Why do people fall for the trap of seeking to get the next nicest/biggest car/house/whatever instead of getting things that do the job and then making more money to save/invest so that losing a job/one bad investment doesn't kill them/put them on the back step?

I mean, I get it, it's nice to be rich, but isn't the needless pursuit of the appearance of wealth and opulance counterintuitive?

Because 90 percent of people are morons and don't understand that the fucking tortoise in the hare explains everything you need to know about personal finance. People would rather try to get rich from gambling than putting money away for the future because the latter is BORING and they don't want to show their friends am IRA, they want to show them a Ferrari. But basically, Yah, people are stupid
>>
Why do people watch sports? Why do people own pets? Why do people eat nice tasting food? Why do people do anything but eat fuck and sleep?

Point is, people are mostly retards, and not everything has to make sense.

Btw Dave Ramsey is a fag who should be gassed because he doesn't live by his own advice. He got ultra-rich selling common sense to working class people, so he doesn't have to worry about budgeting and debt himself.

I have a rental property currently and I'm buying another in a few months. My old s10 blazer isn't the best at doing the home depot trips. I've read I can "write off" the expenses of a business vehicle(repairs/taxes/fuel/purchase price).
So say I claim I use it 50% for work I can "write off" 50% of the cost.

Question is:
If I spend $6000 on truck payments a year and claim half those miles were for business does the gov just cut me a check for $3000 at the end of the year?

Is it that easy if I keep my recites etc.

It doesn't work quite that way, it's more of a percentage of your income tax that is reduced. The government is not going to pay you to run a business.

Yes keep your receipts, go to a good tax guy next year, and your taxes won't be as ridiculous, but "writing it off" doesn't work like that.

I'm sorry this is shit news, it was like getting stabbed when I found this out two years ago when I started my business.

As for your truck that you already have, drive it until repairs cost more than a payment, then get a loan on a new vehicle.
>>
>>1089475
Ok so that 50/50 thing is sort of sketchy, check with a tax attorney , I know for a fact theyll laugh at you if you try that with cell phone bill.

So these earnings from the company (you have an llc I presume?) will be filed alongside your personal taxes, unless the expenses are more than what you could deduct normally its moot (its either or, not both)

but its like 55 cents a mile OR gas (again, either OR) , you almost always are better off writing off the mileage than the gas (maybe gas in like 2008 at 4 bucks a gallon would have been better)

Not sure if you can include other repairs and maintenance , I Think thats why they put it up so high (0.55 a mile) because at that rate its covering the damage youre doing to the car.

Thank you

>you have an llc I presume?
...no, I just bought a duplex and rent out the half I don't live in. Looking to move into another duplex next year and have four units. Two units will pay mortgage, one is extra income, and one I live in.

Do I need a llc?

I have software development skills, I want to get into business - solve a problem, sell a product.

My biggest issue is coming up with that problem to solve - what people need. Has anyone else been in the same boat?

5 years with windows development (WPF/C#).

Currently working in a web environment - AngularJS/Bootstrap/js front end, WebAPI (C#) backend.

Pretty 'well rounded' and considered a utility player at one former job, by no means a genius but I get work done.

Get out more. There's many problems out there to solve. Find one that you think is interesting and offer a solution. Sell that shit! I do web development and demand is high.

Hey guys,

I'm a developer, with a friend of mine, we have made a couple of apps. They're 100% developed, ready to be released. We have good reasons to think they're going to monetize well (I work in this industry).

Where should we incorporate to release those apps under a company and receive from money legally from it? I'm from a country where incorporation is heavy. I'd just like to incorporate as easily as possible. So far I'm thinking Estonia (via e-citizenship), Singapore? HK? UK? I'm from Europe.

Let me know what you think, or you've done this.

can you incorporate in the US? you'll pay uncle sam but it'll look more legit and you can use things like paypal / google pay more easily with a US EIN # (or rather the customers can use these things)

Are you retarded? CHK has been dead in the water for a year now. The latest leg down is cause they hired lawyers to restructure. We can debate whether or not they will file, but this wasn't the result of a hitpiece.
>oh look a tripfaf doesnt know what hes talking about. Color me surprised
>>
>>1087922

Chesapeake orchestrated the whole thing.

They leaked the info, to scare the people that own the pipeline and the CONTRACT THAT STOPS CHESAPEAKE FROM MAKING MONEY.

The pipeline owners are PISSING THEIR PANTS now that Chessapeake will file for bankruptcy-

Chessapeake, Monday morning next week, is going to march in there and renegotiate the contract, leaving a viable company in it's wake.

The second news that the contract was restructured hits the press, the share will go to $10.

CHK will operate it's wells profitably, gas will go up, and the price per share will go to $50.

You don't know ANYTHING other than what the hit piece told you- that CHK had contacted a bankruptcy firm
