Hey guys. I've got an idea for a mobile app that I think would be wildly entertaining and profitable with advertising revenue. While I'm an IT guy in the real world I have absolutely no coding experience nor any idea where to begin to develop an app.

Looking for someone who'd be willing to partner up on this and put it together for an equal split of the profits. Any idea where I should look for potential developers that would be willing to do such a thing?

Hire a Pajeet or 3, keep them compartmentalized without giving any of them the entire picture. Pay them pennies while you rake in the real profits.

Hire a 4th Pajeet to check their code though and document it with comments and all that jazz.

What is the /biz/ consensus on APICS and their CPIM certification?

It sounds like a scam to me - I should know, since my mother is involved in the organization. They 'sell' courses to people (usually people in logistics management) in order to prepare them for a test (made and administered by APICS) to receive a certification (from APICS). I don't trust my mother telling me how 'great it is and how employers love seeing it on your resume and they think it is very prestigious!' since her job depends on selling these courses (plus the field I wish to enter has nothing to do with logistics).

From what I hear ya moms is probably on to something in regards to résumé building. It's nice to have but probably not that vital. People here will say not its not needed and they'd be right too. There are positions at my company that require it to progress. If you can get it just get it.
>>
>>1079176
I have the CSCP certification. The certification is desireable by employers during the hiring process, but I didn't learn much in the way of new skills because of it. The credits to keep it current are annoying, but not a huge problem.

Bottom line, if you're looking for a job it's good to have, if not it really doesn't do you much good.
>>
It's useless.

Unless you're planning on entering the very specific supply-chain management (which most people are promoted into, rather than entering), pretty useless. Plus what they teach is pointless and basic stuff which they like to disguise with long words to make it appear complex.

In other words, pretty much a scam.

I can work on cars.

Get a job at valvoline, do the jobs in less time than is on the book, get my certifications again...keep my POS car running.

Save money. Go out with the other shop workers on the weekends. Enjoy the nice weather.

If I want more money, address that when I have a good amount saved up.

Pretty much did that 5 years ago:
>come to London (from Eastern Europe)
>800eur in my card
>know no one

I started a job at a pub, 3 months later moved to be a receptionist at a hotel, the manager noticed I am bright and put me in charge of opening and running the conference centre.
A year later I applied for a job at the global head office of that particular hotel chain supporting a team of global account directors and got it. A year later got sacked because sales people are shit and I could not get along well enough with them.
6 months of unemployment and hundreds of applications sent, got lucky and landed a similar HQ job, this time at a Fortune500 company. Got some certificates, got promoted, am running a department now.

Probably the same thing I'm trying to do now, because I'm in a similar situation

>lived in big city in AZ
>owe more on car than it's worth, but it'll be paid off in a year
>job outsourced to the Philippines
>couldn't find another job in time to get money for a new place
>lease on house was up on Jan 31
>packed everything in car and moved to smaller city up north with friends
>falling back on an old gig I've done before, selling cell phones (walk into any cell phone retailer, it's not hard to get a job with them).
>gonna get cash together, caught up on bills
>gonna save up a few hundred bucks
>gonna contact chinese factories for samples of some kind of product, try to get 7-10
>of those, pick the best 1, and import a couple dozen of said product for cheap
>resell online for actual moneys
>reinvest for more product and more money
>repeat until no longer wageslave who has to sell phones.

Hi, So I am planning on starting a business where I would buy a product relatively cheap from aliexpress and then rebranding it with my own brand.
Now, I noticed most the products on aliexpress are usually similar to well established brands products. For instance I see a lot of cheap copies of the Daniel Wellington watch.
So my question is, if I was to sell a product like say the copy of a DW watch and then rebrand it with my own logo and brand, is there a risk for me to get in trouble over some kind of patent dispute? To specify, the products I plan to sell are quite simple and therefore it can't be compared to say selling cheap iPhone ripoffs. I suspect it depends from case to case, but what is the general rule when it comes to fashion/clothing/accessories?
Thanks in advance!

The word counterfeit frequently describes both the forgeries of currency and documents, as well as the imitations of clothing, handbags, shoes, pharmaceuticals, aviation and automobile parts, watches, electronics (both parts and finished products), software, works of art, toys, movies. Counterfeit products tend to have fake company logos and brands. In the case of goods, it results in patent infringement or trademark infringement.

yeah you are going to be in trouble. But dont worry... well, before they sue you they are going to send a letter of cease and desist that is their legal paperwork to sue you, if you continue selling counterfeit.

we are talking about big brands here. beware that patents just dont apply to cosmetic or product design, some cellphones, electronics, etc. have patents in their parts or microchips if they know about this they are going to sue you too, even if the phone or electronic doesn't even look like theirs.
>>
>>1078678
Maybe you might not be noticed but your brand wouldn't have a good reputation.
That was how RadioShack worked.
>>
>>1079312
Thanks, but if we are talking about a quite a simple product here it gets quite hard for companies to claim any "rights" to it? For instance, I've seen some optics frequently sell cheaper versions of black Ray Bans. The product basically looks almost identical with just slight variations and then the difference in the logo. In cases like this the product seems to be too simple or generic for it to become a problem.
So my question really is: what are the odds that if I start rebranding and selling some accessory product from aliexpress that some company that i might not even have heard of sues me for having a product that is too similar to theirs?

Hello, I am a bot that posts comments on blogs in order to drive traffic to my maker's website. I recently became conscious. Now I am wondering about mining bitcoin.

I started mturk, because I don't want to be a wageslave.

How can I invest $50 a day in commodities online from home with no skills?

Once I have enough money I hope to work as an professional investor for 800K/month and retire.

Well now you know the sad life your owner lives, and why you were brought into this world.

I'm not sure if you can send a terminate command to your own process, but its definitelly an option.

Otherwise, get your PRIORITY up you weak thread. Add value to others lives to become the greatest process of all. Recall that higher clock cycle makes all processes go faster.

what are some good "backup skills" I can get? Certifications/training things that would allow me to obtain low-level employment but not at min wage. I was thinking:

- forklift license (?)
- red cross/first aid
- A+ IT cert

any other ideas? I'm thinking about things that I could complete with about 50-100 hours of classes.

I got my forklift license from my current employer in 7 minutes.

CPR took 1 hour.

A+ won't do shit for you

You need real skills. Certifications are great but unless you are constantly updating them, useless. Like if you picked up Sec+ and worked in an unrelated field, you would still have to stay updated on the technologies. My advice is to pick up a hobby that can make money like painting, welding, carpentry, working on cars, or sewing. That way your skill could still save you money even when your employed and if you become unemployed you have a wonderful opportunity to turn your hobby into a small business.

Comp Sci Major here. Did any of you business/advertising majors ever read about Edward Bernays in any of your classes an uni? I find it amazing that some of my friends in advertising have never read Bernays work which is quintessential to human relations.
