Are there any socialists/communists/anarchists on /biz/. I don't necessarily know where I stand politically speaking, but I want to get insight on how business would work in these ideologies.

They don't work

It's literally Utopian fantasy.

>Anarcho capitalism will work because muh non aggression principle and all this other theoretical bullshit

>Communism will work because everyone will share and be kind and innovate with no incentive!

>Fast food chains, trucking companies, farms and factories across the country switch to robots and automation technology, cutting back 90% of their workforce in the process
>20 Million Jobs lost
>Public outrage ensues

What do?

How do we avoid this situation without passing up the benefits of automation?

So a continuation of the last 600 years but with robots instead of machines.
>>

Yes, kind of, but I think that with the current world population and the capabilities of automation, the impact will be much faster and more devastating.

In the past it has simply taken less people to do the same job because they make the work easier and implementation has been very slow and usually in only one or two fields at a time, now we have the ability to erase many jobs across a variety of fields.

I mean there are only so many jobs that are immune to automation, most of those either require a high level of education (Engineers, Doctors mechanics etc) or require creativity (Artists, musicians etc) which many people do not possess.

I'm pretty new to investing, still learning about stocks and shares, etc. But I am interested in opening an index tracker fund. The issue is I don't have that much money, probably the most I could put in initially would be around £2000 ($2850) and I will then be putting in around £200 ($285) a month but probably increasing in future.

All of the index trackers I have seen require at least £100,000 to start with. Are there any which don't have a set sign up amount or have a lower amount? If not, what are some savings schemes that pay compound interest that I could join with this amount? Or should I just keep all my money in ISAs (tax free savings accounts - similar to IRAs in USA). Bear in mind I'm looking for UK accounts.

You can use robinhood if you are in the us and buy Vanguard funds.

If you are from another country you can check drivewealth, since it only charges 2.99 per trade.

Thanks mate, no I am not in the US so I would have to go down this route, but isn't there anyway I can do it without opening a dollar based trading account? Surely there must be some UK based options?

>Ethereum would be worth $100 a coin right now if this autist had named it something catchy like "bitcoin" and not something that sounded like startrek gibberish

I like the name. I hate ethereum shills, and I'll never buy, but I like the name.
>>
It being designed as another shitty p&p ruined it

If you have to buy bitcoins before you can buy your coin, then your coin is a pump and dump

Bitcoin is the one and only crypto. The rest are just there to scam people

The only reason shitcoins like Litecoin and Eth are not zero is because too many bagholders bought in at the top and their ego won't let them realize a loss, so they pray to an autistic Russian.

Can't wait to see Trump crash in another month or so.

>muh technology
>>
>>1298646
Hehe nice ID.

I agree that no matter what else it may or may not have going for it, eth is a shitty pump and dump scam, and therefore will never be taken seriously. You can thank the 'crypto community' for that.

Also, OPs pic. I mean, really. He looks like a little tweaker kid and he probably is. He'll continue to cash out his share to fiat, you can bet on that.

What's your endgame, /biz/?

Look, I'll be straight here. I want to buy like $60 of shares of a stock. I have a custodial account with Edward Jones my father set up for me in, like, 2005. It has like $62 of market value. I have zero other stock or finance experience.

I want to buy $60 of shares of this specific stock. Can I do that through Edward Jones online? Am I going to have to call the place? Or should I just open up an account with TradeKing or something and purchase it through them, and make a miniscule trade like twice a year to avoid their inactivity fee? I just want to buy a small amount of this one stock basically for fun, honestly.

I'm a dependent on my father's tax return, and I'm currently working under the table for a friend's business. Will I just list "Savings" or something as my source of income?

I know, I'm a complete idiot about this shit. Just help me out, man.

What does /biz/ think of Peter Schiff? Is a dollar collapse inevitable?
30 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1298406
Yes. Yes it is. On an infinite timeline all currencies will collapse.

Schiff has been wrong for about 5 years now, and he may be wrong for another 20-30 years, however.
>>
>>1298414
>he may be wrong for another 20-30 years

I don't know about that. He seems to have been calling the FED's moves these last 6 months pretty spot on.
>>
He's the perfect example of le broken clock is right twice a day meme. He kept yelling collapse for a decade and it finally happened, even though it was for entirely different reasons than he said, and now he always points to that as if it means anything. He is a gold shill nothing more.

What does /biz/ think of investing in Bitcoin gambling sites?

Unlike the HashOcean Ponzi it actually has a sustainable business model, and ones like Satoshi Dice are reputable so chances of walking away with coins is low.

ROI is roughly 30% year from the research I've done. For people investing in bitcoins hoping they'll rise back to the moon, seems like the best way to put your coins to use in the mean time.
28 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Why would a bitcoin gambling site accept investors? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Successful models like that stay privately owned. Anything else is a scam
>>
>>1298413
Investors put their bitcoins towards the sites bankroll, allowing them to take larger and larger bets while still staying solvent. They have a 2% edge (other sides have different edges). Satoshi site takes 50% of the profits and gives 50% back to investors.
>>
>>1298400
satoshi dice is an attack on bitcoin it tries to overwhelm the network with small meaningless transactions, and there is an other bot that tries to make satoshi dice lose with double spend attacks which on the other hand taints the bitcoins and thus the network.

so no i would never use satoshi dice.

Use stupid tricks to engage the audience.
>"Everybody stand up"
>"Now shake your neighbor's hands"
>"See how easy it is to make connections?"
>"That ties into the buttplugs I'm selling because..."
It engages people and boosts your confidence when a large group does what you tell them

Is that actually worth it?

Hey so whats the deal? Ethereum can't seem to crack $15 even with all the DOA hype and Bitcoin can't crack $600 even with the halving hype. If they are struggling to hold on to their current price now, what happens when all the hype dies out? Sad days we live in for cryptotards.

Is the Dollar going to collapse?

How?

Why?

What will the US Reserve currency be afterwards?
33 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>1296986

All fiat currency is eventually worthless.

Right now we're waiting on 2008 Recession: Part Deux. It will be worse than 08 was by far.

None of the fundamental problems that caused it have been addressed, only papered over. Banks and business that fail are not supposed to be saved. If the government had only let the system fail and work itself out rather than prop it up, we wouldn't be so fucked.

These bubbles will pop, and when they do, it will be ugly.

If you want your answer. Look into Roman's currency, as we're following in their foot steps exactly.

> gold currency
> fiet currency
> economic boom
> gold currency*
> end of Rome

*Our gold currency is China.

History repeats itself all day everyday.

Why are people still running down the biotech sector, /biz/?

Okay, a lot of the companies people invested in ten years ago have gone nowhere. But serious progress is now being made in developing new small molecule and genetic therapies for a wide range of indications, including in dermatology, oncology, gerontology and ophthalmology.

How much longer will the 'biotech bubble' meme go on for?

If you wait for final FDA approval for some of these extremely promising drugs in stage III and stage II clinical trials, you're going to miss the boat.
