Should I be mad at myself for even thinking of switching from a mechanical engineering major to a math major?

I've decided that I want to work in the finance field in the future, and have heard that math majors are highly prized in that field. However, whenever I look at the average salaries of degrees, engineering majors are at the top of the list and math majors seem to often not even make the cut.

Should I forget about ever switching to mathematics? I'm a first year student, so it's not like I've gone too far.

If you don't like engineering, you'll be worse off as an engineer making money than as a mathematician who isn't. Even if you do like engineering, the reality of spending every day taking the same tired solutions, tweaking them, and reporting them so that someone else can sell the final product and get rich from it, can really get to you.

Just find that magical intersection of things you really enjoy doing and things that make a living wage, and you're golden.

I'm new to trading, how do you psyche yourself up to investing big?

I did some exploration work with Newcrest and could see they were going to go up but didn't have the balls to lock it in.

I psyche myself up by not playing around with my entire portfolio. It's easy to make trades when it's just one of thousands. Don't emotionally invest.

Im thinking about buying like 2-3 small vending machines with condoms and put them in my town (30k people) assuming 1 machine will sell 10condoms a could get pretty fine monthly profit without doing anything, just filling the machines with new condoms, passive income

what can go wrong?

Permissions is the annoying part.
Then, liability maybe?
Finally, theft (either of product, money inside, or the machines themselves)
idk those seem pretty obvious but could still be a decent idea if you think there are enough people where you live having spontaneous sex (not doubting this may be the case)
Find out where teenagers/high-schoolers hang out, at any rate.
>>
>>1089602
how old are you ?
>>
>>1089602

I kind of like this idea. You could probably find such machines for relatively cheap and as that other anon said your big hurdle is permissions.

I'd be curious if you make any money off this.

What do you think about pic related?

I've realised that my latex autism could be profitable. I have a pet project, where I converted a medieval book into a nice looking pdf. I'm around 2/3rds done and since I have intended to print it as a real, well bound hardcover book, I wonder if there are people who would buy it. What really makes it stand out is that I've redone a lot of illustrations in the book with vector graphics and it looks really beautiful.
It costs less than 15$ to print, too, so if I could sell it for 30$ it would create some decent profit.

Post all questions regarding whether Ethereum will be a worthwhile currency or not.

I personally don't think it will succeed in the long run. Why? Because what stops someone from coding an identical smart contract and ripping people off with it?

Why Ethereum and not MaidSafe?

Go to /lit/ and get indoctrined. But I'll give you a few suggestions. My favorite audiobook I've listened to in the past year was Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe. Excellent story and the guy who does the reading is superb. Also try listening to a few podcasts, Freakonmics, Serial, Motley Fool, and Radiolab to name a few.

It'll be hard to get it from a girl, and you'll have a pretty low supply. That wouldn't be very profitable.

What you should do instead is collect semen from guys and charge them for it.

I can't get famous figure's egg right away. I would have to build the market first via 'egg bank' where eggs will be purchased at Universities, and be sold to buyers via auction of some sort. girls will get something like minimum of $500 per egg or 5% of the auctioned price.

Okay, let's to get to the bottom of this. Why are college costs so high in the US compared to every other country?

I've been reading about it and it is NOT because the US government spends less on university subsidies compared to European nations. It actually spends way more, and has actually been INCREASING spending on higher education at almost five time the rate of military spending since the 1960's.

So obviously the reason is that colleges are incurring more costs, requiring higher spending in the first place. But what is accounting for such an increase in operating costs for colleges since the 1960's? They had all the same shit back then, football programs, campus housing, rec centers, etc. Sure there are most students but this can't possibly account for it all, because that also means more money coming in. Just what is going on here?

Loans in the 10's of thousands of dollars are guaranteed to kids fresh out of high school with no concept of money.

They charge insane tuition rates because, well, they'll get it. It's that simple really.
>>
>>1089681
Sure, whatever the tuition is people are gonna have to pay it, since it is still a good investment. But I don't think this is a matter of "we can raise the price, so let's do it". Colleges are not simply making much more in profits than they were before. They just have higher operating costs. What I want to know is what accounting for this?
>>
>>1089692
>I don't think this is a matter of "we can raise the price, so let's do it"

It absolutely is. I have a good friend who's a college professor. I just did has taxes for him. He made near minimum wage after all was factored out. It's ridiculous.

Hi /biz/, since most of you have made decent profits with ethereum I would like to talk with you about a matter. Vitalik Buterin. As we all know he is huffing extensive aether and lost a lot of weight, people estimate that he weights some where around 50 kg (121 pounds for the american plebs). My proposal is to start a /biz/ crowdfunding in order to raise enough money to buy Vitalik some mcdonalds, potatoes, chicken breasts, milk and other kind of foods that will rehabilitate him and make him not look like a creepy version of a siberian slender man. Part of the crowdfunding funds will be used to get him off aether and fight his addiction for it.

>>
>>1089516
I will support your crowdfunding attempt.

This is very important and I am very concerned for young Vitalik. This man is simply too young to die from his crippling drug addiction and sequential extreme-malnutrition.
>>
>>1089520
Our first priority should be to force feed him chicken, mashed potatoes, milk and rice in order for him to gain healthy weight. Then we will get him of aether so he rehabilitate from his addiction, light electro shocks should do the matter.
>>
>>1089535
It might be a little hard for his stomach to stretch to accommodate that much food though.

I propose we buy weightgainer and make shakes of 2,000 calories each that will be easier for him to absorb and digest in the beginning.

Why don't you people care about the average person? Why do you want to increase your own wealth while impoverishing everyone else?

What exactly do we do that impoverishes everyone else?

If anything, we do things on here that impoverish ech other.
