New fag here, got a question
1st time on /biz/
A chick from HR at my work got "fired"[so we were told], and is now threatening to unionize the company.
she took documents(not personal info of workers).
the Ayrospace company i work for is going in full damage control mode because of this.
they practically begged us not to sign any union papers.

QUESTION 1: what could she have possibly have taken that makes them so scared?
(obviously something that gives the Union Ammo but what?)

Q 2: would a union even be a good thing?

Note: this is happening just 1 week before the Profit sharing check. that same check that will be extremely low this year and has angered people.

>>
You'd be a fool not to unionize. It gives you power to ask for better wages and fuck your selfish bosses in the ass.
>>
>>1230106
the issue would be if our company could even exist as a union.
90% of our work is for Boeing
because Boeing can't afford to have their own workers make it.
>>
>>1230089
>A management employee got fired and is threatening to unionize.
Fuck her. Fuck management.

But I'm guessing you don't know how the union formation process works, and neither does your employer.

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade.
It's also pretty basic software.

> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta ( https://robinhood.com/au/).

> It's been X days, why isn't my account isn't verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.

> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, please go to Stocktwits, Plebbit, or one of our many chat groups.

> What's a good penny stock to invest in?
Don't buy penny stocks you cum guzzling mouth breathing retard.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using Yahoo/Google finance or even Stocktwits for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

So I have no idea on how to pick stocks. The more I read the more I think it is just gambling. So I tought of putting all my saved money (100K CHF) into SDY - SPDR S&P Dividend ETF. It has some nice dividends, some increase in value. My only concern is that I am living in Switzerland and using CHF which is much better than the dollar. I really want the most boring and safe investment which is not a bond, and not some shitty 1% interest savings account.

Is this a good idea /biz/ ? do you have a better suggestion? Shall I just keep my 100K CHF as cash?

Picking stocks is probably going to be really hard if you don't know anything about the sector you're looking at or business in general really. Do you? If not then it is pretty much gambling.
>>
>>1228981
i have most of my portfolio in boring, "safe" investments: a couple of dividend ETFs, a bond ETF, a total US market ETF, and a total "world" market ETF (excludes US market).

then i have a bit in an energy ETF... that one is a bit more risky, but sort of diversified w/ coal, oil, ng, elec. producers, distributors, etc.

and then... the smallest portion is in single stocks. this is the 'fun' portion that i am willing to lose entirely.

anyway, here's warren buffet's advice for the trustee of his wife's estate when warren dies: "What I advise here is essentially identical to certain instructions I've laid out in my will. One bequest provides that cash will be delivered to a trustee for my wife's benefit. (I have to use cash for individual bequests, because all of my Berkshire shares will be fully distributed to certain philanthropic organizations over the ten years following the closing of my estate.) My advice to the trustee could not be more simple: Put 10% of the cash in short-term government bonds and 90% in a very low-cost S&P 500 index fund. (I suggest Vanguard's.) I believe the trust's long-term results from this policy will be superior to those attained by most investors – whether pension funds, institutions or individuals – who employ high-fee managers."
>>
>>1229037
cool, so you are thinking like me. I also planned to put the rest I save in stocks (like 5%-10% of portfolio)

What do you guys think about the Swiss Franc? A lot of my colleagues just keep their money (CHF) as cash.

Why do we as a society act like jobs working at mcdonalds (or other fast food) or wal-mart (or other retail) are the kind of jobs that "any idiot can do" ? I mean I have really bad anxiety problems and there's no chance in hell I'd be able to handle the stress of that dealing with customers and shit all the time. Should we all just admit that there is no such thing as a job that anyone can do?

By definition, with or without your anxiety, you "can" do it
you just choose not to because you are letting anxiety control you

>I mean I have really bad anxiety problems and there's no chance in hell I'd be able to handle the stress of that dealing with customers and shit all the time

I don't really see how you would be able to function in adult life if you're unable to work a fucking McDonalds job.

What? Are you going to avoid going to the bankteller because "Muh anxiety"? Literally everything in life requires social interaction.

I would really like to see the kind of person who cannot work a job as a mcdonalds cashier. He must be all sorts of fucked up.

Explain to me, when you're talking to a cute girl, does your anxiety start acting up as well? What about when meeting new people? How the fuck do you even live you fucking /r9k/ zeta

Seriously /biz answer this for me, Why the fuck does everyone seem to be broke, There are countless articles that follow along the lines of "Living paycheck to paycheck" or "Having no money left over at the end of the week". Is everyone just retarded, Working jobs that pay fuck all then deciding to have children to worsen their problems?

I'm 20 years old, I work a normal job with a normal salary, I don't cut out all my expenses, I budget efficiently and have fuck loads left over, Just last week I flew to australia to go clubbing with friends, I was raised in an absolute normal environment where everything was worked for, No flash cars, No eating out, nothing.

So please explain this to me /biz and maybe share some of the problems you face that result in you having hardly anything left from your paychecks.

>So please explain this to me /biz and maybe share some of the problems you face that result in you having hardly anything left from your paychecks.

Well I can't speak for everyone but I can give you two reasons.

For me I live in a low salary area (Pittsburgh) with massive nepotism in getting the jobs that we do have, so it has been very hard to get employment with my accounting degree. And even when you do you might get a $14/hr bookkeeper job or something like that.

On the flip side I know a guy who got a job with our county (because of who he knew) and made lots of money. He saved up a lot of money and blew even more going out to dinner every night. Obviously though there isn't enough jobs like this for everyone here. County pays double to triple average salary here.

When I was poor it was because my family was leaching off of me.

A lot of people are just stupid though.

So /biz/, I hate to ask a question that's probably been asked a thousand times before, but what do you do for cash on the side?

I have two jobs, with one good job that MIGHT pan out, but I recently had to get an apartment rather than live on-campus at my college. Financial Aid is no option as my dad is a pipeliner that makes bank on a seasonal basis, so they assume my family is rich. I'm applying for as many scholarships as I can, but I don't want to exclusively count on those going through.

I was thinking of buying/selling shit from Craigslist on Ebay, but I have no clue where to start. I do computer repair on the side too, but business is slow in this new area.

Any ideas? Before college and this apartment breaks me?

Buy drugs on DNMs and sell them locally. You can get amazing prices if you look around. For me I can get almost anything for half the street price, I undercut local sellers by easily a quarter and only sell to rich/white people
>>
>>1226796
That's tempting, but that'll be a last resort if anything. Lol.

I've also considered getting my business license for my computer repair business strictly for the tax benefits, but I haven't got to do too much research on that. I've heard I could write off my personal phone as a work phone, and even travel in my car.

>>
>>1224712
You're going to be applying for the exact same jobs with an applied physics degree as an engineering degree
>>
>>1224718
the way I see it though with an applied physics degree, in addition to having those engineering jobs available, there's more opportunities in R&D than you would get with an engineering degree.
>>
>>1224724
Also. physics has alot of quant work you can do for finance. I know engineering can do that as well, but, physics are still more sought after and physics people tend to have masters, phds etc oppose to the engineering bachelors and fuck off.

>wagecuck

Anyway, I've lurked and posted on /biz/ for the past year or so about my fucked up college situation, though I've been granted admittance for the summer term and offered loans to cover it.

Still, I'm back in the old spot of not being able to afford them (and going requires moving away from my current, already shit-paying job).

So what jobs have that range of pay? I'm lolnoskills so entrepreneurship isn't really an option at the moment.

Current degree field is CE, thinking of changing to Biomed, though, to ride out the Boomer wave on research medicine for senescence.

So the U.S. Mint exchange is outdated and a lost cause now. Has anyone found other ways of earning reward points with little to no expenditure whike building credit?

Basically exchanging credit for equivalent currency that can then be returned to the account. Profiting in reward points.

Any ideas?
