Is technical analysis still a valid approach to getting results in your portfolio? I know it was popular in the 80's and 90's but it seems fundamental analysis and price action trading have become the norm.

Mechanical. I'd say it has the most flexibility, maybe tied with electrical. I can find a decent job in almost any industry.

Everyone has a list inside of their minds, a list that keeps track subconsciously of all the things you want to own in life, or experience. Things like, your dream car, or a car, your own house, a dream house, a dream vacation, a dream pencil sharpener, etc etc etc.

What are some of the items on your list? You don't have to give them all, but 1 or 2 would be great. I'm just wondering what /biz/ aspires to have someday, and I want to see how different many of us are in terms of wealth accumulation.

It can be literally anything, a trophy wife, a Lamborghini, a special fish, a helicopter, a date night with Rosie Huntington Whiteley, literally any thing or experience that you want to one day make a reality.

Why in the fuck did my wife's mortgage vanish from her credit report?

>ex husband signs her on (2003)
>3 years later, still on the same loan.
>5 years later same
>10 years later it's disappeared. Gone. Not reported as closed, it's nothing.

I've got docs from 2 years ago showing the loan on her report, and ones from this year showing a blank canvas.

What in the fuck just happened?

120k just up and vanished.

ex did NOT refinance (first stop). Nothing crazy credit wise. We check our credit weekly and noticed a rather large chunk had disappeared.

Thoughts?

Hey /biz/ are there any good trading simulations that are NOT real time, but have real life events so it doesn't just feel like I'm guessing.
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Why is real time a problem?
>>
>>990830

It's hard for me to know if i am doing things right or wrong. I want to try different strategies.
>>
>>990834
I'm not sure I follow. NinjaTrader has a simulation platform that uses the real market and lets you test how effective your trading strategy is. You can also test it against the past as well if you want. Other than testing against the past, understanding the effectiveness of long-term strategies is going to take a long time. Also, past performance doesn't necessarily mean future performance, especially if your strategy is too fitted to past markets.

>wouldn't it be cheaper to give universal basic income to all citizens than trying to keep current welfare systems?

How would it be cheaper to pay everyone over $20,000/yr indefinitely?

There is 318.9 million people living in the US. $20 000/yr is about the bare minimum to live a barely passable standard of living in most areas, and even so it would be very poor.

20 000 * 318 900 000 = $6378 000 000 000. Where will we get over 6000 TRILLION dollars to pay for all of this? Will it come from the sky? Will our god Bernie Sanders grant us all this money?

So I often see clickbait lists that purport to contain the best places to live with low costs of living. Except... they're all in Texas or the South, and often with a small (sundown) town feel. Which is a problem, because I'm black. So where would be a good place to live with a low cost of living for a black person?

Hey guys,

I'm in a rut there.
I've been working on my business for 4+ years. That's a long time. We've had a rough patch, despite a great start, we're not modestly profitable (still a small team).

We created this right after college, so we were complete NOOBS and made shit tons of mistakes.

Here is the thing: I'm CONVINCED our startup hasn't reached 10% of it's potential. All of our metrics are good, except we don't have enough users (around 100k only, we're targeting 1M).

I'm just a bit burned out by this whole thing, but at the same time I refuse to give up. I'm quite stuck and not sure what to do. I'm considering raising an addition round so we can finally move faster (and make the moral better).

Any entrepreneur here who's gone through the same thing? If you quit, when did you quit? Do you regret it?

If you quit what will you do? Get a full time job and become filled with regret at your comfortable yet unfulfilling life? Or Will it pave the way for you to become financially stable enough to support a family?
>>
>>989720
That's both a blessing and a curse, but I'm convinced I could easily get a high paying job (like product manager in high tech startups).

I do want to have a family, I'm 29 so I'm not in a rush though.

Yeah I'm worried about having regrets, that's a feeling I've never had so far since I started my business right after college. It must suck to work in an office and think about starting your business all the time.

Let's talk roads and Internet.
Why does the government build roads? Why doesn't it build fibre networks in the same way they build roads? In today's age access to Internet is almost as important as access to the freedom of movement roads provide. I'm not suggesting that government should be an ISP, but building and maintaining essential, high speed connections between every human settlement shouldn't be left to monopolistic for profit entities who intentionally stiffle competition and provide subpar services whenever they aren't forced to do so by competition. Compare it to highways, government should build main backbones that are modular and future proof (growth projection for the next 20 years, let's say) since the main cost is human labour, not cable, and lease the connections to any individual or ISP for a fixed cost and leave the last mile distribution to them to compete over.

Could this work? Why not? Any better way of handling this important infrastructure? Large companies do this very inefficiently (US, Australia).
12 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Americans are strongly against letting the government handle anything. Even roads are complete dogshit here in Texas because conservatives don't want to pay a penny more in taxes.

Telecom lobbyists are also not going to just let it go under the radar since they have a monopoly to protect.
>>
False equivalence, the NBN ended up being a clusterfuck under Labor, with delays and massive budget blow outs.

Australia is unique in the world in that we have a small population in a large country, so of course our internet infrastructure is going to be sub-par compared to a South Korea or Germany.

Simply put, country areas don't need fiber. The fixed NBN wireless is more than enough for farmers and regional business.

I would agree that investment into infrastructure is better than simply giving out welfare.

>Americans are strongly against letting the government handle anything. Even roads are complete dogshit here in Texas because conservatives don't want to pay a penny more in taxes.

The roads are complete dogshit in California and New York as well.

I'm a student renting a condo/duplex. I have two roommates who might actually be retarded. They leave food in the oven or stove and leave the house while is still cooking. I'm terrified all my shit is going to go up in flames one of these days. The owner of this place does have insurance and we each signed seperately. But if the place goes up in smoke. Do I get any compensation or do I get shafted and all my stuff is gone?

Tl:dr idiot roommates. Maybe big fire. Is my stuff covered under insurance that owners have? They didn't require us to buy renters insurance.

Also I live in Alabama if that matters

Anybody have a similar experience to me?

Long story short, I was a drug addict, decided to get on with life and due to my past I have large gaps in my resume with only 1 'professional' reference, and even then I am unsure if they will give me a positive review though they have said they would. I have worked more jobs then that but unusable references (long story).

I'm 22 now, and I have gaps in my resume with no real references (I do have decent personal references for what it's worth) making life very difficult. I've been struggling finding work for over a year so I decided to go back to uni (ausfag) and am considering joining the military because of my (seeming) lack of options in terms of generating an income.

I have no criminal record, it is only my work history that is terrible for my age. How should I approach this? What do I do? I'm dying with boredom, I am fairly skilled (learning in my own time) but with a shit resume, I'm fucked, aren't I.

I'm trying to get volunteer work for something on my resume but it's a struggle even for that. Plz halp
