on a game project. I was planning to take it to Kickstarter in a couple of months, but everything I see tells me that KS is a lost cause.

So I am going to go ahead and steal this idea. Thanks Anon!

Bitcoin: The law of the handicap of a head start

You can compare it to Altavista just waiting to be forgotten and taken over by a Google.

Gulden will be the digital currency of the world and everybody will forget Bitcoin.
What kind of development has Bitcoin had last year?
Nothing absolutely nothing and Gulden just keeps developing.

Just look at Gulden their timeline and see the progress: https://timeline.gulden.com/

Now they have a service called Nocks where you are able to pay with Gulden everywhere they accept Bitcoin.
This is going to be transition time and Bitcoin is going to die!

GULDEN > Bitcoin

I would like to move to the US for work, how are my chances? Should i stick to german firms or would US firms hire a foreigner like me? Or would they rather not because of visa trouble and so on?

Also, any tips on 'american' style CV? any templates? Thanks

How's that working for you?

If you can't afford to save what you're about to buy right now, then you shouldn't be buying it.

Save an entire month's paycheck so you are a month ahead, and then budget with what you made last month. No longer living paycheck to paycheck.

Save a few month's of living expenses in case you get fired or laid off. Put that money in a Money Market account or a short term bond/CD until you need it.

Don't get loans for cars or trucks ever. You don't need a brand new car you consumer kek.

Don't loan money to friends or family you aren't okay with losing.

If you want to learn something, buy a textbook for the subject, not a book by some journalist "guru".

Don't marry a woman that doesn't at least hold a Masters Degree and doesn't disrespect her family, or people in general. The less relationships/sexual partners she's had, the less drama there will be. Go for Asians. White girls are shit tier. A rare black woman with a Masters degree is god tier. There is absolutely no reason what so ever to ever have more than 2 children, if any. Get a dog or 2.

Take up an outdoor hobby such as golf, fishing, hunting, etc. Don't be a pasty white fat ass.

Eat right. Cook all of your meals. Buy fresh veggies if you can. No processed foods, fast food, soda, etc.

Set a cleaning schedule so you're always cleaning something. Wash dishes you use after you finish eating instead of letting them pile up. Clean your fridge out once a month. Clean your toilet once a week. A dirty house is a gross.

Can we get a /biz/ness clothes thread going?

I haven't heard much talk lately about what to wear to interviews, haircuts, etc.

Can we discuss do's and dont's of suits? Here's what I've been wearing lately by I haven't been having much luck with interviews, hopefully it gets a little better as I have a few more coming up this week.

Pic related, it's my business suit.

What do rich people spend money on?

I'm a married engineer just starting out at ~50k/yr; my wife is in med school.

We're on the road to being wealthy, but we're already living very comfortably on this 4k/month.
Don't care for
>big houses
>super cars
>stupidly expensive "Organic non-GMO" bullshit food

Sure I don't have the latest computer hardware, that shotgun I wanted, and our summer vacation was a little less than a week; but those are pretty small purchases in the scheme of earning >400k/yr together.

Middle class goes into debt for things rich people pay in cash for. Big houses, fancy cars, expensive clothes, etc.

I worked for a guy that makes $1.5M a year when I was younger and he's become a mentor to me. He still drives a 10 year old truck, lives in a house he bought in the 90s, and wears Target brand clothes.

He told me to save what I spend. If you are going to pay $300 for that shotgun or whatever, then save $300 as well. If you can't afford to save it, then you shouldn't be buying it.
>>

Anyone here in management consulting? Whether strategy or operations, whether Big 3, Big 4 or boutique. Share your stories.

I was going to start a thread on consulting.
What is consulting?

Can anyone with a STEM or business degree and some internships or undergrad research become a consultant?

For instance are there chemistry/chemical engineering consultants or (insert random field here) consultants?

Or is it only for MBAs?

Is it hard to get an entry-level job? Or is it easy because it requires a lot of time and travel?

This sounds like a field for me since I like travel and probably won't have a family soon. I want to study STEM (statistics specifically, I will also take some business and actuary courses), but don't want to get a masters. So is there demand for people with only a 4 year stem degree in consulting.

I am a consultant at accenture. It is really easy.
You will never use your background skills and they only take from accredited programs because 1) they can and 2) no one will hire them if you went to midwestern tech college of sciences and managing a team.

You can become a consultant if you prove to a recruiter you are smart.

I was lucky, went to the right school and wore the right suit during a career fair. People I work with are Uchicago art majors, northwestern psych majors and a few Michigan business school kids.

You can only get in right from undergrad or right from MBA school. The reason being they want to underpay you and you don't know your worth at those points.

Also, the turnover is incredibly high because of the brand name these companies carry. I'm only here for 2 years because I am getting too many job offers to run departments of companies.

"Oh you were a strategy consultant at accenture?? Do you want to run our chicago expansion office?"

Consulting will burn you out. You will do bullshit for companies that shouldn't have the leadership staff they have. There is always someone above you leading the team and delegating jobs to you.

Basically, it is someone hiring you to tell them how to run their business because it has been a mom and pop family run tire factory for 30 years and they are not succeeding anymore since supply chains made a north dakota pretreloum factory easier to access and cheaper.

Then your director says "give me a week" and assigns you to interview the supply chain people to find redundancies. Then you report back and your director says "Well you are spending too much on having 5 people manage your warehouse. This is the technology we can set you up with that makes that job automated."

By the way, that cost the business 220k a year. Which is cheaper than having 5 people on staff to do that job, but we don't make it easy.
