Made some decent money on this, but it's just starting.
Today there been a lot of hype from it and it will only grow.
help an anon out to get in

I can't take it anymore, I really don't like my job. It's been over a month and I've been in this state of mind since maybe the 2nd or 3rd day on the job. I just don't like sales. I thought I'd stick around to see if it's just the work or me, but now that some time has passed I just don't want to do this anymore. I'm honestly not even sure why these guys hired me, they honestly don't need me for much (small manufacturing biz) I think they just hired me out of pity because they chose someone over me in the position I originally applied for (admin assistant).
Well, how do I go about leaving this job in the least awkward way possible? I can't see myself staying there any later than Friday.
You should apply for other jobs (or gov benefits depending on where you live and your circumstance) before leaving, and then use a letter of resignation, give them a week or two's notice, and go from there.
>>1377747
I have been applying. I actually have an interview next Friday.
And forgot to mention, I have a part-time seasonal job that helps me get by too so income isn't that much of a problem.
>>1377742
Continue running cover 2 fifteen years after it quit being relevant.
Thatll keep you in a job
>must be able to work flexible days and hours
>must be able to stand up at all times and provide excellent customer service
>must have reliable transportation vehicle
>$9.00/hr
>20 hours a week
Tell me this isn't modern day slavery.
>>1377717
This isn't modern day slavery.
>>1377717
especially when a job pays 11.25/hr and requires 2 years of experience. might as well kill myself at that point.
>>1377717
It makes going to college a hell of a lot easier. People literally throw monies at you.
Im a Web developer who graduated a couple of years ago, found out today that im on the same salary as other grads who push spreadsheets. Whilst comparatively im doing lots of heavy lifting with php/javascript and it feels unjust.
Ive been in this role for a year now, and have asked for a promotion to reflect my responsibilities but no joy. Plus the routine has gotten stale, so its time to leave.
I want to go freelance, I have friends to see in different countries and hobbies that encourage me to travel so being remote is ideal.
Can I justify this in my mid twenties with a few years experience? Here is my current status:
>>No wife or kids
>>No cars or other financial commitments
>>280k in investments (thanks pop-pop)
>>7k roughly in my current account
I want to cash in enough shares to give myself 6 months of runway, and then re-evaluate. If I have earned enough to continue, keep going. Not looking for maximum profitability, but rather a lifestyle business so I can avoid sitting at a desk for 40 hours for minimal return.
Am I batshit insane? Or is avoiding a shitty office job worth the risk?
>>1377692
Go to live in a cheap country like Thailand or Indonesia and try to freelance from there. You will be able to save a ton of money in a couple years, after you have enough money saved up you could easily buy a house in a better country. Rinse and repeat.
>>1377692
I've worked freelance, unless you can secure a client you can constantly work for it's very feast or famine, you may end up missing the consistent 40 hour work week.
I now work the standard 40 hours per week and am much happier.
>>1377692
"I want a raise"
"No."
"Hmmm, this OTHER company is hiring people for more."
"SEEYA SUCKER."
Just got fired from my job as a market analyst. Evidently I made one too many bad calls and it led to a whale client firing the firm I was working for.
/biz/anons who've been in similar situations, will I still have a career after this? Or is it time to invest in an exit bag?
It's not a huge deal. Look for a new job in the same or similar field. You can either lie at the interview or be honest and tell them how you learned from your mistake. It shows you learned from your mistake and it's highly unlikely you'll make the same mistake twice.
Story time: I work for a prop trading firm. Lost 10k because of a stupid error. My manager got really angry at me. Sure as hell not making that mistake again.
>>1377668
How bad did you fuck up? What is official reason you're getting fired for ?
Do market analysts ever get it right?
So someone posted this in a /lit/ thread and some biz-anon called it out as being primarily shite. Can you guys recommend some books on Finance/Business/Cashdollars.
>>1377603
not OP but can someone recommend a good book on Money Supply and macroeconomics
>>1377603
Yeah, I'm also interested in this. Any experienced readers? I'm currently reading the Millionaire Fastlane and it's pretty good.
So checking the archive, it looks like general consensus is that Benjamin Graham's two books (first two on OP's chart) are heavily recommended as well as the rest included in this (besides Babylon, which is too basic to be helpful).
A better resource to start from for vocabulary and the basics is investopedia.com
As well as Peter Lynch's stuff (one up/beating the street) Bogleheads, and Millionaire Next Door.
But then there's this interview: http://www.bylo.org/bgraham76.html
In which Graham says that his books are outdated.

What are some /biz/-approved home-based or internet business ideas?
I want to live out in the countryside or a small town, but jobs are only in the cities here.
what are your skills if any
where do you work right now
>>1377534
>what are your skills if any
I'm bilingual. That's about it.
>where do you work right now
Garden center.
>>1377532
If the area is heavily wooded and in a cold climate you can go around asking local farmers if they would let you remove their fallen timber to sell, most would say yes as it gives them more arable land.
Buy a Chainsaw & Splitter, you can claim these as a tax deduction with depreciation if you work as a business. Sell firewood.
This model suits me at the moment (right vehicles available, freezing climate, tonnes of wooded farmland and friendly farmers)
OR,
If you were good with gemstones/fossicking you could learn to facet stones and maybe make silver jewellery, getting good first is the key. You could fossick yourself or travel and buy assuming you knew the values and didn't get screwed in the process. Sell the stones etc online. The key here is a bunch of skill that'll take at least a year to get up to scratch on.
OR
Are there any interesting plants that you could grow, assuming you could get the acreage, eg Lemon Balm? You might be able to market your own line of tea or balms in the local shops.
Beekeeping?
These are all things I'm looking at right now myself.
What trading strategies do you employ to what end?
Do you pump and dump penny stocks to make a quick buck you can put somewhere safer? Do you focus on slow and steady gains for security?
I'm trying to form my own trading goals and styles and would like some examples.
>>1377458
I mainly trade passively, my portfolio is about 70% index fund, 20% bonds, 10% blue chip stocks that I plan on holding long term.
Its not going to get me rich quick, but long term I feel it will give me the best return.
>>1377462
How often do you sell your positions and buy others?
PLease respond
I understand that this is basically me asking for your secrets. But pls, I'm a good boy and I want to learn
has anyone here read all the /biz/ books from that starter rar?
how was it?
It was a fucking virus
>>1377383
It seems like a .zip with a bunch of pdfs.
>>1377383
Its a bunch of random business, economics and self help books. If you're talking about the link from the chinese
How do you guys deal with financial retarded loved ones?
I made the retarded decision to bail one out without realizing I'm forever their crutch.
>mom has borrowed from her 401k at 5 times in the last 2 years
>last time was because she wanted a roku for her fucking smart tv that I told her she doesn't need
>i told you so doesn't fix retarded
Your dad should slap some sense into her
Let them fail. Being broke doesn't mean you're going to die or go to prison. Declare bankruptcy and move into a trailer park. You're "loved one" should have the self-respect to not ask people for "loved ones" money.
>>1377587
I work in a nursing home and I see everyday how these people live compared to the sister home next door for the wealthy. No one on the poor side has more than $300 to their name and are all on welfare. The most miserable are the smokers who can't afford cigarettes so they dumpster dive when we empty our employee designated spot's ashtray.
Would you want a loved one to suffer that?
I have a theory that the women on the poor side were too ugly to marry a rich husband or were at one time pretty, and held out too long.
Can we have a proper trading thread edition
This thread is meant for topics regarding trading/investing in stocks, futures, index, options, forex, and anything else I might have forgotten to mention.
Welcome: traders
Not welcome: anyone who doesn't want to improve their trading or discuss trading
I don't come on /biz/ too often but there never seems to be a trading general here.
So what are you guys up to? You guys trading anything interesting? NZDUSD looks like it might reverse for the next week, might be shorting that soon.
>>1377291
MGT is looking pretty good right now. Looks like takeoff is imminent.
>>1377301
Do you recommend any stock brokers?
I trade forex and I've been reading on stocks, might open up an account to invest in stocks.
>>1377309
Depends on where you live, I live in Europe so I'm using degiro. Mainly because it allows you to buy US stocks so I can buy the meme stocks. If you live in the USA you should obviously go with Robinhood.
Bitcoins are going back up again, did you remember to buy the dip?
>>1377287
Bitcoins are going back down again, did you remember to sell the peak?
"A so-called pennant formation suggests that a long-term trend in the price of a given asset is about to resume after a brief period of consolidation, according to Jonathan Krinsky, chief market technician at MKM Partners."
In this case, the read would be that bitcoin prices will soon take out their 2016 high—around $764 a coin, according to CoinDesk—reached on June 19.
>>1377304
Coindesk always predicts bullish prices. They are probably the most biased news publication ever to exist.
>Keep multiple respected, popular financial news outlets open and on autorefresh all day
>When they release a hype promotion of how well a certain company is doing, buy stocks for that company as quickly as you can
>Wait for other people to hype buy, sell when it peaks
Anything bad with this strat?
>>1377282
that's basically what everyone does
It doesn't help that you think you gotta go fast
>>1377290
Why doesn't it help? If you buy before everyone else you'll get it for lower right
>>1377297
>If you buy before everyone else
Good luck with that. You clearly have never traded before.
We know that the system is stacked against the commoners and is built to maximize the profits of the rich. So let's discuss ways we can game the system legally (and not so legally). I'll start:
- buy new books, photocopy them, and return them for a full refund
- if you need to use something that doesn't have consumables (ie power drill, clothes), buy them in a big retail store and return them before the return date
- max out your subsidized student loans and put them in something like Vanguard. take the profits and pay back the loan 6 months after you graduate
- embellish your resume. It is a marketing document. You can lie within reason
- appearances matter ALWAYS. Your social interactions will go a lot more smoother if you dress and speak well. This includes job interviews and so forth
- references can be faked with family and friends
But it's not though. It's not stacked against you, stop that poorfag mentality.
>Photocopy books
genius!!! Except that pirating exists
>Return powertools
wow how smart, you're the first to come up with this.
>Loans into index funds
kek. What if it's not a favorable time to sell when you need to pay them back? What if it's the middle of a correction?
>Embellish your resume
genius DETECTED. No one does this
>Appearances matter
WHOA. HOLD ON ONE MINUTE. THIS IS GOING TOO FAR.
DRESSING NICELY IS GAMING THE SYSTEM *TOO HARD*. DONT YOU HAVE A CONSCIENCE YOUNG MAN???!!!-****&&*##&*#$*--###$%:-%##$&--+4@#????????
Wow you're a diabolical genius OP. Fucking genius. Hold on and hide so the rich don't assassinate you.
>>1377293
Thanks for your contribution, appreciated
>>1377293
I wanna post OP but goddamn this guy is such a faggot holy shit
What are the most important skills to have to be employable?
Are there any non-STEM skills that are applicable?
College anon here. I suck at math but I want to make something of myself.
