Hello I have my first job with a 401k retirement plan with the opportunity to start investing at the end of the month. However I read a lot of Zerohedge and listen to Peter Schiff, I have huge doom and gloom bias. Is it a good idea to start passively investing? with markets at record highs along with PE ratios being very high?

Do you get a match?
If so get your match. In the short term, your match will crush investment earnings.

Of its a shitty plan (high expense ratios) you might want to limit yourself to just the employer match max, but check it out yourself.

Alot of the "Yur 401k is ripping you off buy etfs instead" talk out there is cherry picked, so check the plan out for yourself.

Did you say you are working for a 401k company? They should have a good plan. Maybe I misunderstood.

Hey /biz/ im an 18 yr old college bound "white male" that needs to find a job. I have never been in wage slavery but want to make the most of the first official job.

What part-time entry level jobs can I seek out that don't require me to start at minimum and have good hourly wages and extras (i.e tips and commissions) or do I have to start out at minimum no matter where I go?

Also, for the future like next 1-2 years I plan on making some comfortable money even still in college, such as getting different licenses like insurance and maybe even real estate so even on my downtime and in between my job I can get multiple incomes coming in and have stuff to fall back on. Is that a realistic outlook?

Also, what would be the least useless degree to get? I understand most of college is a large scam and there are very few degrees that make it worthwhile. (My eyes are on Accounting and/or Management.)

I also have small side skills like SEO and very brief experience in crypto currencies and derivative exchange stuff. (My YouTube Channel has around 1,300,000 views) Can I put my traffic funneling skills to work as well?

There is just too much opportunity out there for me to be a poor fag and I'm just anxious on going out there on my own. I would like to get ahead in my college years and possibly reach 6 figures in my 20's but all of it seems so far out of reach, idk.

Anyway thanks /biz/, I understand this is 4chan not a hugbox self help board, im just wondering if any of you have any input on how I can make the most of my situation.

Yeah sure. Protip for college. Rankings & GPA are everything. Rankings translate to networking and prestige which makes you more hirable and GPA proves you aren't a lazy POS.

If you go to a school that's not top 20 in your major, don't go at all. You're better off getting a 4.0 in 1 year of community college and transferring in as a 2nd year.
>>
>>1435149
depends what major in US if you are Med or (most)Engineering you can still be hired pretty easily, my friends that do CS are getting hired 3rd year for soft dev and they go to meh schools

I'm most likely getting a degree in the financial sector. Even though I was shit at math in HS. I'm pretty sure math, calculus etc. isn't that bad as long as you put effort into studying.

I have a decent amount of money saved up in pounds however I'm living in a country now that uses Euro. With the pound dropping at a huge rate I'm considering purchasing something from the UK with the pounds and getting it shipped over to my country and re-selling it to make up the loss.

I was considering electronics but I'm thinking of maybe importing things that are produced in the UK. What do you guys think? Any ideas?

Fairly new attorney/real estate agent. I obviously know how to dress in court (suit), and when showing homes, a suit as well.

However, a conundrum that I am facing is that I don't know what to wear to a non-casual meeting (for example, when discussing payment plans, courtroom preps, etc.)

I basically have only two sets of clothes: Business suites and tshirts/jeans. I'm looking to find an in between wardrobe. Not too professional, not to casual.

Also I'm pretty young, so I need to increase my age with what I wear or I'll look like a high schooler.
>>
son, everyone is too busy to care what a realtor wears
>>
Probably wouldn't be wrong to do business casual. For men, it'd be something like khaki or dress pants, nice belt, dress shoes, dress shirt or something like an oxford shirt, and a(n optional) tie. Make sure you are either clean-shaven or have a trimmed non-patchy beard (preferably with a shaved neck if you're not overweight). Your hair should be combed or at least short and under control if you've got crazy hair (perhaps lightly gelled into place), and if you grow unibrow hairs they're plucked or shaved. Wear deodorant or cologne, don't use both unless your deodorant is scentless. Good luck.

I've realized that working from home/remotely is one of my ultimate career goals. Every time I look online to find more info the top results are some generic website giving "The 10 best (and real) work-at-home jobs" and then rattle off hardly livable careers like Translator and Teacher.

What are some companies and careers that make working from home a pleasure and enjoy the flexibility?

Are any of you currently holding a work from home occupation and making a decent living wage?

I am in Southern California for reference.

Working at home is a meme. The truest shit is owning your business and cutting your hours so you can be home.

I wouldn't want to work at home, I'd get too distracted.

The real dream is a business that I can manage for 5-10 hours a week and pay others to do the rest.

This can be sold for a lot of money because anyone could use your business model and your duties are easily replaceable by new management.

Most people start businesses and their business relies on them so much, it's an unsellable job even though they might make good money.

Online instructor at 3 universities. It's literally brainless work for a few hours per day at most.

"Learning designers" and "content specialists" compile EVERYTHING, the online instructor is literally a glorified forum administrator. Once a month I have to grade papers but since I'm the moderator, I spend the time leading up to then making sure students keep it simple, short and sweet.

On a daily basis I click the "view all unread replies", answer easy questions, deflect hard questions back at the students and move on to the next class. Some days I work less than 10 minutes because students are the ones busy working on papers... They don't have the time to engage in discussions.

One university pays $51 ph, one pays $44 ph, one pays $121 ph.

No timesheets, just set hours per week and marking is typically paid separately.

Hourly rate is misleading. For example I'm paid 6hrs per week for the $121 university, yet that'd take up 15 minutes each day for 4 days. Work 1hr, paid for 6. Same story for other two.

I'm riding this motherfucker until it crashes

I've been an online translator for a couple years and then transitioned to Copywriting.

Now I make ~$2.5k/month working for less than 10hrs/week.

Working from home is not really accurate. Working online is a more truthful description, because I can work wherever I want (plane, coffee shop, beach, library, etc.) and I travel with my laptop as a personal ATM that spits out money when I need it.

Another benefit of working online is that you constantly grow your portfolio and authority in the niche you're working in.
I've been doing Copywriting for almost 4 years now and my rates are only going up as I cut off the lower-paying clients and find new ones who are willing to pay more.

I now have a skill that will get me paid even if I'm dropped into an unfamiliar city with nothing but my laptop and an internet connection.

I believe that's what it's all about.

My advice for someone who is just beginning their journey and thinking of whether it's better to work for some company or to try and do something for themselves is this:

read
>"The Richest Man in Babylon" by George Samuel Clason;
>"The Millionaire Fastlane" by M. J. DeMarco

There are audiobooks of both of these so you can listen while driving, cooking, etc.

While my journey is far from over, I'm currently working on my own business and product, because after working online I experienced a lot and I would have killed for knowledge like that when I started.

I'll be lurking around so if anyone has any questions - go ahead.

Hi all,

(Sorry for the long post)

I've been working on marketing campaigns for a while, but it wasn't much of a deal, to be honest. Most of the time, I simply conduct a plan based on my basic intentions - What is my goal / Who is my ideal customer / How can I reach the target audience / Where can I find them etc. - afterwards I do some research, create a timeline or an action plan and it's basically it.

It's really blatant and basic, but executing (for example Facebook) campaigns like this seems reasonable and rewarding so far. But not as much as it could be.

Whenever I've created an ad on Facebook, it was basically shooting in the dark, even when it reached or exceeded our expectations. I know that I'm missing out on so much possible data and details why a post was successful, and why it isn't. Also, it's obvious, that only one promoted post won't make a difference since using benchmarking techniques and another kind of systems requires more content - more ways - a bit more money and time too.

So the question is - Can you give me some advice on how can I be more productive, get more details and useful information out of an advertisement?
I've tried to look for it myself on different sites and blogs, but all these platforms seem to miss out on the importance of comparing your (and others) posts and ads.
Is there any app, which analyses ads, maybe even differentiates your posts by placement, text, picture, anything and gives advice for future campaigns?

Go make that app nigga. Then market that app to people like yourself
>>
OP can you give me any advice on how to market my affiliate site? I've never really gotten into internet marketing. My plan was to make a video explaining the site post it on youtube and hope it gets views. It's definitely what people are searching for. I am totally lost when it comes to facebook though. Do you think this youtube video idea will be enough?
>>
>>1434182

Why should you be sad?

Consider most people are 40+ and fucking retarded, with no savings, living paycheck to paycheck no matter how much $ they make a year.
