Who here has gone to uni/college? Has it actually helped your career? Did you drink and smoke your way through college passing classes and remember nothing about it? Thank you bros
>>1298885
I went to uni and it did help my career. Though I didn't get a career in my discipline, my first grad job I got paid pretty well and jump started my career. (Engineering > Banking)
I can't remember shit about uni besides the basic stuff but I did tryhard to get good marks
went to a cheap school for digital media only for the degree. I already knew the majority of what I'd be learning in classes but
>that piece of paper lul
Smoked and drank my way through and remembered the interesting classes that I took that were entirely irrelevant to my study. I took archeology, psychology and a few religion and philosophy classes, and those were probably the best experiences I got out of going to college.
So it did help my career because I wouldn't have got an internship without
>that piece of paper lul
but it helped me grow personally in other ways, learning things I would probably never be able to learn on my own and doing it in an engaged classroom with other people.
all around it was probably worth it.
>>1298885
Studied CS.
Most of career credentials for my current job were picked up while shut in my room doing things other than homework in hs adn college. College didn't teach me about full stack webdev or Linux administration.
But college research and electives taught me the fundamentals of distributed computing and AI, and that's what I really want to do. And I have those projects on my resume which attract interest periodically, as well as related side projects.
I have fitty hundred on me.. how do I become rich quick? I have little to no education and talents. I only like to take calculated risks.
That's nothing.

I cant think of a single product (cars, machines etc..) that italians make that is superior to german/czech/austrian competition in terms of reliability... Its almost like italy was a country that would break down and ditch their allies during a war... I dont know much history tho...
>>1298730
italians make better cars than germans, only that burgers are hard for german "engineering" because of the nazi-engineers building your industry after WW2 and no burger being able to afford an italian car.
>>1298730
they make reasonably better price/value transporters and trucks. at least most of the transporters you see here is fiat dublo while most cars are german or japanese. iveco has less share in the truck market tho than fiat in the transporter market.
>>1298806
sorry doblo and ducato damn these two are everywhere.
>tfw your inheritance is finally out of probate
>>1298664
How much?
Just note that a contingency lawyer will be able to look up your probate and ruin your life.
>>1298678
After the gibbement taxed the entire estate my share amounted to 750k.
What is a contingency lawyer?
>>1298681
NICE!
Sorry about whoever had to die.
Lawyers that work for no cash down, but take a % of winnings. Suppose
>you get in a drunken fight with some guy
>guy finds out your name
>he has an uncle who is a contingency lawyer
>lawyer gets some aid to check the probate list
>sees you got 750k
>sues you, hopes to settle out of court
>makes thousands for a few hours paper work
Don't mean to scare you, but it's kind of public record you got some cash so act accordingly.

hemmm. Could it be that someone is misrepresenting something?
hey /biz/ i'm starting college soon and I wanted some opinions. I couldn't decide on what I wanted since I've had mixed feelings on various different majors that i wanted to pursue so I've just decided I'll settle with Software Engineering. I've been programming since 13 and it's just ridiculously easy so I'm wondering, is it a waste to get a sw eng degree if I already know a ton of shit about it? Should I try pursuing something else? and assuming i do go for the sw eng degree, can I use that knowledge to build my own software business? I really just feel like since it's so easy it might make me want to kms when im sitting in class learning shit i already know.
it's a fucking waste you picked software engineering.
best bet is to have strong knowledge in 2 different domains.
>>1298626
What else would I go for? Finance?
>>1298626
^ this is a shit answer
I have a fucking associates degree in music and a six figure job in the data sciences.
Listen OP the two most important things to learn in college, are how to study, and how to socialize/network.
Software engineering is a great idea. Just stay switched on
Long story short, I have five unpaid parking citations that average to the amount of $600. They accumulated over the semester due to the fact that the DMV sent my registration sticker to the wrong address and I couldn't get a new one within a forty day period, which lead to the accumulation of $40 citations that then doubled as I was unable to pay for them as a full-time student without being able to pay for rent, gas, food, etc. Now, I'm on summer and have a little extra cash, but does /biz/ know if there's anyway I can turn this negative into a positive?
Bank of America will offer my a free $100 to file for a credit card, so I think I'm going to do that and charge it all off there and thus build my credit while simultaneously undoing this shit situation.
But seriously, fuck my city PD and the fact that they target minority areas.
Fucking racist cops... Targeting black and brown cars.
Buy a white car.
>>1298584
I live in a densely ethnic-populated area near the college full of mixed families and some transfer students and each month the cops roll through a certain time to meet their quota attempting to collect on cars for any violation. It's something I never saw living in predominately white areas of the same or lesser income level.

T H I C C
>housing becomes increasingly unaffordable
>market crash
>everyone tries to buy the dip
>bidding wars on limited housing supply
>house price remains same pre-crash, if not more because no one is willing to sell their house after a crash
>interest rates go up
>make many mortgages that were already stretched, unserviceable.
>forced to sell to escape bankruptcy, or just give it to the bank
>>1298573
Your assuming everyone buys the dip, but what if the country in below full employment, are there other exogenous factors like a slow down consumption of that countries or your own. If suddenly the populations houses are worth less people feel less wealthy and are less inclined to buy items to drive aggregate demand. In turn more people lose jobs. This is why when there is speculation of a bubble, the aim is to deflate it slowly and stop speculation through prudential regulations. Personally I would love a good crash, but if a crash were to happen and banks tighten up lending people might find it very hard to take advantage of it.
>>1298573
>make many mortgages that were already stretched, unserviceable.
OP is Canadian and talking about Toronto or Vancouver. There's a lot of Chinese coming and paying straight cash.
The actual City of Vancouver (pop. 600k) has an average house price of 1.5 million USD. Almost half of those houses are bought by Chinese, and 70% of them do so without a mortgage.
Vancouver is like Asian Miami.

What is the market value of men compared to the market value of women? Could there be a danger with "overinflating" the value of women with affirmative action and taxes?
Do you know of any literature that deals with the topic? Sorry if this comes off as bait-y, I'm genuinely interested
