What was the turning point for you when you decided to buckle down and really go after what you wanted in terms of dream career, starting a business, etc?
For me it was when I worked several shitty jobs in highschool because of my parents and realized that if you don't take your life seriously, you can end up working shit jobs like this FOR EVER. Even into your 30's and 40's.
Made me really reconsider what I wanted from life
>>1434848
played capitalism 2
It was a culmination of chronic failure in almost all facets of my life. Stuck in a dead-end coding contract maintaining a legacy PHP codebase, >tfw no gf (ever) and watching Chad the legal counsel bang Stacy & Courtney from sales within a week, having literally no friends and being reminded about it literally every moment by my neighbour's party noises, and losing the motivation to even cook a decent meal for myself. I hit rock bottom, something inside me snapped, and I realized that my only two options were sudoku or going balls-to-the-wall coked-out entrepreneur mode.
Fuck that bitch is gorgeous
How the FUCK does she get away with it, /biz/?
I recently bought some cheap bracelets off of Alibaba in hopes to start reselling them. I'm on Shopify but I want to expand to Etsy and pimp my products out with Etsy Ads (I've heard people get a very high ROI doing this). Trying to do things the legit way, I haven't set up an Etsy shop yet because I've looked into it and Etsy has a very strong vetting process for the legitimacy of your products being personally handmade by yourself. Once someone reports your shop for being cheap imported Chinese crap, they will ban and suspend your shop until you send them detailed pictures of your manufacturing process.
I was browsing Etsy just now and came across this bracelet store knowing full well the products were from Alibaba because I've bought from a Supplier who carries them.
She uses the exact same stock photos for her product images and everything.
How the fuck does she get away with it, /biz/? She even faked the entire manufacturing process (I scrolled down to the section about her business where she showcases pictures of her "process").
So, should I say fuck it and open up my own Etsy shop of cheap imported bracelets then? How can I fake my manufacturing process like this old bitch? Anyone have experience selling imported crap on Etsy and passing it off as handmade (by you)?
>her materials

Report her
Then learn how to make jewelry, Pablo. get back to fucking work. it isnt time for dinner break yet
>her "making" the bracelet
Okay guys. I'm tired of working in my dead end job, and something just dawned on me: Every time I've grown my income, it was by switching to a higher paying job.
I'm 22 and my first job was at a furniture store for about 10k a year. My next step up was about 15k as a stadium janitor, and I worked at walgreen's part time at the same time, so roughly 20k. Now I work at a car wash and make roughly 24k a year.
I always hear people saying that their 35-50k a year sucks, but I can still save on my 24k a year. I just want to grow my income and I know a lot of you do as well.
Post your career and salary, or hourly wage, and let's help each other get some more paper.
>>1434776
Yes, studies have shown one should switch jobs every 2 years or so in college educated fields to maximize lifetime earnings. I'm sure similar logic applies to retail/service jobs.
>>1434783
What do you do for a living and how much do you make?
>>1434789
I own a business that repairs industrial machines.
How the fuck did i let this happen, just tried to register for college next semester. All classes are full or I don't meet requirements. Fuck my life, I have to ask if i can open up some room to retake classes and/or retake at community college cause my grades were not good enough last semester. Fuck my life man, all the slacking off has finally caught up to me and im fucked now. How do I fix myself biz? how do i fucking wake up? I can go to the gym 5 days a week, I can do shit but school has always been a struggle for me since 7th grade I just slack off and dont do the work to understand the subject. pls help me what do I do? how can i fix this before I am homeless?
>>1434758
Umm, yeah...
Who cares, college is a meme anyway.
Just wage slave for a while and then try to get some licences like insurance or real estate and just network with people.
You don't need college to be successful give me a break.
But for now if ur freaking out about your future just calm down and start getting income in from a steady job and go from there.
>>1434765
What job? I want to work in tech so I did a CS major. its is not easy, also started second guessing myself cause I didn't want to be a code monkey for 5 years after grad. Also my parents are paying for this shite so idk how to tell them I dont want to go to college, theyll be pretty pissed. My dad owns some ATM business and some real estate already so I could try doing that but he wont like the idea of me being "uneducated" my parents are pretty conservative .
Are the 1% elites that rule America going to exterminate the working class once the remaining brain-dead service industry jobs are completely taken over by AI and automation?
Friendly reminder that without manual labor the "1%" would be dead in a week.
They need the working class.
Yeah I think so, there'll be some sort of basic income scheme that probably benefits them anyways (free food, smartphones, housing, and healthcare) all businesses of the 1% elite and this will all be financed with the remaining workers' tax money
>>1434955
what part of AI and automation do you not understand bozo
I've recently started a new job that's gonna be paying me way more than enough to maintain my standard of living and pay off my debt. I've never been in this situation before /biz/. What should I be doing with the extra income? I'm as ignorant as they come so far as money management is concerned because I've never really had any. Honest advice is welcome. Troll advice can't really be stopped so I guess that's welcome too.
Pay off all debts over 5% instantly. Don't be a retard and buy a new car. Invest 80% of extra income in stocks (dump money in VTI every paycheck), use 20% of extra income to improve quality of life by fitness, education, and healthy food.
>>1434767
I would argue that you should pay that money beforehand to atleast make sure you are healthy enough to proceed in life.
High interest debt
Low interest debt
Save up 6 months of living expenses
Start dumping into investments (ETFs, mutual funds, etc.)
Don't increase your consumption commensurate with your pay increase.
>school starts next month
How are my college cucks doing? I don't know how I'm going to juggle my two jobs while studying full-time. College isn't a meme, right?
>>1434706
>tfw still need 39 credit hours to graduate
1 class during winter break and 2 semesters on max courseload
At least I retook classes and will finish with a 3.4-3.5 GPA.
>>1434706
>Senior manager at major MSO
>14 years with company, 10 in line of business, 6 in position, 1 as "acting director"
>Cannot be promoted to director due to "muh degree"
I'm 12 credit hours away from my directorship and a bump from $120k a year plus bonuses to $250k plus bonuses. My SVP has held the post for me to punch that last bullet and I've already signed the paperwork for the bump, just requires that I finish my degree. Makes me kind of sad to think that I could have been there or more, if I'd done better in school the first time.
>>1435068
Guess what, you don't get a do-over so go get those fucking credit hours, take that nice pay bump, then take that bonus and buy yourself a nice watch or something nice because you deserve it for getting shit done and not letting life get the best of you. Bitch.
24 m here finally able to go to college. What degree should I pursue? I was really thinking a 2 year program like dental hygeine or radiation therapy. What does /biz/ suggest?
>>1434693
How did you get here?
>>1434693
If you're gonna do some cheap 2-year certificate then you might as well go all out for a solid 4-year degree either in STEM or finance, otherwise, why even go to college?
>>1434717
College experience ;)
Fell for the liberal arts meme
80k in debt and a Macbook full of musings and short stories
I probably would have fallen for the liberal arts meme if I my GPA wasn't 1.3 in high school. Even meme tier colleges didn't want my meme tier high school transcripts.

Hey biz, I recently had to rent a new place near my workplace and school because former housemates were getting to be annoying to live with (especially the lesbian/vegetarian/bernie fan who wouldn't clean up hear fucking mess after using the kitchen), so now I am alone and have a spare bedroom. None of my friends need a place to rent, and I am a little hesitatant to invite randos. Any ideas on how I can make an extra 200$ a month with this useless spare bedroom? Not interested in weed growing and prostitution.

>>1434662
I'm too much of a caveman to set up a bitcoinew mining operation, but I like the idea.
The home gym would be great, but I am only staying in the apartment for about 9-10 months.
What does /biz/ think of a career in Telecommunications? With emphasis on Radio, Tv and Web Broadcasting. I am a good speaker and people love to talk to me so I think it would be an avid career choice. What do you guys think?
>>1434626
bump
>>1434626
Any career that is heavily based on "people skills" is often very competive and not that employable/profitable. However if you put in a lot of work and have a lot of connections you should be fine.
>>1434793
The pay is shit apparently from what I am seeing too.
>tfw if you aren't working a career job in your 20's it's nearly impossible to achieve later on
>tfw 25 and working some shitty labour job and can't get an interview for anything else
>tfw everyone else my age are engineers, software programmers, in med school, ect...
Who else /missed the bus/ here? Is drug dealing the only remaining option?
>25
>>tfw everyone else my age are engineers, software programmers, in med school, ect...
Most of the people your age are in debt, on welfare, working at a grocery store, or addicted to drugs. This is 2016.

Great empirical data, Anon. Really convincing argument.
