I interviewed with the local branch of Morgan Stanley Thursday and did well, so they invited me to the final interview which involves "Networking Breakfast followed by two one-on-one interviews and participation in a group activity".

Is anyone familiar with Morgan's hiring practices and whether this is actually part of the selection process or basically making sure the one guy who interviewed me didn't make a mistake? If I've made it this far, do you think my chances are better than 50% to get the position?

Also, general job interview stories if anyone wants to share.

Don't waste your time analyzing every step of the process- you'll make yourself nuts. Do your best and there is only one way to find out if you made it. Good luck!
>>
>>1143213
I'm not doing that, I'm just curious since this "interview" sounds more like an orientation than anything else.

Thanks, though!

I see these threads all the time.

Yall quit crying and overthinking yourselves.

Just go through these shits and act natural. If you don't know something it's totally fine to say you don't know.

Just act like normal fuckin people, quit sweating all this selection bullshit.

Hello /biz/, academ/ic/, I want to start taking comissions but I have some doubts about paypal that I hope you know enough about.
I know paypal isn't kind to porn artists and what should I use to avoid that. the invoice and only offering my work as a service but I also wanted to make a second account with a different mail and once I get payed move the money to the second account in case the first one gets banned so they don't take my money away. But: can third parties see where I move my money? Is my plan against paypal's policies?
I will also like to get my money on cash, do I need a bank account for that?

What else should I now?

porn billionaire here. graduated from university of /ic/ about a year ago. no, third parties can not see where you move your money. your plan against paypals policies is the following:

- ask clients not to put anything in the comment box of the invoice
- put something like 'design consultation', or 'skype tutoring session' in the invoice item description. this ensures that nobody can claim you did not deliver the product, as the invoice clearly lists a service, not a shippable item (protects you from fraud, which is very rare though)
- if paypal bothers you in any way, be proactive and get in touch with them asap. via phone. the only time i had a real issue with paypal it was resolved within 10 minutes of me calling their hotline.
- use your real info in your account details. this is critical and if you don't do this you are playing with fire. don't worry about clients doxing you, you can hide your personal info on business account invoices. even if you couldn't or if you mess up (i did for a long time), clients don't give a fuk. out of the 3 billion people on the internet, you are not that special.
- DO however use a fake email upon registering your paypal account. you can call yourself anything, paypal does not care. This email you CANNOT hide on invoices, so you want to avoid using your personal private email that includes your real life name.
- I recommend you DON'T move money from your commission paypal to your personal paypal. I haven't done it, but I suspect paypal would consider that a little suspicious, and once you make a certain amount of $/year paypal has to ensure you are not laundering money. At this point if you used fake personal info to make your commission account, paypal WILL ruin your day. Instead link your commission account to your bank account, and send the funds there.

cont.

Another protip: Try to get to a level of skill/popularity where you don't charge under 100$. Because once you are there you don't get anymore young inexperienced and generally annoying/dangerous clients. You almost only get people who understand discretion, mutual respect, and appreciate what you do.

Been drawing smut professionally for a few years and have never had any serious issues with paypal.

Hey/biz/ do you have any recommendations to someone who doesn't fully know what they want to do as a career? I'm a smart guy and successful I just don't know what I want to go to school for. Any recommendations will be much appreciated. What did you go to school for? How successful are you now?

>Hey/biz/ do you have any recommendations to someone who doesn't fully know what they want to do as a career?

Literally EVERYONE your age has the same problem unless they are being forced into a career path by their parents.

The answer to your question is, just go with what you're good at. Once you're in college, network like crazy because that will be more important than just studying hard to get good grades.

if you're an alpha chad who was president of the Omega Kappa Phi society or something, then banking/consulting are the obvious career paths for you.

If you're a introverted betafag who can't network to save your life, then atleast get good at a technical skill like programming, CAD software, graphic design, system/network admin or database administration.
>>
>>1142179
Thanks for the honest advice I really appreciate it. I was actually thinking of taking a systems admin course in September because i'm really good with technology. I really appreciate the insight again.
>>
Anyone can give you some decent answers but you will learn the most about yourself when you get to college, trust me. You'll see how you do in social situations, presentations, reports, papers, research, exams, and from there you'll have a much better picture on what you're most suitable at. That's why so many people shift majors.

But that doesn't tell you anything and is pretty much like saying that you should fuck up and make mistakes before learning anything. You don't have to fail to learn. Here's my advice as a 19 year old junior in uni who's going to finish college at 20.

>Look at the majors you're interested in. Now you have a feel for what you like. But is it viable?
>Look at the job market, salaries, work locations and your family connections. Do these make the major you're interested in practical and doable? If yes, great. You can do what you love and stay job secure. If not, you can take the risk of doing something you might find out you're not as interested in as you first thought.
>Now that you've weeded out the shitty stuff, look up some syllabuses on the majors you're interested in. Do some coursework for 4 months at the least and see how it feels. Now this is important, DO THE WORK. If you can't manage yourself for shit then you won't get anywhere. You're better off fucking up in college and learning from your mistakes than forcing yourself to do something you don't fully appreciate to begin with.
>Read the textbooks, do the research, write the essays, find exercises with answer keys and do them. What you're doing in 4 months of paced, dedicated work will reflect what you'll do in 4-5 years of college. Did you enjoy it? Did you appreciate it? Etc. You can reflect for yourself
>Mix up your knowledge sources with youtube, podcasts, articles, forums, etc. Don't just stick to the books. Archimedes had fun doing what he was doing, he wasn't doing it because it was practical or "important to society" (conjecture on my part)

What kind of system would you choose or what kind of approach would you choose to check on the employees every week, if they are doing their workload and how much have they progressed? I've been assigned with a project to create an excel sheet which others can edit so the boss will see the work done and the work to be done. But I am unable to come with any interesting idea. Thx Anons

Most companies have these things called "Meetings" weekly or biweekly and employees can email important updates to their supervisor. Your boss sounds like he just got the job from daddy.

I don't understand the point of using excel here but I guess we still have ancient methods of document control too, so I'd approach it with a automatic weekly sweep of signatures and dates with a visual cue, and give every employee their own sheet linked back to the list. If your boss really is a stupid cunt just have everyone upload an image of a progress bar made in paint.
>>
>>1142143
that sounds like a nice idea, but on meetings we mostly find out that the work does not get done or some are lacking behind, this is the kind of a boss which has a lot to handle but doesn't share a lot of information so he wants to have everything under control, but then he lacks a way of checking the employees. Thank you for your thoughtful insight. I was thinking of creating a task list on the company's server where everybody would check what tasks are done. but so far i find it useless

Bullshit. All they are producing are millions of graduates (mostly STEM wannabes) for a few thousand jobs available in the economy, with student loans they can never ever hope to pay back and when most jobs will just go to the "muh enterprising and oppressed immigrant" anyway.

How do you tell when to buy during the dip? How do you tell when to sell b4 it dips?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1141889
Research, luck, insider tips or very fast action to catch things at the very beginning.

But if people could reliably predict fluctuations 100% of the time there would be no speculation, only pure profit all the time for everyone.
>>
Don't need to buy at the bottom dip. You just need to be where it's low.
>>
>>1141889
Watch a stock for a few months. There are 10% swings in just about any stock. Ignore those. You'll know the dip when you see it.
Patience.
And remember, a wise man once said, "I've never bought the bottom and never sold the top." Don't be afraid of missing the bottom or top, there's plenty of money to be made in between.

Hey /biz/, would you ever start a business in Cuba, with the embargo soon ending. As a Cuban American raised less than 150 miles away from Cuba, I feel like working with my mother country would be a fulfilling job, providing capitalist, higher paying jobs to an impoverished people. Juice carts is a good idea.

I guess it depends more on how they feel about you opening business there. Tourism will rocket so there will be money but most people don't like out foreigners coming in to profit. Carpetbaggers are seen as bad to a lot of people.

Hey /biz/nessmen I'm new here but I've noticed a lot of talk about ETH, since I've been broke up until now and busy with uni I didn't pay it any mind because there's nothing I could do about it, but I recently feel into a few hundred dollars by chance. I want to invest at least some of it in Ethereum or whatever but I'm not sure how, can someone give me a quick how-to, or link me to where I can find one? Thanks mates

Look, usually I'd sit back and let people lose their money but I feel the broke and don't want to see you fall into this trap rn.
Don't buy eth. Its too late. Its a classic bubble. Seriously, look at a long term chart of bitcoin and compare. You really don't want to get into it right now, the risk of its collapse is so high.
There are dozens of other coins you could invest in and get a decent yield. But I wouldn't touch eth at all at this point, the whales are itching to dump. Btc itself is ready to start growing, but theres other coins that would be a higher return. All I'm saying is eth has left the station and climbing on now is a seriously dangerous game you don't want to be a part of.
