This should be interesting.
Which Language helps you most in today's world, for say, the next 20-30 years?
>>1367792
It really depends on where you live. For example why should you learn chinese if you live in Europe? There are very few chinese businessmen/women there. A better language to learn in Europe could be German or French.
>>1367792
Only English will matter in business. Languages are only useful if you wanna work in another country.
>>1367824
THIS THIS THIS.
English is king. It is the language of business, the language of the internet, and the language of science.
Learning a 2nd language is really just a gimmick.
That being said, if you REALLY want to learn a 2nd language, the only 2 worth anything at all are: German and Chinese.
Tomorrow I have an interview for a junior audit position at PWC. I guess you could say their office is in a smaller town. What should I keep in mind?
>>1367775
I don't know bro, you've done well getting an interview for one of the big four, good luck! :)
>>1367775
They'll work you to the bone there op should you get it. Good money but you get 0 social life
Just a heads up
Don't talk about yourself. Just tell them about your experiences in past jobs and if you don't have any work experience then explain your leadership and school work. Dress well and knock out the technical questions. They want to know if you know the basics of the job. Don't sperg out on knowing this or that. It can hurt you.
Extreme noob question here but it should be easy to answer. Okay so let's say you want to invest in stocks how do you actually do it. Do you just call the company and say hey I'll invest? Is there some sort of website. Thanks in advance I'm super new to this

What are some profitable types of small businesses that one could start in Miami and have reasonable hope to be successful?
a bar
>>1367671
I'm 18, idk enough about alcohol. Anything else?
In Miami?
1. Start a food delivery business where you deliver other people's food. We have one in my city and it's doing well. I would pay someone to bring me Pollo Tropicale.
2. Street food vendor/food truck, there's always room for it.
3. Rent real estate to vacationers. Be prepared for spring breakers to fuck up your shit.
4. Buy LEGAL drugs and sell them at clubs without representing them at something illegal. When said legal drugs become illegal switch to the new formula. (you might kill some people doing this)
5. Freight forwarding if you have the cash.
6. Try operating a bonded warehouse and lease out space in it.
7. When imports and exports with Cuba open up you could get in on that action.
What kind of math is idea for financial modeling/estimating noise? For example, if one were to attempt to mathematically map the noise patterns in a Black–Scholes model, what is the idea undergraduate mathematical and statistical background? I'm currently considering topology, differential geometry, group theory, graph theory, probability theory, and stochastic processes.
Any financial analysis anons in here whom would be willing to help?
>>1367623
Good luck finding someone on this board who knows what half of those words mean.
>>1367623
>the noise patterns in a Black–Scholes model
What? I thought the idea of Black Scholes was that the noise cancels each other out.
Anyway OP, look into partial differential equations and mathematical finance. A good background in probability and statistics is required.

Hey /biz/. I am heading to myrtle beach for a family vacation, and I wanna make some money while I am there. I thought about dropping 20-30 dollars on refreshments like water, ice cream and Gatorade, but I am not sure if there is a better idea.
Any advice/ Anything I should know?
I would sell the refreshments for a profit although I dont know how effective this will be, or if I need a vending license since I would be mobile.
Get a metal detector and search the beach for hidden treasure.

United States tax questions
I need your help to avoid being murdered by the tax man this year.
I started working for a small business this year, and my boss pays under the table. I never filled out tax forms when I started and just figured it was because of the turnover rate, however I asked and learned that he doesn't have any real employees on paper. The issue here is that he pays in checks, so there's no way of avoiding paying taxes. I use mobile deposit so I still have all the checks and have them stored together. How do I prepare for tax time? When the tax man wants to know who I work for, what could happen if they audit and find I'm not a true employee?
The other two employees aren't very responsible individuals, I asked what they did for tax season and they both said nothing.
Small business owner here.
You're kinda fucked, and your owner might be kinda fucked as well.
If he went the "under the table" route he should have paid you in cash, not checks. So there would be no record. And he should have instructed you not to let that cash touch a bank account.
But now the record exists.
So, I have heard many small biz owners say you can get away with not filing, and have the employees not file as well. But it is a gamble, and if the IRS does find out they are gonna fuck you both, especially the employer.
How much did you make? If it was $25k or less I would just roll the dice and not file, you'll prob be fine. But if you made $35k or more, then you definitely need to file. As for the employer, IDK what is gonna happen to them, they are rolling the dice.

Your boss is involved with drugs isn't he? This is a marijuana business.
>>1367652
Tree service, no drugs.
>>1367629
I'll be making around 30,000. I'm mainly concerned about keeping myself clean and out of trouble, he's been in business for 17 years now. If I file the income tax and have records will the IRS leave me alone? Is there any good way to bring this up with my boss?
For the first time since the financial crisis, US 30-year yield is less than the S&P 500 dividend yield.

Tfw you bought btc this morning because you thought it was a dip
>>1367509
Weird I bought the dip and made $15 per coin before I sold and went to sleep. Was thinking about buying the retest this morning but I went to go buy some groceries and came back and price fell through new lows.
560ish is nice place to buy at least in my opinion.
Moral is when in a trade, you are a risk manager, not a trader.
>>1367509
I'd say buy now because we're doing better than June and the price is going down. I'm thinking the price goes up and down next month but eventually slowly ends up in the $1000s.
