Is there much of a benefit of knowing multiple languages?

Should I be trying to leverage this somehow in interviews or would I just look like an idiot?

I know Russian and I'm also learning Spanish right now.

I imagine it would be useful for better communication internationally or maybe even in the present company but is this worth even bringing up in most cases?

Linguist here.

If you already know Russian or Spanish contacts or can think of a scenario in which acquiring some Russian or Spanish-speaking contacts will be of use to you (are you running guns, drugs, or subcontracting a garden maintenance service?) it's pretty much a waste of time. They do have good literature though.

English is the current business lingua franca so don't expect high fliers to care about other languages too much unless you're going into diplomacy or NGO work.

Whoops. That should be *Unless you already know...

My bad.
>>
Funny, I know Spanish but I'm learning Russian. Beautiful language. I also admire the culture.

My next goal after Russian is Mandarin Chinese.

I feel like learning a language is great for getting to know people and developing trust.

I didn't know Russian when I went to Russia (still don't) and it would have made the trip better to know it.

When I speak Spanish I can get to know people so much better and on a deeper level.

I wanted to learn German before they became culturally enriched. Same with French. I view those languages as pointless now.

Spanish is good because the population is growing, but it is not an important intellectual language.

Someone explain how there's so many ETH posts lately.

Summarize it in two lines.

Also is it one shill or do you guys think it's a group flooding the board?

It's basically the new Litecoin.
>totes the bitcoin successor
>the future of currency
>bitcoin parity soon
>you can use it for so much stuff
>banks will be using it one day
>microsoft azure
>there's like apps and you can buy stuff with it

>Summarize it in two lines.
I can summarize it in two words:
>Pump
>Dump

It's a virus, or you can just think of it as an MLM scam.

You get duped, so you dupe someone else.

Literally the successor to DRK, Ripple, LiteCoin, Doge, and PND

The arguments are even identical

>To the moon
>Replace USD
>"you don't understand the tech"
>new vaporware app coming soon

The reality is that all of these shills don't care about the future of it, they just want it to pump, so they can cash out their "currency of the future" for USD and leave all the retards as bagholders

Hey /biz/, I'm in the process of getting a Nanoscience degree.
Didn't really put much thought into it aside from not wanting to do Math/Dry Physics and NANOMACHINES.
Reading about engineers getting all the money is kinda making me curious.
What do you guys think about Nanoscience? My university advertises it as growing and paying well, but that's probably just memes. Considering about 15 people graduate per year I don't think the jobs are fought hard over, but only 80 people even starting together with me kinda leaves me worried (Physics got like 160). Any experiences/insights?
I'm thinking of changing to something engineering related/doing that after my bachelor. I really like the field, but it seems like there's no "go to" jobs and everything is pretty much research oriented. Also, is Nanoengineering a viable option?

On what meme exactly? Yesterday was my first day on /biz/ so I'm really not well versed with the memes here.
If you mean engineers having broader acess to jobs than Nanoscientists I'm pretty sure that that's not just a meme.
Like, getting a 50k job with a masters in Nano is fucking hard.

I work in a gold mine, my role is in lower management, because I work literally at the face, and i am also friends with the geologists etc... I know about when the mine is doing well and when it isn't before the market hears about this. Last time i got a good tip, we got baught out by another company 3 days later and the share price doubled.

I regularly know when the mine is doing well and when it isn't, and at the moment it is doing very well. at the moment i only play the market on a simulator and have had some wins and some losses with my predictions about the place. I am up about 10% this time. (not including the 100% on the last buyout, and 30% on the last re-valuation) my question is. given that it is also a forighen owned company. what are my chances of being caught if i trade this stock in real life, frequently. also Because I am NOT technically privvy to most information besides daily reports of the ore and the grade etc... just how illegal is this?

If you haven't signed any contract that restricts your trading of your company, then you're pretty much in the clear. Even back when I worked in management consulting you seldom had specific restrictions on trading a client's stock unless you were handling things like unpublished financials.
>>
Yeah I think i would be fairly safe, I see daily reports of how much we produce, however so do hundreds of other people who most likely have the stock.

I tried trading through family, however the family member i got to buy the shares when the price doubled only bought $1000 for me (with my money) and didn't tell me because they thought i was being "too risky" so i lost my 10K payout...wasn't happy.

I think i'll do it myself from now on.

Last week I was offered an internship position at the M&A department of a Buldge Bracket Bank. I hope this is my way in to the investment banking industry. Does anyone have some advice for me? How the hell do I go about building a social media following WITHOUT selling a product?

I need a smaller budget from kickstarter first.
I've heard so much about how you need a social media following about your company / product before launching a kickstarter.

How do I do this?
I already have mockup images and a clear product description and usage.
