so i bought a printer and printed some upc codes on labels, cut them out, and tomorrow i'm going through walmart self checkout and buying some stuff with them. similar items of the same brand, only a little more expensive. not significantly so, but enough to save me about 70% off. i'm going to try it out with the same item i want to get first, then i'll try it out with an item of a slightly higher value, i'll probably do this in the midst of a small grocery trip to disguise my purchase as well. the items im planning to buy ultimately (through self-checkout) are pet, outdoor, or tool related. i'm not looking to make money off this, i'm only looking to do this on a small, personal scale. nothing electronic or any groceries really. does /biz/ have any experience with this?

>>
you can get away with much more. as long as the items are the same weight you'll be fine. does walmart have people who check the receipts when you leave like in costco? cuz if not just go ham
>>
>>1234255
dont wanna go ham, dont wanna risk too much, if i do get caught it would land me in a lot of trouble if i went over a certain $$ amount of theft. some walmarts around here even have the option to not bag your stuff, same as home depot. no, nobody checks receipts unless you're hauling a 50" tv out in a cart.

i used to shoplift clothes and groceries but this seems like a safer route these days. legally its worse, but there's less chances of getting caught if you look like you're paying for the items.
>>
>>1234252
They pricematch

You can just lie and say it costs whatever different at xyz mart and no one checks

How good of an investment would a vehicle be for a college student?
I'm finishing my first year, and I've concluded that I need a car for commenting more efficiently opposed to taking the bus.
So, for those who have experience, how good of an investment would this be?

I need something that is reliable. I'm not getting a new car until I graduate, but as of now I'm thinking maybe $10k for something that wouldnt go to shit so quickly.

>How good of an investment would a vehicle be for a college student?

A deprecating asset with more costs added on(fuel, maintenance, repairs, tickets) is not an investment, it's a liability.

>but as of now I'm thinking maybe $10k for something that wouldnt go to shit so quickly.

There is virtually no difference between a $3k car and $10k car in terms of practical usage.
>>
>>1234211
This is not an investment, this is a money sink.
>>1234216

No. There is significant difference in the amount of maintenance one would have to do between those two ranges. If you buy a car with $10k, you're not going to worry about a head gasket, struts, compressor, etc Buy a $3k car and you can have fun replacing everything from the windshield wipers to the timing belt

Is Amazon going down the path of Twitter?

How long before Bezos goes broke trying to appease the r8c b8rs?

Maybe communities should clean up their neighborhoods and stop enabling the shit heads?

In my city, the northern area keeps bitching that there are no businesses except for chemical manufacturing and oil refineries. Well guess what you dumb black retards? Nobody is going to open up a fucking movie theater if they think the patrons are going to get robbed.

The sad thing is the politicians from the area know it too, but a lot of the people there act the victim(which they are in a way) instead of cleaning up the community.

Ergo, I don't blame Amazon, or any company for that matter, for being hesitant to deliver to crime ridden neighborhoods.
>>
I think this is more ass-covering to avoid discrimination suits, not sincere SJW-minded activism like Twitter. Bezos is pretty libertarian, donated to Reason magazine for instance.
>>
I used to live in an area where UPS and Fedex required a signature on all deliveries.

Would you also believe that the majority of the homes were section 8?

>"I have respect for Jeff Bezos, but he bought The Washington Post to have political influence, and I gotta tell you, we have a different country than we used to have," Trump said during a speech in Texas on Friday (see clip below). "He wants political influence so that Amazon will benefit from it. That's not right. And believe me, if I become president, oh, do they have problems. They're going to have such problems."

What will Bezos do when Trump stumps him?

This. Government has become so shit that a criminal, a skeleton communist, and a con-artist have all claimed top spots for presidency. I didn't think our gov't could get any more corrupt than it already is, but I guess we'll find out how soon regardless of who is president...

Depends on the PM. Unlike a doctor or a pilot, anyone can call himself a HF manager without a licence or a badge. All you need is a prime broker, an auditor and a legally reviewed offering memorandum.

Lots of former bank traders have set up their own HF's and are delivering consistent, above market returns. They are having a nice time, don't need to wear ties and attend silly meetings anymore. You'll never hear of those, because they have their network (e.g. investors) by the time they go live linded up already, and rarely accept new clients.

Then there are the wannabes. They heard of the obscene amount of $$$ one can make as a HF PM, and want a piece of the cake. They don't care about such details like lack of experience, track record or capabilites. All they're aiming for are models and bottles. They burn their clients money while charging really high fees and give the whole industry a bad name.

True story.
>>
If we are going to follow the EMH they like to teach at school then no. And if you look at the average hedge funds you can see that they are shit and never do better than the market - but there are clearly some funds which have actually been able to achieve above market returns - whether by luck or skill is hard to say, though I'd probably assume many of the short term succesful ones are just lucky.

Give me one reason I shouldn't put all my savings into AMD. It literally can fail. There are three things that can happen.

1. It recovers, and the stock goes to nvidia levels, which is a 1000% increase.

2. It goes bankrupt and anti-monopoly laws forces some other company to buy it, which would double the price, and triple the value.

3. ^^Point two, but Without the bankruptcy.

4. Nothing happens, it just sits here, barely keeping it debt under control.

Literally not a bad bet actually, there's much worse ways to invest. I can see this being similar to just putting all your savings into s&p, just at a higher risk level.

You are both retarded. AMD is bankrupt because most of their RND has been sold. They no longer own alot of the patents that they developed for their processors. They're shrinking while trying to find a leg to stand on, and they have nothing innovative that they're working on. They're buried in debt and the stock has no dividend. You are fools if you buy them. You will lose your money when you are unable to sell.

I know python, MATLAB, excel and C++. I'm studying applied physics so obviously I know quite a lot of math and physics. I've taken a few econ/finance classes on the side. I'm looking to be a consultant next to being a student to hopefully earn some extra income.

What type of businesses should I approach to offer consulting services considering my skillset? Basically what are some good places to look for people/businesses who could benefit from what I know?

Btw just so there's no confusion I would consider helping a local small business improve their website for $500 'consulting'.

I stayed in the Jumeirah, next to the Burj in your picture.
One of the days I was there, there was a line of Indian guys applying for work stretching all the way from the entrance down to the main road, and along side it (probably a few hundred).
They were all wearing slacks and dress shirts, despite the fact it was about 113 degrees.
Sounds competitive, to say the least.
