Currently at a point in life where I realize I should do something more than just chug along at work and deposit into my 401k/savings.
I've been looking at getting into short term trading recently, as I'm young, but taking home a large salary from work, and can stand to lose some of my money to train a skill that makes significantly more money.
Futures looked like a good idea due to their volatility and leverage, mainly Oil futures is what I've dabbled in.
But I've also heard on many sites about the potential of options, but have never personally traded with those.
What is the best choice for someone who is young, financially stable, and wants to make money in risky markets due to said financial stability.
>I have 10k in savings.
>I put roughly 2k a month into savings also from job
>not afraid to lose 2k a month practicing, i consider it a tution fee.
So you want to take the stability and sacrifice it? Is that what I'm reading here? I understand that you have the ability to withstand some losses, but in options (which work similarly to futures), the risk you are taking is total loss of your invested amount. Buy stable, dividend paying companies instead. Do that because the stability you have will give you time to compound those returns. There is a widespread belief that taking on more risk means greater reward opportunity, and that's simply not true.

You can learn part time?
If so, I'm in.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, trading long term with 10k will make as much as trading short term?
If that's true, I'll go down that path. But where should I start?

Looking for free platforms to start learning how to trade and don't involve cash deposits. Could be 30-day trial but I'd prefer it could be used for an indefinite amount of time so I could take my time with the stock market. A thread was posted some days ago but I forgot to save it.
>pic related an interface like that would be pretty neat

I don't understand what you mean by no cash deposits?
You mean you want to paper trade without having a real money account?

why are bosses such assholes to their employees?
i started a new job and the boss is a dick. he is such as asshole to most of the workers including me who just started. i get the feeling he might fire me soon because i'm not what he expected. i ask him something more then once and he gets pissed on why i ask him. i thought today he was going to fire me because i was having trouble with a task he gave me. and he was pissed on why i took so long. he was telling me "your done" multiple times. and when i confronted him if i'm fired or not he just walked away from me.
i swear man i left my old job because of fucked up people only to find them in the next job. but at least this place isn't bad so far apart from the boss compared to my old job
Poor training

youre gonna find petty tyrants at every turn in life
>>1368130
I had a shitty boss @ a time when I really needed my job. @ one point I even felt as though she was looking for a reason to fire me. Quitting wasn't an option for me so I decided to work harder. So hard she could not deny I was a good employee. After a while her petty shit just melted away, but she was still passively aggressive, denying me training because "there is no time", while finding the time to train other people. So I trained myself in both my own department and others as well. While I work under the principal that everyone is expendable, I've made myself into a person that is not easy to fire, and I try to never take it for granted. I work as hard today as I did then.
My point is OP, sometimes people above you are shitty. You can bitch about it and sometimes we all just need to vent, but if you take that energy and invest it in yourself instead, you will come out on top.
Fuck, I'm in math undergrad and I got me a 3 week internship at this company working for "calculations". I thought it was gonna be cool as shit, and that I'd have to do stuff like solve DEs with Matlab or Python. Turns out that the "calculations" division only deals with stuff quotations. What the fuck do I do? I start on Monday.
"stuff quotations" needs to be "stuff like quotations".

Welcome to the real world I guess. Everything you learn in your degree and most of what you learn in high-school is superfluous... but you still need those bits of paper to get the jerb.

I really have searched for plenty of material related to the financial markets (stock, Forex, commodity, derivatives markets), and I'm frankly spoilt for choice on what I can start reading about. What I really want to know is what's the quickest and most efficient way for me to getting into the financial markets industry.

I swear the assistant facilities manager on my floor is pissing me off.
The gents loo on my floor has been out of order for TWO YEARS now because she and the building facilities manager hate each other and can't agree to who should arrange for repairs.
We asked if we can use the ladies loo in the meantime but saying no was the one thing the all-female facilities managers could agree to. The joke is that the assistant facilities manager is one of the only two women on the floor (out of 30 people).
Anyway this morning she left a note in the kitchen saying we shouldn't be leaving our stuff on the drying rack overnight. Likely directed at me because I leave my teapot there after giving it a rinse when I leave every day.
And I will NOT stop doing it.
