My cousin has a business, it has a good target audience, they receive enough to break even despite the four shareholders, including my cousin, putting virtually nothing into the business for over a month. To me, it's a gold mine that they're letting collapse. I have realistic solutions that could fix a lot of their problems. The main issue is that people avoid it because it looks "fake". I can see why, I attempted to find the website. Nothing, unless I type the url.com into google. I'm getting commission for every sale, and I'd like to advertise to create a perception lapse. However, I don't know where to begin with advertising. My first order of business:
>Make the website easy to find, unique name, so it needs to be the first thing to pop up on google, even with multiple ways of spelling it
>Update the website to fix inconsistencies
>Simplify the layout and item descriptions
>Add a review system
The beast is the advertisement bit. I'm more concerned with putting the name out to cause a "I see that a lot, they must have a lot of money to advertise so much, they must have a lot of sales and be legitimate" type situation. Programming and graphic design won't be my issue; I need to learn how to avoid wasting my time and money in advertising. Books, advice, past experience, all are invited.

What industry are they in, service or product are they selling? That affects which channels you use to get the word out and your approach

A couple of things which are universal, that even if you know are just worth drilling home:
>Consistency. Font on your online presence. Colour Scheme. Once you decide it, stick to it religiously
>Same goes for the language. Use the same adjectives and key words.
>Tailor your traffic. Don't try and get the maximum number of hits, or clickthroughs. Make sure the RIGHT people are clicking through. A higher ratio to purchase is way better than huge volumes and no purchases.

Also look up a couple of the affiliate marketing threads on this board. You can use the same principles, except instead of driving traffic to a third party, you're driving it to your own business.

Female clothing.
>>
>>1432819
All right helps. So, have you considered Pinterest and Instagram?
Some well light photos, some nice styling, link in the description, hashtag with brand-name can really help create desire for the product. That's also where most women are at.

Clothing is something very visual, so the best way to sell is visual.
I highly suggest investing in a cheap photo shoot. You may not even need a model, just borrow a friend's dressmaking mannequin for an afternoon and shoot. Buy some craft paper that matches the colour to make the photos 'funky' and 'fun'. Click click click.

Really?

Make sure you ALWAYS ask the interviewer some questions. If you don't, you'll automatically be disqualified—even if you aced the other questions.
Be prepared prior to the interview with AT LEAST 3 questions to ask.

i had /biz/, i dont need /adv/. too many kids in adv. please respond.

>be 28
>be obese kv
>want to turn life around
>have incredibly boring, stable job pays 30000
>cant even improve life at work because all ppl i work with are middle aged women with kids and im the youngest
>want to improve life, lose weight get into hobbies
>stupid boring job leaves me super drained and i have no motivation to do ANYTHING, believe me I've tried
>i have 20k in the bank and can probably last 6 months on this easily in order to pay bills

what do i do? i just dont have the motivation, the drive when i get home from work. i speak with toxic people. fat white women. already old people. i cant make friends at work. i have no friends and speak to no one my age.

but the stability is amazing. i could literally be there my whole life. i make about 30k and do almost nothing but browse 4chan all day.

thing is, its a random job i found from craigslist and there probably wont be anything else like this, as im a lib arts major and have no real skills. but i want to start my life over, and i cant start working somewhere else as a fat fuck with no confidence, i need to at least be presentable. but i wont get that way at the rate i'm going.

thoughts?

>i make about 30k and do almost nothing but browse 4chan all day.

If that's really true, then there shouldn't be too much of a problem with you studying during the day to acquire a skill set that can get you into a different career.

Does your job offer any sort of tuition reimbursement? Use that to take classes at the local college. You might even be able to use that to miss out a day or two every now and then for class (exams or whatever.)

Barring that, take evening courses and study or do homework during the day. If you're really doing nothing at work, you ought to be able to do very nearly a full course load every semester.

If you're working at a place where there is flexible time, you can arrive much earlier or much later such that there will be two or so hours every day where you don't have to interact with coworkers.

Just out of curiosity: Do you work in a government job?

I was in the same boat not too long ago. No degree, same job from 19-25, making 50k a year but if I did it until I retired I could make 100k max if I was really lucky. The job sucked and I felt drained every night after it. Finally decided to put myself in a position to be employed in a field with more upside. Studied for 4 months and got my CCNA with no background in IT and no degree or anything. Got a job as a network engineer making less, but at least it's work experience on the resume and I genuinely enjoy what I do today more than what I used to do. I also go to the gym 4-5 times a week now and I'm loving it. I'm a skelton, but getting bigger and gaining confidence.

gl hf bro you'll make it if you work at it.

I want to accumulate a lot of "safe haven" assets by november of this year (prior to US presidential elections and the election of President Trump specifically). I am buying weekly on auto but I also want to buy a large chunk at once as I don't currently have enough to profit off the coming economic apocalypse.
I'm not really happy with bitcoins' current price (too high compared to historical avg). I would much rather it be <=400 before I buy a lot. I'm not happy with gold either, though (look at the 35 year chart! wtf?!). I am fine with Ethereum's current price so I can pick up a bunch, but that's too young of an asset for me to feel secure with a _lot_ desu.
I think eventually the stock market will crash and investors will flood into gold/btc/etc. I am aware that I am talking out of my ass but I think worst expected outcome this is an alpha-less gamble where my fees pay for my entertainment.

for the record im trying to buy like ~40,000 USD.

advice? what are u guiz doing

if the market blows up the price of gold will go down too

best just to have cash available ready to buy stuff
>>
>>1432719
thats actually pretty reasonable growth for companies. considering population growth and technology.
plus interest rates are at an all time low... so ,those actually might be recession numbers.
>>
Hey you might need to buy sooner than November. Also buy silver, it will go parabolic.

reposted from a dead thread

I'm interested in starting a biz so I have something to do in my down time. I mean I have a lot of it. Right now I'm a 3rd year cs/security student and live out of a duffle bag. I don't really mind it desu. Not very interested in a 9-5 job because I'm mentally unstable but my tuition is covered for school so no debt or financial problems to deal with. Can anyone advise me on where to start? I have computer and people skills and would like to start on small projects and grow.

What is your project all about or you don't know yet?
>>
>>1432687
>mentally unstable
probably shouldn't start a biznuss then.

but if you decide to, there's so many good options out there. if you want it to be in IT, you could simply start solving IT problems for people for cheap with the angle being "You're getting a huge discount because I'm a student." then once you have a few clients, just use their references to get more and more and charge more. eventually bring someone else on board who can do things you can't. so on and so forth. Basic consulting firm.

Yeah I thought about that, I was hoping it would grant me more leeway.

I wanted to get some certs and do some basic consulting but didn't know how feasible it was. Because I specialize in security will people be comfortable with me being a student? I have 2 years experience working in a co-op and as an intern so I'm not totally without industry experience.

I am a screenwriter for an A movie. I have the power to insert into the script a very short dialogue about any alt coin, mention it by name and have like a one sentence explanation of what crypto currency is and thats its a great investment or something. How much money can I make of this pump? How should I go about it? I could even make my own meme coin perhaps or is it better to just shill something existing, buy before and sell after the price goes up? The film will not hit the screens untill earliest 2 years from now.

>>
>>1432676
>how much can I make off this pump
Up to, but not including, infinite percent.
>how should I go about it
As ham-fistedly as you can, plebs who watch "movies" are too dumb to collect information from contextual clues, simpler is better.
>I could make my own memecoin
This screams narcicism even if it were foolproof, and it's not, as you are a screenwriter, not a person at all fluent with such computer-based designs.
>Shill existing coin
>Earliest is 2 years from now
So everything besides BTC and no-names will be dead by then if you script it now. I would recommend you keep that scene unrecorded and the name open to change until the very end, pick any altcoin them that doesn't start with a B, an X, or a vowel, and remember, max gain is near infinity, max loss is only 100%.

Pro Tip: Find out if that's insider trading by any stretch of logic, avoid trouble before you get in.
>>
>>1432676
>How much money can I make of this pump?
If you mention a coin by name: Enough to make it worth your while. But don't expect 300% profit or anything (unless it's a really small volume coin, but small volumes won't be around in 2 years). As much as we like to think film and art and literature can change the world, one paragraph of dialogue is unlikely to cause a bull market

Shilling something that exists will give your film realism. Just like how Kubrick filled 2001: A Space Odyssey with Howard Johnsons, Pan Am, IBM and Hilton Hotel branding.

Bitcoin is the obvious one. But go on CoinMarketCap or a website like that, sus out which coins also have longevity.

>>1432715
> I would recommend you keep that scene unrecorded and the name open to change until the very end,
He's the screenwriter, he doesn't have the power to do that. There's no guarantee that after editing a snippet of dialogue like that would even make it into the film in-tact.

>Find out if that's insider trading by any stretch of logic, avoid trouble before you get in.
Not a lawyer but I'm confident it wouldn't be insider trading. Would the wines mentioned in Sideways be considered insider trading?

I need some advice /biz/

Just started a new job and it has been rough. My bosses are sharp and pretty demanding. The problem is I keep fucking up on easy stuff and I can't seem to get a footing. Part of it is due to long hours and constant distractions from meetings, questions, emails, etc. It doesn't help that there is a disconnect between upper management and middle management. I want to succeed but I'm having a hard time keeping up. Am I not cut out for the job? Or is this part of the process?

This isn't my first job but it has been the biggest grind.

I graduated last year with a degree I really hated. I've spent the past 14.5 months mostly wasting massive amounts of time on the internet, living with my parents, working menial part time jobs (less than 20 hours a week), and procrastinating instead of learning programming like I told myself I would. I don't even read books anymore. Also I have an existential crisis that I realise will never go away.

Has anyone been in a situation like this, constantly telling yourself that you'll work hard tomorrow? I feel like I have potential. I feel guilty when not working and I fear working only a medium amount and being guilty about not working more. When I get a full time job I know I will have no time to do anything substantial.

I was there m8. I dropped out of university twice. Took me 7 years to graduate all up. Worked in a fucking grocery store mainly doing night shift and thought that'd do for my life. Battled depression, restlessness, low confidence, uncertainty and all that shit.

But it's ok anon, I made it. Eventually.

Never mention degenerate hobbies like video games. Format looks pretty good though, but try to find a more professional and less bubbly bullet point option.
>>
>>1432425
Format's okay, just cut the text down to about a third of what it is (at least lose Activities). Most employers only glance at your resume/CV for no longer than a few seconds when shortlisting.

Reduce bullet point size, also get rid of hobbies altogether to be honest.
>>
>>1432464
thanks for the advice! it just feels weird trying to streamline everything even more than it is already.

Is the activities section really no good? when I did resume stuff in high school teachers said it was good to include clubs

How can i profit from the legalization of Marijuana in canada? It has a huge potential imo.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.

Sell it.
>>
>>1432414
Research which growers are getting government approval and invest now while you still can. Personally I'll be looking out for any equivalent to a breathalyzer test for marijuana consumption because preventing driving while high is going to be a big deal for law enforcement. If a promising technology is created then I'm investing before every cop in the country has one in their cars.

theres a number of Canadian Medicinal weed growers in canada

AHP
OGI
CGC
MTR

of these i have holdings in the first three as i think they will be allowed to sell straight weed legally when it finally gets legalized

dont think for a moment that it will be 100% unregulated, aka anybody can sell it. They are going to regulate the fuck out of it and who better to give a license to sell then the ones that sold medicinal weed before; not the scruffy guy down the street
