You really think anybody who knows how to make money online whether it's trading or some kind ofa business, will publically tell how they do it?

I mean if somebody tells on an online forum how they are beating the market and excactly they trade, you should be able to figure out they are not really winners. Nobody who beats the game tells how they do it. They might give you general advices and buying tips but they never reveal how they come to that specific conclusion.

The road goes on forever and the party never ends.

Is it just me or is real estate by far the best reliable way to grow net assets?

Let's say we have 20k to invest

In the stock market you could expect maybe 10% a year. After a year your net worth goes from 20k to 22k.

If you invested in Real estate...

-Get a 200k apartment with a 20k downpayment, 180k loan
-Pay about 5% interest over 30 years
-Pay about 900 a month, about half of which is interest
-Rent the apartment for 1.5k a month, and lets say 1.5k renting expenses each year

You pay about 5400 a year in interest, you get about 16k profit from renting the property, lets say 10k after taxes. So we're looking at upwards of 4000 in a year after tax, and that's not even including appreciation which is probably another 3%+ a year, which itself is about 6k

So in a year our net worth went from 20k to 30k, a 50% return

Seriously, what am I missing?

I'll make it quick.
>accepted to Penn State (the real campus) back in August after being NEET for 2.5 years
>defer to spring semester because it was extremely short notice
>spring semester starts next month
>receive room and bill tonight
>$14,072 for only the spring semester
>they didn't accept my sweet ~$2,500 in financial aid because I applied too late
>didn't get single room and roommate is asian normalfag, sent an email explaining how i'm very uncomfortable with this
>planned on majoring in electrical engineering, realizing that my math skills at least right now are fairly lame to what they used to be and have been placed in their College Algebra class and will have to take two semesters of maths before I can actually take Calculus 1

on the bright side
>grandma basically agreed to pay for the entire thing for at least a couple of years ONLY if it's this exact university and I go for this spring as she will otherwise give it to the next grandson on the list that wants the freedom of debt
>have been a NEET for 2.5 years so far, was accepted by sort of crafty means that I won't go into(i am a white male and have no money), have GED, basically should not have actually been accepted and sort of lucky

Would I be an idiot to not just do it? I've already spent the ENTIRETY of 2015 researching universities, telling my mother that I'm going to university any month now(planned on attending a community college on a quarter system out of state just so that I could move out, planned on using loans but was not eligible and plan fell apart). This is really my chance if I ever had one, but am I being delusional on whether or not this is actually a good idea? I would hopefully be given some financial aid next semester to bring down the cost to maybe ~$9,000 a semester. I really have no idea.

If you can get high grades\SAT scores then you might be able to get enough scholarships that you will be paid to go, so that would almost definitely be worth it.

>>985497
I've thought about that, but my grandmother wants to see exactly what the cost is from the university, and sure I could photoshop in 15K instead of 14K and pocket a nice $1,000 but I'm already glad she agreed to pay at all and she's not too happy about the price as it is and wants me to get some financial aid ASAP.

Hi /biz/, I have a few thousand bucks to invest and was thinking about building some niche websites. Is this still a good strategy to make money online?

Yes it can be profitable, affiliate selling or drop selling is highest margin unless you want to produce something (goods or information to be monetized), ads will probably not be worth it unless you have a lot of visitors but still worth putting in.

I was thinking about building several review aggregators, with useful info for people looking to buy these very specific products, while linking to affiliate programs and adsense.

How do you balance being successful in your professional career and your video game hobby?

Is it best to drop video games all together?

>Is it best to drop video games all together?

Yes.

For every successful videogaymer there's a million NEETs for whom videogaymes have ruined their social skills, school life, romantic relationships and work.

It's just a bad use of time even if you don't get addicted. You'd be much better off just spending it finding an interest in something productive. Many ex-videogaymers found programming, reading or games like Chess to be a way to have leisure time yet still not waste it numbing their brain.
>>
>>985069
sometimes u just need to go on a homicide spree to relieve stress and its better to do that in a videogame
>>
>>985065

kinda.

Anything more than 1 - 2 hours per day and I think gaming can fuck up your career aspirations.

Does anyone else feel like a massive failure due to not making shitloads of money from the internet or technology? I'm 23 and learning programming now, but I feel like I'm missing on a goldrush.

Every other industry feels shit and mature. You have a choice between being a capital owning person (due to the lower initial capital investments / qualifications required) in internet/ tech.... or wageslavery in banking / oil and gas / law... the so-called big money industries!

I don't even millionaire desu. Every month that goes by without a few cheeky tens of thousands in passive / low effort online income makes me feel more like a retard.

I am the exact same way as you OP. I spend all my free time learning programming over the last year. I am 23 and I feel like I am miles behind the other guys who have been coding since they were 12.

Trust me this industry is rapidly maturing also. But I feel like the next "upcoming" thing is going to be 3D printing. The 3D printing software market is untouched.

Take my word. Whom ever combines their skill with software into to the world of 3D printing will be rich beyond his wildest dreams.

Hey /biz/,

In want of a sticky, perhaps a few anons with notable credentials or accomplishments could provide their essential book/documentary recommendations for the rest of the board to benefit from.

Moreover, it would be helpful if we could collate common pitfalls/misconceptions and recommend more stable alternatives.

If we can accomplish something like a skeleton of a sticky, then perhaps some mods can further refine your recommendations and get a work-in-progress sticky started.

Like the CS Mathematics thread on 8ch, this can be accomplished if just one knowledgeable anon comes along and gives some solid advice.

The idea is to get a few knowledgeable people involved that can give advice in their own areas of interests.

If one or two people show up with high quality posts, we at least have a meme-infographic to post regularly. for noobs This will hopefully lead to a few focused threads that can involve people with the same pursuits. Look at /g/ with its several generals; the board may be full of shitposting, but within the generals you will often find a few people that are actually working on projects and giving advice to others.

This board is in its nascent stages and there is quite a lot of areas that we can start building foundations for right now without dismissing it as requiring too much effort.
