Would this be a good way to start my career?

The NZX is New Zealand's stock exchange. They have a 3 year graduate program where you work as a data analyst across a range of markets. The pay is pretty shitty (50-55K starting).

Thoughts? Would I be better off trying to get into a banks graduate program?

I don't know about that position, but that's pretty normal pay for a grad position, and it will go up significantly as you move through the grad program.
Standard grad position pay in Aus is 50-65k depending on industry/position
>>
>>1442741
i'm with anon, Aus grad jobs aren't really much higher than 60k, but they generally rise rapidly from there. 50-55k is pretty normal, and if its what you want to do then definitely try it out.

Hi fellow anons,

I'm in search for financial data to do some machine learning. Particularly stock market data on a hourly base.
You might think of yahoo or google but their data is not long term or just on a daily base.
Can someone help out? Don't want to spend thousands (not at this point).

Mh yeah, but I don't want to back test some algorithm. I want to download historical stock data (maybe including some other market data) on a hourly base.
But thank you for the effort anyways anon.

So, /biz/, I have low income with little to no liabilities, but also no assets.

I was thinking of slowly investing in vending machines. At the moment I can only afford something like this.

Has anyone on /biz/ owned vending machines of any kind? Any advice or tips about location and shit?

My girlfriend looked at me crazy as fuck when I told her I want to buy a candy vending machine to make money, but, I do. It's a small investment and over time it will eventually pay for itself and another machine.

I'm in a hole with little wiggle room, does this idea seem pertinent to you guys, or should I try and think of something else?

Will copypaste an useful post written by a good anon a few time ago

R J O'Brien... their main business is brokerage/clearing

if you're self funding though then just give them a call, you could also try marex spectron

if you need funding/want a grad scheme then there aren't so many opportunities now - screen based futures trading is much much harder, the easier ways to make money have been automated. You could try Hamilton Court - it is owned by David Kyte (founder of Kyte Group). There is also Met Traders and maybe Futex. Aside from that if you want to trade then try options marketmaking firms like Optiver, Liquid Capital, Mako, IMC...

there are other firms out there but anyone claiming to be a prop firm that wants you to hand over money for training is generally a scam... If you want to self fund and rent a desk then go speak to Marex, R J O'Brien, XConnect...
>>
>>1441889
Thanks but unfortunately, I am not from the US
>>
>>1441889
Quick update: i've heard Futex went belly up recently, so write that off

Now for what i know
I am self employed and trade spot fx and metals using self developed counter trend systems. But mine is the road least travelled since currencies tend to be extremely volatile due to the fact that it's mostly a non speculative market, which means most of the moves you see (especially on shorter time frames) are random.
If you want to play with the big boys, learn coding (R and Python), learn everything you can about Market Profiling and go with index futures. There are plenty of platforms out there, not sure how many will let you get the data and the feed for free. If you want to try options, there is everything you need to know on Dough.com and tastytrade.

In any case, i would recommend getting some experience beforehand. Firms nowadays are more risk averse than ever, they are hiring people with Ph.D in math and physics mostly, engineers are ok but there is just too much competition. They usually don't give a shit about training you unless you pay them (bad sign).
If you go there with experience and a profitable track record, you are almost guaranteed to get the job.

What do you think of getting rich by marrying a rich person, /biz/?

Is it ultimately a stump, because the person you're marrying will never give you their money and they will only let you ride their coattails like a secondary, a fifth wheel? Is your only chance to marry a single person without children and then have the fortune of him dying from cancer or slipping on ice and breaking his head?

You're not getting rich. You're just leeching off of a rich person. If you want to be rich, you need to make your own money.

Why not TOR or torrent?
I see that as undermining community effort.

1. TOR requires volunteers who support the network for free. Not a lot of people volunteer so TOR is laggy. Maidsafe gives people safecoins (which have monetary value) for support, which is way better incentive than the pat-on-the-back TOR model. The network can run faster that way.

2. TOR only offers anonymity. People have to set up a single webserver to store files and provide bandwidth. Thats inconvenient, expensive, and if someone wants to take down the website they only have to find 1 server. Maidsafe lets you set up a website supported by lots of individual computer resources so it is convenient, cheaper and hard to shut down.

3. torrents also use a pat-on-the-back model so there is no real incentive for seeding. Maidsafe provides monetary incentive (safecoins) for their bandwidth

4. In torrents,, users can cherrypick the torrents they seed. That makes some content inaccessible if no one seeds, and it means the users are legally liable if they choose to seed copyright content. Maidsafe does not tell users what files they are storing and supporting, so all content is equally available and makes users immune to legal action

5. Maidsafe is an actual company with mature, trustworthy people who can be held accountable. For companies, it would be the better candidate pick vs "a free online software project that anonymous people support sometimes when they want"

Its not undermining existing community effort. rebels who survive on virtue alone are free to support tech without monetary incentive. Maidsafe is building its own community of people who are incentivized by money.

Hey I'm 18 years old. All my freinds are going off to college right now. I decided not too. I had weighted 4.0 gpa in highschool but just didn't see the appeal to uni. I'm working at a computer shop part time making 12$ a hour. My grandma gave me $12000 to spend for graduation as I please. I haven't broke into it yet. I'm completely indecisive and feel sorta trapped. Not being able to decide what trade or even if I should pursue one to begin with.

Tldr what would you do with 12k at 18 and good general trades.

I want to clarify that I can't reveal any concrete information about the network or our operations, other than our explicit goal which is to aid North Korean defection by way of the 1400km long Chinese border.

Unknown to many, pockets of admittedly small and fragile insurgent groups operate along the border area, concentrated along the the Yalu river. They are typically made up of males, often in their mid 30s, from the surrounding villages with contacts or direct experience serving in units involved with border patrol.

Now, where do you come in? Communication is vital. A lot of defectors depend on the Chinese cellphone service that extends into NK. They rely on black market phones smuggled in from China. There has been a recent slump in supply, and we are currently in the process of finding new ways to bulk purchase active sim-cards in China, while remaining undetected. This is where we have hit a wall. If you have any information that you suspect could be of help, big or small, darknet or otherwise, I urge you to please consider leaving it below.

Thank you. I suspect this thread will be removed eventually, but I will remove it manually after a few hours.

This is cool and all but I'm curious as to how I can make money from this.

I don't really care if every single person in north korea were to die the next day, it would make no difference in my life

I'm going to tell the North Korean authorities immediately.

Maybe have a third party buyer purchase it for you and hand it off? Or create a throwaway corporation that uses its own accounts for the purchases?

Hey /biz/! I have a few k loose again, and I am looking for some new ETF for my portfolio. ATM I have mostly boring indexes like S&P 500 and DAX in my portfolio and I am looking for some sector ETFs.

ATM I have ITA (defence), XLU (utilities) and VNQ (REIT) in my radar.

Do you have any opinions or other suggestions according what should I buy next?

I am from Europe so currency is also a thing to be considered.

Hey guy I know a few of you are involved with real estate, so I thought I would ask here before asking around elsewhere.

What is the largest construction loan I could qualify for with $2m as a down payment/reserve/equity?

Also what size loan is reasonable? I wouldnt want something so large that I would be pulling my hair out to lease out the building.

I was thinking some type of financial/capital investment broker would be the provider of such a loan.

Does anyone have experience working as a real estate developer, or working with them?

Thanks in advance /biz/!

There are a lot of financing firms in my area that specialize in loaning for real estate projects. You should research those and your local banks. Call around and shop around. There's no one-size-fits-all answer to your question. You need to talk to the people who would be loaning you the money and let them give you a quote for your situation.
