it needs to get really fucking WW3 bad before they actually think about universal income, r-r-riight?

No. Canada has plans to experiment with it, and Finland and another European country (Netherlands?) have plans to implement it, if I recall correctly.

>before universal language

That's asking for trouble.

Switzerland has done a referendum on it quite recently. The proposition was rejected.

When you invest your money, you own a tiny portion of peoples work. You just need to own enough so people can work for you.

Chart is bullshit, a worker doesn't receive 100% of his value, as the chart shows the business owner profits by taking part of the workers value.

Nice bourgie propaganda though, shitstain.

"He used this phenomenon [the growth of private security] as an example of the general withdrawal of the affluent from existing communities where governments provide public services. Instead, the wealthy pay to provide their own premium services, through voluntary, exclusive associations."

Are rich people really doing this?

To hear /biz/ talk, the rich eat at McDonalds wearing torn jeans bought from a charity store.

Scottsdale Arizona has guard gated communities everywhere.
>>
>>1435134
They're everywhere in LA, too.
It gets proposed every year in my neighborhood, but (so far) always gets shot down.
You wind up having to pay for literally everything: Roads, trees, sidewalks, signs, security, sanitation, etc.
So it's expensive as fuck, and the city hates when people change their minds about it, so they make it really difficult.

Is organized crime /biz/ friendly? Do any of you make money through illegal means?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1435084
Oh God yes, Absolutely!

We sit around all day sipping wine and making deeeelicious tomato sauce. Then we jar it and sell it to Costco.

We sometimes don't pay the tax on the tomatoes we buy for the sauce though.

Sorry
>>
I think black market is shrinking frankly...
Weed/drugs are becoming cheaper and more legal.
The most amount of money I have ever seen people make is people working for the government getting kickbacks or pay to play jobs in the government (government workers make tons in bay area!).

A lot of organized crime nowadays is digital and involves various fraudulent schemes.

>End up spending more than you raise

Whats the point OP? You lose either way unless you magically have all this money to throw away.

Im not really talking about something massive. Maybe just renting out a venue and letting some SoundCloud artists play. Something where some unnamed artists can get known and I would make some sort of profit
>>
>>1435036

What typically happens around where i live is the owner tells artists to sell ticks. They charge them a flat rate fee for the venue and comission and the artists keeps the rest. The venue has a bar built in so the owners just make $$ off foods and drink

Hello /biz/, I've recently changed my university studies from nursing to finance. I'm not sure where in finance I want to work, but banking has been interesting as I've researched it. I'm mostly interested in banking because of the opportunities to work abroad, especially in South East Asia. Is it possible to get into banking if I'm not going to a top tier school? I'm in the Silicon Valley studying currently. Is it worth the effort to try and break into the sector or is my energy better devoted to something like corporate finance? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What uni do your currently go to? If it's not a target school then you won't be going to SE Asia. Not being a dick, just speaking from experience. Also, why do you want to work in emerging markets?
>>
>>1435040
Yeah no worries I don't take offense. Going to San Jose State University in the fall. Not very well known school, but my neighbor just graduated form there with a Finance degree and said that a lot of tech companies go there to recruit the finance students, so there's that at least.

I'm also happy to work in the U.S., but Asia just has an allure to it. I know New York is the Finance capital of the States, but I lived there for a few years and was looking into other areas to work. San Francisco is okay, but it's not exactly an international hub. Am I pretty much going to be limited to the area I'm studying and the connections I can make?

Become a corporate raider. Buy companies (and therefore their debt) then cut CAPEX via slashing wage expense (fire some nigs or cut pay). How does that work for you?
>>
>>1435059

Sounds good, but I'd rather start small with personal debt.

how much strats do you think i should learn before making profits in live casinos or low stake online?. Like pot off, implied odds, fold equity, expected value etc../

Also are any books worth it?
>>
>>1435098
All these books are great - http://www.twoplustwo.com/books/. Particularly Harrington on Holdem. Learn as much as you want, particularly the maths side of things helps. And I would advise specializing in a certain format.

Learning disability anon here who is going to try for the third time to complete general ed courses at a community college. Im fine on money but would feel better if I had a part time job where I could work 1 to 2 days MAX a week doing something for a few hours to make a few bucks. I got offered a job making 13 dollars an hour to sell people weight loss products and run the weight loss program. I got offered the job and I have to make a decision if I should take it or not. Problem is, I think it will be a huge commitment to do that and be a full time student. Plus I do struggle very hard with general ed courses. They need my full attention.

Should I pass the job offer and see if walmart will take me 1-2 days a week for like 9 bucks an hour or should I try to own the program and see where that takes me?

I am leaning towards passing it up since idk if I can handle both

I get that you have a thing, and I can't help you with that.

But I went to school full-time, did an internship 5 days a week and worked overnights and weekends at fucking burger King.

I was young and could, so I did.

My question is, if you have such a learning problem that you can't finish eng 102, what kind of job are you hoping to have?

Maybe you should just go with the 13/hr full time if it's something you enjoy and can do. It's a semi-liveable wage.

Well I have had a shoulder surgery that has almost ruined my life as I lost most of my motion and strength in one of my arms so I cannot complete tasks as I once could and dont have insurance to go back to the doctor to see what can be done. I have a chronic obsession disorder too that unfortunately is fixed on my shoulder problem and its hard to live daily life because all thats on my mind is that

And I just have a really hard time with general studies. I am probably just a bad student, but I really do want to succeed so I can go on to support myself and a family one day. Thats been my goal forever
