Do you ever feel like anything short of a full on renunciation of 4chan and internet leisure will kill any of your chances to achieve anything of worth?

I read from a reliable web page that bill gates: took math 55, the hardest maths course at harvard; would work for 35 hours in a row before sleeping (his room mate said this); would attend zero of his registered course lectures so he could attend the lectures of other courses instead. Add to that shitloads of programming as a teenager.

I read about Salesforce.com, business software that is famous and extremely successful. I slightly remembered that its founder was kind of a businessy guy. "Oh well at least I don't need to be a technical autist whizz, I can just bullshit my way to wealth." Then I go to the guys' wiki page and see that he made a video game company at the age of 15 which paid his college tuition and he coded in assembly at apple during university despite being a business administration major.

So at least I can be a philosophy bullshitter. Nope. Engels spoke ten trillion languages. Marx worked from 9-6 at the british library then went home and worked shitloads more.

Even in my euphoric late night motivational moods I am hesitant to say that this could be me.

Yes but look at Gates now. He's not even 60 and he looks like a corpse.

thank god, thats what i got, but my fucking trial balance is not balancing please help me bro i'll give you what you want within reason, please

it says that for e.g sales by card = 10,000 and cash receipts = 5,000, are they the same thing? so they both go as sales in the trial balance?
>>
>>987469
Bear in mind that I don't 100% know what all the math is behind this, but sales by card and cash receipts aren't the same thing.

You need to take into account the processing fees for the credit cards, say 2.5% + 30 cents / trans, so if that 10k were spread out over 100 transactions, it would be 10k - 280 (card fees) = 9,720 (total) Cash has no such drawback, so you should be able to just take that number and roll with it.

Has anyone ever turned down a promotion? What happened? I work at (glorified fast food place) as assistant manager and my boss is saying they want to make me a manager at some point but I really don't want to deal with that much responsibility over shit I don't care about for relatively little pay.

I worked at a Waffle House and the regional Managers wanted to train me for managerial position simply because I was male and had no criminal record. I turned it down. The Manager at the place I worked felt threatened I guess and started cutting my hours and always changing my shifts trying to get me to quit. She was a bitch.
>>
Same type of story.

When I was college, I was working at some museum in the run of the mill customer service type position. They wanted to make me shift lead. Which would have been a $1 more per hour, but tons more responsibility (responsibility over everyone's till, needing to deal with shitty customers, needing to go to meetings with the execs who thought their shit didn't stink, etc.).

ITT: People who are familiar with ebay/online product sales

Well /biz/, I've come up with a scheme. I've recently come across a number of chinese websites that are selling various products for very, very cheap with 100% free shipping due to e-Packet. My idea is to make an ebay store and offer their products at price hikes of around 3-5$. I would initially sell them to friends/other people I know personally until I can generate enough buzz/ebay rep that randoms start buying from me. Due to the fact that I have fuck all starting capital (about 40$ in my bank account & unemployed, recently moved and applying for jobs like fuck but my current status as a high school dropout isn't making that easy.) and also because it would put my risk at basically 0%, I thought I could put the products up on ebay without actually purchasing them in bulk from the chinese merchants. Instead, once I've received payment for an order, I would just go an order however many of that product directly from the chinese and have them ship it to my customers address.

My questions to /biz/ are as follows:
Does this sound like a decent idea? Are there any issues that you see with it?

Could I potentially get in any kind of legal trouble if the chinese merchants somehow figured out what I was doing and went to chinese/international authorities?

Why doesn't /biz/ have a sticky?

I don't know where to start with learning investing / trading / saving. You guys probably get this question all the time which is why I wish there was a sticky. I majored in the humanities and didn't take economics although I did take calculus. I just want to have a good grasp of what people mean when I read online about everything related to economics and financing and investing and what not.

Why is the max yearly contribution so small over there

Roth IRA (USA) - $5,500 allowance

TFSA (Canada) - $4,110 allowance

ISA (UK) - $23,000 allowance

>>

The tax-advantaged limitation is actually $53,000 in the U.S. Although certain accounts have lower limits, you can combine contributions to multiple types of accounts up to the aggregate limit. This includes everything from 401ks, 403bs, IRAs, Roths, Defined Contribution Plans, Cash Balance Plans, Deferred Comp Plans, etc. In addition, you can contribute pre-tax to certain state and federal education accounts, and to HSAs and MSAs.

Also, it should be noted that these limitation are per job. So if you happen to have two independent sources of income, you can double the limits.

So, the real question, UKfag, is ...

Why is the max yearly contribution so small over there?

The market represents the collective mind of the people.

Humans are not perfectly efficient and expecting any business or market to be is foolish.

Sup /biz/

I'm 18 years old and I've found someone that will sell me, set up and provide me with some stock for 5 coffee machines at the price of £15k.

The coffee machines are set to profit at a rate of £1750 a month, I'd be paying £1250 of that back to the bank for about 12 months but afterwards it's smooth sailing.

Is this a good idea? How profitable would this be? If I don't go into business I'd just end up taking out a 30k loan on university anyway.

Oops, I forgot to say I'll be getting the £15k from a bank.
>>
>>986983
Where are you placing these coffee machines? Do you notice a demand for them? What is the rent you will have to pay the location to have your machines there?

If you haven't done the market research yet, you may have a worthless machine and a deep sunk cost.

I'm currently making my CV to apply for a job, not anything fancy, just a local store.

I'm also currently studying full time and this job would just be part-time; to save some money.

However, due to the fact that I'm studying, I haven't yet attained any final grades to put on said CV. So, what do? Do I just describe my mindset and how I could benefit the company?

Cheers in advance for any help/advice.

>>

If you don't have any grades you are under the age of 16, in which case you can't legally be employed. Maybe ask the local newsagent if they have any paper-rounds going.

I suppose you could be 16 and not passed your GCSEs yet thinking about it, in which case just write the subjects you are studying and the expected grades for each.

Good luck!
