I got $500 on my university card and this money can't be refunded. The only way I can spend it is by buying shit on the university store. If I don't use that money, it will simply vanish because I'm finishing uni this week. They have an electronics store with some overpriced stuff, but it seems some apple things are close to amazon prices.
I will also have to move to a new place this week, and I've been thinking of just buying an IPad and trying to offer as part of the payment of a rent, without a lot of success so far. I also thought about buying an Ipad and selling it back in my shithole country that I will go back to in september for 2x the price. But money now is worth more than money in the future... Any suggestions?

Well, i don't know if this is the right board. But it's the closer to job interviews or curriculum information that i found.

Long time ago there was a thread from a guy that did job interviews and he told us some tips.
Specially, he said that you could cheat your resume and say you know languages you don't by stating you know just the very basic.
The exact example was more or less:
"If you know the greek alphabet, for example, you can say you know very basic greek. This is a plus, because it gives you contact with another culture, even being virtually nothing and no one is going to demand that you speak it fluently"
So? Anyone can confirm that? I tried searching on google, but did not find anything that specific.

No, don't bs. Just make sure you sell yourself in one or two pages (if you have that much experience that is). For example, I and a lot of my friends (who own a business) really look for bullshitting for middle tier to high tier jobs. We can easily detect anomalies and usually go on about those things, like the Greek thing. You will lose your credibility and I always notify my friends and surrouding companies. So, it is not worth the risk.
>>
>>1294035
But how can one tell that it's bullshit?
If a problem comes and the greek is needed, can't i just say it's too advanced for me?
And anyways, knowing a little bit is still knowledge. Doesn't that enters as culture?
>>
>>1294072
Easy. If the statement is vague or very basic, but carries a lot of value, I will engage in interrogation. For example, last time I had someone who said he "studied in Australia and in Germany" and therefore had international experience. When I pressed him for a full 10 min (it was a hard one) he finally admitted that he had only studied three months in Germany and half a year (of which most of it was vacation) in Australia and that he had lived in a rural town. Thus, there were superior candidates with more honest CV's. I just want to weed out all the morons first. They are the lemmons of the job market. My recommendation is that you sell yourself, but don't make stuff up.

Is it worth it to open an online store where you can buy for example Japanese imported Whiskey. I'm located in Germany and there is already one but I wonder in general if that is a good idea. Would this be a full-time job or can it be done while I'm studying?

My rule-of-thumb these days is "never invest in anything food or beverage related". The only time I've ever been burned is with businesses like these. Even what looks like a slam-dunk has gone bad.

Proper question here /biz

I've been lurking for a long time and have seriously thought about investing for the long term. I have a my own business and I've been taking 2500 euro's as my salary of which I put 500 back into the business as a loan to the company every month. I've been doing this because I don't need the money and I get 3% interest as opposed to just putting it in a low interest savings account. Should I even bother investing? I know I would have to do some homework to keep myself updated on news of stocks and I don't really have the time to do so (because of the business and my 1 year old).

Also the money I put back into the company is readily available (plenty cashflow) and I've already payed taxes so its free to take in case of emergency.

Should I still look into investing or just keep my 3% carefree interest?

Pic related its what I do

Pretty sure what you're doing isn't legal, or if it is, you're double taxed on this money.
>>
Country of residence is holland btw

Neat job anon!

As for investing. It's all about diversifying. To invest straight in stock is risky Imo unless you know what you are doing.
To get a3% return look for managed funds. Depending on your appetite you can invest at various risk degrees but a min. 3% should be easy to achieve.

So i have 1 just ONE credit card account. My last closing date was June 6. I paid it COMPLETELY off. Yet when i check my FICO score my credit card utilization is still at 20% utilization. Stupid as credit union hasnt updated their shit since MAY! Even though i owe $0 to my credit lender, my credit score has gone down to 686! I used to sit at a steady 708. What can i do in order for the credit lender to see that i PAID my damn credit card already?

Sorry for any spelling mistakes, I'm lowkey mad.
14 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
FYI your lenders only update once every 30-45 days. It isnt instant.

Also FYI, paying off balances lowers credit score. You have to keep a revolving 10-15% credit utilization for optimal score.

Think of it like this. Your FICO score isnt how good of credit you have. It is a score that tells a lender how profitable you will be. If you arent paying interest or utilizing credit, your score is lower than if you were being bled dry
>>
You should probably just chill and reevaluate in a couple weeks.
>>
>>1293639
I use my credit card a lot, but I always pay it on time. That means my shit goes down from this? But then how did i get it from 697, to 708 by doing just this?

FAQs

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade.
It's also pretty basic software.

> When is it coming to my country?
Probably never. They only have plans on an Australian beta ( https://robinhood.com/au/).

> It's been X days, why isn't my account isn't verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.

> Is this the right place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
No, please go to Stocktwits, Plebbit, or one of our many chat groups.

> What's a good penny stock to invest in?
Don't buy penny stocks you cum guzzling mouth breathing retard.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using Yahoo/Google finance or even Stocktwits for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Better business/career prospects, higher wages, better culture and quality of life

What do you guys say when the topic of Investing, money, general finance comes up with family/friends/etc?

Do you actually discuss it? Personally I just play dumb and say things like "Yeah I've heard of that... don't know too much though..." just to probe their knowledge and to see if I should ignore anything they ever say.

Your friends most think you are retarded if you say you dont know anything about general finance, money and investing. You can be certain that they discard everything you say famelam.

It all depends on who im talking with. Im pretty honest with my family but ill talk down how much money i have with friends since i dont want to make them jelly. GF dosnt know that much either but since we been together for years she is picking up some bones
>>
>>1293246
Well I mean I discuss personal finance obviously but I don't go into things like my networth or what I'm holding and such.

It just isnt worth it. Maybe everyone I know is a shithead but they wouldn't understand anything.

I've tried before and when it got down to it I said something like "Yeah well you can expect about 8% returns per year on average so it's not really excessive..." and they looked at me like I had shit falling out of my face.

The furthest ANYONE I know has gotten into "investing" and"finance" is MLM, bank mutual funds and some other retarded shit
>>
>>1293246
Also even mentioning networth is enough to get them into a frenzy.

Who /mba/ here? Are there any business related clubs like those in undergraduate? How do you "make connections"? MBA gives experience that you would gain over a few decades in business in a few years.

But yes, the main thing they are good for is networking.

Just got a cushy healthcare finance job from my professor!
>>
MBA is probably the most over priced and over rated degree that's probably on par with the art history majors today. Real business is learned in the field and with experience. You will never be good at business listening to some dipshit academic liberal with no real world experience.

I been on /biz/ everyday. Not once was gevo was mentioned fuck face.

Hey /biz/,
I'm small business owner and my next step in growth is accepting credit cards and debit cards more readily. I would like to accept cards online through a payment gateway (currently do not have my own website), through mobile remotely, point of sale mobile, and through electronic invoice(unsure if that counts as online). I have been looking around and I feel pretty lost in the options and I wonder if they offer what I truly want. Any small /biz/ owners that can lend a little information to help me out? This is the next step for my company.

have you considered Square? you literally plug it into your mobile phones audio jack and you can swipe credit/debit cards through it and accept payments through your smart phone.

google it: Square mobile payment processing
>>
>>1292890
I currently use square for mobile processing. It's what I am looking to grow out of. I want to do remote processing of cards on an app that my customers can download, or a program in which I can put in the information over the phone, or perhaps entered in by the customer themselves.
>>
>>1292890
We do remote technical support at times. We can't just come by and have them swipe their cards. Perhaps a way to send out an electronic invoice that they can pay right on their computers.

I worked at a restaurant for a day, and I was suppose to get 7.25 (minimum wage) for the training, and i get my check and its only 5.00 flat. Is it worth calling and bitching about it? Because i'm down 14 dollars because of it. Also if they tell me to fuck off, can I threaten any action even if i dont plan on following up on the action? The kitchens walls were falling off and flys everywhere. Disgusting, i could say something about the better business bureu i guess

Your restaurant expects you to be paid in TIPS.
It is the culture your country has created, spit in your customers food if they don't tip you, simple right? No.
That's why the business is fucked for pizza delivery fuckbois and waiters & basically anyone working in anything fast food/restaurant related.
Yes, bitch at your restaurant, tell them that you're not expecting tips, specially if you're the cook. How the fuck is a customer going to tip the chef or similar?
do whatever, don't be a slave.
>>
>>1293606
Are you retarded? There's a minimum wage in USA. If service staff are paid below it and do not make up the balance in tips, the employer must pay that balance.

The culture of your country has failed you, retard.
