What should I do if I want to become rich?

have a good idea and work your ass off.

Start a successful business of some kind.
Should I go to uni and get a bachelors degree in real estate? Tons of rich people that ive seen all have got it from real estate. It was either uni for that or to be in exercise science/nutritionist. Thoughts?

What city are you in?
If you grab real-estate in a city like Vancouver/Toronto then that is a no brainer. You can live for a year off the commission of a single house sold.
I'm going to go for that degree myself after studying mechanical engineering. Going where the money is.

Do you have a specific career path in mind? I ask because I am in real estate but my gut instinct tells me it would be better to get a degree in something else that is related to the area of real estate or the job within real estate that interests you and learn real estate on the side. Depending on what you are like economics, accounting, finance, tax, psychology/financial psychology, construction management, construction related engineering (If this exists? I'd say being an architect is too involved although architects obviously can transition very easily into expert roles within real estate functions.) even a law degree with an intent to specialize in real estate law
I would look really hard at what the supposed career paths are with a real estate major and just consider if you might be better served majoring in something else and applying that. Real estate has tons of niches involving a wide variety of skill sets and I don't know how useful a real estate degree itself would be compared to the above. I could be wrong though, just speaking from my experience in my area of the business where I never deal with people who majored in real estate. Not that I would look down on it, I just don't know much about it and it seems that general real estate concepts are easy enough to pick up through self study or side study if you are really interested
I got hit by a car while on my motorycle, not my fault, I have admittnce of guilt through text messages. Full incrimination on the dudes part. I did not call the police, we exchanged info and i thought it would be a regular process. This was a month ago and I find out today from laywers that he is not cooperating. I call him and he nervously tells me he does not have insurance. I am missing work opportunities and used up some funds while taking work off, what the hell do I do? What are my options?
idk
You have to eat his weiner

You can't do shit unless your insurance company wants to sue him. This is what "Uninsured Motorist Coverage" is expressly for.
Lets assume i'm going to get $400. What stocks, in 7/11/16, should I invest in order to flip it into $1000 after X amount of time?

If only you bought ORT a month or so ago on the TSX..
Climbed 13.24% today.
Their HPA Plant is about to fire up and get contracts.

Never invested before, but after I saw the S&P 500 go to record highs today, I got inspired.
>>1375386
OH.. well then your already breaking the cardinal rule of "Buy low, sell high"
You don't get in when it's at the top, you get in on a crash.
The last crash was BREXIT day.
The one prior to that was when oil hit below $25/bbl back in late January / early February.
Inspired yes, but don't be stupid and get sucked in on highs.
The fuck is going on guys?
>>1375312
Hahahahahaha
Sell now. Forecast to drop as low as $1.86
That's hilarious. Yesterday anons were saying that MGT was going to rise at least 5% today because of a proxy meeting? Well now it looks like dilution is being priced in for the new issuance of shares for their acquisitions.
I've been running a meme level music business with a friend.
Main source of income are
> studio time
> mix & mastering
> video & album graphic design
I wanna expand in to the merch meme but I wanna make sure I get the most bang for my buck for a screen printer.
Any anons with experince?
>>>\mu\ ?
No experience with this, but how much does the printer cost and what is your pricing structure going to look like?
>>1375281

Is bookkeeping still a viable career in the short term? I'm starting a bachelors in accounting and wondering if I would be able to start a small bookkeeping business to pay for it rather than continuing to deliver pizzas. I hate my current job and the fact that I'm not developing any relevant skills through it.
What's the best way to determine the demand for bookkeeping services in my area?
Read Amazon's founder biography
>>1375400
How will that answer my question?
I don't think it is because the small companies that need the service don't want to pay for it or they hire someone for $12 an hour.
Is anything in the health field that you can achieve with a 2 year degree going to be obsolete soon with the way Medicare is going? For example,
>PTA's
Medicare doesnt want to pay them when they can just have a regular PT do it.
>OTA's
Pretty much the same thing
I dont even know whatelse. But what is recession-proof in the health field? Personal trainer? I just want to be able to do something that has a positive impact on somebody's life that I can pass in school without having to take bullshit hippie courses like general education.
>>1375198
Radiology tech. The pay isn't bad for the work from what I've seen, but the whole job market in general is about to be overflooded with kids who heard about all them boomers and their health.
>>1375198
About to hire someone for accessioning, definitely want someone with an associates, can't fuck that shit up.
>>1375513
what is accessioning?
>n b5 google
what is so special about it, I mean, that you want to hire someone for it?
So, dumb question: I don't really know anything about banks accounts but I want to open a separate one from my main one to receive money. I'm planning to sell things online and this account will only be used to store money that's incoming; expenses are minimal and so won't be taken from that account. What's the best way for me to do this? What do I need to look for in an account? Are there specific names for these accounts or should I just be looking for the one with the lowest monthly fees?
>>1375157
Depends. Is the account for a business (incl self employed) or personal? Sounds like personal in your case. And what bank are you with?
>>1375205
Technically business, self-employed, but from the IRS guide looks like I can consider it a hobby. Wells Fargo is the bank.
Dropshipping yes or no?
>>1375065
ask again in the year 2005 when it was still feasible
Bought a samsung gear from a person on ebay and it came in two days in an amazon prime box
So yeah, must be feasible people are still doing it
Yes but not meme shit like selling shit you find on Alibaba.
Your goal should be to find some highly skilled people and create a distribution channel for their products.
Basically do sales for people too autistic to market their successful product and reap the rewards by buying wholesale from them and selling at a premium.
Browse websites & physical locations searching for a product. Spampost it on all the relevant websites to that product, find a audience and target them through Facebook marketing.
This is 10x easier than creating your own product and you'll be dropshipping for a good profit if done right.
For example, instances of organization like this occcur often in the real world.
A designer has subcontractors and is basically a glorified salesman that packages a group of subcontractors and gets paid for it.
Inventing shit is autistic. The only way to make real money in this world organizing labor.
some good read bloomberg/2016-06-24/brexit-is-gold-s-last-desperate-hope
so who is fucked, DB, monte dei paschi, JPY..
what about Krugerrands and gold, miners like BAR etc.. have you guys peppered angus for gold>btc?
Yup got three ounces last time it went under €1k. So I'm up 700 since january but gonna hang on until there's something I want to buy.
Not in it long term I don't think, it was just cos I was working in a gold mine and everyone said it was a good idea. Though I Was poor then and I'm poor now
Gold is a good place to park your money but shit as an investment. I'd only buy gold if I had alot of liquid investments, just for insurance.
If you park all your money in gold, thats dead-money.

>what is outperform?
>Successful business, garbage secretary
>I'll be here for a few years, tops!"
>One decade later
>Makes double what other secretaries make because of "seniority"
>Ignores phone calls
>Doesn't do her job and pushes all of the work to other secretary
>Literally fakes paperwork do get out of doing it
>Deal with garbage for years because she'll create trouble
>Economy happens
>Business losing money
>Making cuts all over
>Can't cut her because frivolous lawsuits
>Need to fire because money and justified
Anyone here know how to cover your ass legally when you fire a disgruntled employee?
>>1375035
You forgot to mention where you live/this happens. However, if you have proof for everything you stated above, she's already fired, you just need to tell her.
Oh wait, did you just got annoyed for years but never took any action? then you're screwed...
>>1375035
Firing isn't enough
She has to go
As far as HR law goes....
Document poor performance, have meetings with her about it. Then have her sign a piece of paper acknowledging a detriment in performance.
Just keep doing this for her failings. After a handful, you can easily fire her.
Also you can keep cutting her hours or treat her like shit until she quits.
I hate employees like you described so fuck her.
So let's presume that an actual recession similar to 2008, or even greater is coming in the near future.
What is the best way to prepare?
Obviously a small stockpile of food you would eat anyways (rice, beans, oats) and owning a gun are nice.
Are there any bond or stock funds that will grow during a recession? Is it best to keep it in cash?
Some will advocate buying Gold/Silver, but keeping those physically is a huge liability, and if it's tied to an ETF the price could be manipulated (or the asset seized if the shit hit the fan)
Strong cryptos like BTC are an option, though, without mainstream adoption of them as a currency, they'll only be so useful.
Bogleheads will claim to just keep shoveling money into index funds and wait it out. Is that really a good idea?
Discuss!
>>1375026
>small stockpile of food
You're not gonna last anon.
Also a safehouse in a remote location is where to keep the stockpile.
>>1375026
Keep your stocks and buy more, you'll be buying at a discount. Bogleheads is pretty much right.
