Of course it's useful. You'll have to work hard as fuck because every one wants the jobs. You won't see the top job till you're in your 50s.
>>
not as useful as sucking dick
>>
most masters degrees are a waste of time.

Even an MBA is falling into this category slowly.

Is real estate not a viable way of growing wealth steadily?
>Get good education and job (Whatever profession you desire)
>Save as much as possible
>Buy house / apartment
>Rent it out
>Buy house / apartment
>Rent it out
>Buy house / apartment
>Rent it out
>Repeat

I mean, shit, take some carpentry classes, and hustle to improve the houses / apartments for a relatively small budget.

It would have the benefits of:
>Almost complete liquidity
>Stable income
>Exponential growth
>Can be turned into a company (Hire other people to manage it)
>Your children can inherit a lot of wealth

With the downsides of:
>'Landlocked' into country
>Maintenance work
>Renters from hell

Why do so few people do it then?

real estate around the world is in a gigantic bubble, liable to pop any day and make you lose half your investment or more.

if this wasn't the case, yes, it's generally a good investment.
>>
>>1103954
Is it really a global bubble?
Even then, once it bursts, it is bound to go back up due to the nature of real estate.
Or am I mistaken?
>>
>Be me
>Dad retired, sold his business, but kept the mortgage free proporty and rented it out for €1,500 a month after cost
>Dead dies, FeelsBadMan.jpg
>Inherit property
>Get monthly income from property, rents gets raised once a year, basically no work from it because I have a manager on it.
>Don't give a shit about the market value of it, just keep sending the rent checks every month

I think real estate is a fine investment, if you have a good renter.

Explain to me like I'm five; why is Japans Long-term credit ratings at Standard and Poor's AA? Why is Sweden AAA?

I honestly don't get it, engineering major, know very little about econ.

Isn't Japans population decline and massive debt a huge risk when it comes to long term credit rating? Isn't Sweden with it's immigration and current political chaos extremely volatile? The Stockholm OMX has been going way down recently as well.

Any ideas welcome, thanks in advance.

>Isn't Sweden with it's immigration and current political chaos extremely volatile?
this is just a /pol/ meme, if mass immigration will cause any problems it will take ~10 years at least, a couple of weak effeminate swedish boys getting mad seeing their perfect aryan girls twerking with ahmed and mohammed doesn't really affect the economy at the moment

Hey, /biz/, I've been thinking about two different ideas for a while now for monetizing a hobby, but they go in very different directions.

One is my hobby for competitive terrestrial RC cars and designing parts in autocad (Two years experience) and getting them machined to sell.

The other is selling custom (illegitimate) TCG cards; I've dabbled in four or five different games and researched their production methods.

The latter is very grey area (A.K.A super easy to be sued for copyright by multiple parties), but has virtually zero overhead unless you're dealing with physical copies and won't be an issue if you're only doing it to make a few bucks here and there. The former is legitimate, but will require a lot of saving up, and I don't know the proper networking channels to get in as a merchandiser for RC.

Switch to drone racing, you'll find more opportunities there. Create racing parts, exterior aerodynamic design (or simply looks cool).

I'll have to look into that; I don't know much about drone aftermarket.

in 2016 is growing Marijuana a profitable business?

i run a few small businesses and thought about getting into this "industry"

As a seller (dispensary or recreational shoppe), the banks won't accept your money as it's legality is not recognized on a federal level (US only). You'll need to hire a lot of security, and keep your money in a vault. Do not avoid paying taxes despite the opportunity to do so as businesses in this industry are under a lot of pressure to act responsibly and feds will look for any reason to shut it down.

All things considered, it is a very profitable business but in some states/provinces, you'll need a farm or large scale grow op (licensed, of course) to supply x% of your product.

I know of a family of farmers that got contracted into growing medical marijuana in Canada and despite all the annoying paperwork and government inspections, they're caking in money.
>>
>>1108013
I work as a producer in the southwest area. Our medical program is a bit more strict than in your state (which is quite frankly borderline recreationally legal imo), and I think you should focus your money on cannabis products derived from growing marijuana. Believe it or not, growing isn't the hardest thing in the world, and most dispesaries have no problem getting bud to the shelves. However, edibles, extractions, etc are going to be all the rage in the next 6 - 10 years. Specifically solventless extractions.

Something to think about.

he did make a couple million trading when he was in his early 20s, then he set up a hedge fund that failed. he knows how to trade, i mean hes no superstar or anything but he has some good results to show to. however these days my impression is hes mostly selling stuff to hopeful/stupid people, since its an easier and less stressful way to make money than to actually trade.

What can you tell me about the sales industry, /biz/? I am a disillusioned EE student that wants to quit and since that would effectively leave me without any formal qualifications, sales seems to be my only alternative. Is it a good idea to enter this business? How about the perspectives in the long run once you've entered this? Thanks for your help.

depends what you're selling. Basic cheap retail then there are a few reqs, social ability etc. but obviously you want to be making alot of money, so you're going to want to sell high cost cars, yachts or real estate, the long term in these can be extremely fruitful. but you need to be socially adept, well groomed etc. good luck. its more about who you know than what you know. so network find some people ho work high up and befriend them.
>>
>>1107436

Thank you man. The social abilities and basic charisma shouldn't be a problem as even my fellow students ask me what I'm doing there with my skills. EE is really a gray and low-energy environment..But it's good to hear that this switch is possible. If somebody can do it, then so must I. Also: Is it better to start in smaller companies and then work up, or try to land in larger ones where they require degrees even though I won't finish mine? The basic strategy would be to get noticed through my success, right?
>>
>>1107488
go for smaller companies, for 2-3 years, if you notice a way you can work up, go for it. but those couple years of experience will be looked at really favorably by the larger companies. just work hard and all and any success will be noticed, not just by your current employers but by potential future business partners too.
