Hey /biz/,
I want to get into stocks and trading however, I'm completely new.
Where should I start? Sites? Books? I've plenty of time even at my job which has a lot of down time so please, I don't mind big books.
Which online broker site do you suggest?
Thank you for your advice in advance.
I would start out by flipping coins and then as you get better, slowly ease yourself into dice. It'll take you a few years to make it to horse-racing level. Don't give up though!
Dont bother with books that shit doesnt help. Theres plenty of resources on youtube.
I would suggest trading in forex as you dont need a high account balance and the risk is minimal if you know how to read graphs, understand patterns and know how support/resistance works.
Ive been forex trading for a year now, I turned my 100euro into 2100euro. Its not a lot but I am still learning and im trying to keep the losses as low as possible.

I'm not here for quick shekels as much as I am here to learn along the way so yeah, I'll give it a shot.
What is a good gift for someone who attempted suicide and failed?
Should I even get them a gift or will I look like a dick?
A stronger rope
Why did this person attempt suicide?
>>1453931
I was thinking a gun and some bullets but this is also acceptable
Starting real life /biz/ness club in school.
What should I expect?
>tfw have to read all of this to avoid lawsuits
>>1453914
>>1453914
you should expect pretty much /biz/
no real knowledge, lots of misconceptions, a wad of corporate speak, pump & dump tier fraud, expensive tastes on a shoestring budget, trust fund babbies that talk about what their parents did, and that must be Nigel with the brie.
>>1453916
But I can't use filters irl
Any other way to get unwanted people not interested without making them feel uncomfortable?
I always see people joining clubs just because their friends did, I don't want that desu
Is 100K/year salary pretty much average these days?
(US metropolitan cities)
Discuss
>>1453897
in a major city, yes.
>>1453897
median wage in the US is $26k, I sincerely doubt the average in urban areas is 4x higher.
>>1453897
In SF, it's above average, but not abhorrently so. I'd say 78-82k is average for an actual carrer job
Starting to get into investing and I have a question.
Example:
I purchase 100 shares of ABC on 01/01/2016.
I purchase 100 more shares of ABC on 02/01/2016.
If I sell all my 200 shares of ABC on 01/02/2016, will the first block of 100 shares be taxed at the > 1 year rate, and the second block 0f 100 be taxed at the < 1 year rate?
Or are you taxed on all your holdings the same from the first date of your purchase order when it comes to short/long term capital gains tax? In this case, all 200 shares of ABC would be taxed at the > 1 year rate?
Much appreciated.
The first thing you said
>his country has a capital gains tax
Lmao
Illustrated with my HAL holdings
AMD still worth buying?
idk lol i just bought like $20 who cares
>>1453840
No, their price is higher than their revenue. Not worth buying at all, unless you believe they will improve margins and grow strongly the next few years (which PC peformance has slowed down drastically in imo).
Meanwhile you can pick up companies like Ford or GM for 6-7x EV/EBITDA, which is a great deal assuming we don't have a recession.
>>1453840
>buying high
>tfw I REALLY hate my retailcuck job
>tfw it's mind numbing
>tfw have to wear a uniform
>tfw seeing Staceys near me and feeling ashamed
>tfw normiescum coworkers
so get the fuck out dipshit
>>1453808
>>tfw seeing Staceys near me and feeling ashamed

>>1453803
I hope you made him wear a rubber, OP. Stay safe.
How do you react when your friends get successful? My friend recently became a multimillionaire success and it pissed me off because he didnt deserve it.
>>1453755
Don't get jealous. It's not like someone becoming a multimillionare prevents you from doing so as well.
The only thing that really irritates me is how quick trust fund kids are to blitz Facebook/Instagram with vacations you know they didn't pay for. It sometimes feels a hair tasteless.
Nobody deserves wealth faggot. If you make a million dollars then you're a millionaire. No morals about it.
>>1453761
This. Everyone I know that got rich, was due luck+normie, like shitty videos on youtube going viral.
Im a student working in the summer I work twice a week and got paid £200 this month first payment, they have charged me 20% tax
Do I have to pay tax?
And if not what can I do about this
>>1453707
its called emergency tax because they havent assigned you a tax code, call them up and get it sorted and you'll get the money back
How do I call work or the tax people
>>1453707
THICK
This is why people will never be anything more than peasants. They think this kind of behaviour is cute and they excuse it with things like "money doesn't matter that much"
The person who posted this asked me why she was so broke while looking at a catalog and saying she wants to but everything in it. You just answered your own question you dumb bitch.
>>1453700
Those fucking Facebook posts are always written in nigger text, most people I see on Facebook have a really low IQ,they are just peasants who are easily influenced by the wealthy lifestyle that is portrayed in the media so much, you can't save them.
>>1453700
then why am I so rich when I buy everything I want?
checkmate, asiethts
>>1453700
why do you care about poor fags?
figure out how to make money off them and ignore them otherwise. Their opinions and life choices are irrelevant
Sup /biz/
Does your country have this savings scheme where a group of people gets together, gives the organizator certain ammount of money during a specific timeframe, and one of them recieves the full amount by turns?
Let's say 10 guys get together and they have to give 100 dollars per week; then they take turns to receive the 1000 dollars every week.
How is this called in your country? Have you ever gotten involved in one of them?
Pic sort of related
>>1453674
They are called "Tanda" in my country btw. It's pretty common between blue collar workes because it allows you to either save money or receive a high ammount of money fast without paying for interests.
>jews hate them
>>1453674
It's brilliant. I've done it in my village for years and my parents years before that. You should definitely check it out and don't forget the monthly 10% cut for ISIS or we dip you in acid
Where do you see Ethereum a year from now?
>>1453628

ETH<BTC<ETC= new king in town
>>1453628
Vitalik Buterin is a fraud, I don't know what to think anymore. Is this how girls feel when they take it up the ass and you stop talking to them...

they will swoon over vitalik's mandarin and drink the kool aid
Hey my family is liquidating our stocks for 4 million euros and my brother and I get a Rolex
Narrowed my choice down to these two, which who do I buy?
>entry level rolex, dont want to spend more on a watch desu
Go with the left one unless youre a dirty stinking ass arab
>Rolex
Jesus christ, how pleb can one be?
>>1453583
Pro tip: Don't buy a Rolex, I've owned 2 in the past and have regretted both purchases, probably buyers remorse idk.
Hi, Canadian fag here.
Do you have any recommandation for an online broker? How do I decide which ones are good? Are fixed rates of percentage rates better? (I'm just starting, and will be investing with a starting sum of about 2000$, so I think I'll go with percentage...)
Should I just go with my bank's online investor ?
I'm with BMO, but thinking of changing and going with Tangerine since they don't have charges and monthly fees... Problem is Tangerine also doesn't have an online investor app.
i go through TD bank waterhouse
pros- if you login on your bank(with them) theres a button to automatically go into the brokerage to check/buy/sell your stocks thats convenient
cons- sometimes my orders dont go through fast enough, meaning if i bought a stock at $1, and i put in a n order to sell at $2, it might take then between 5-20 minutes to sell it and it mightve fallen to $1.9 or lower in the timeframe
>>
>>1453508
So would an independent online broker be able to sell instantly?
Also, I suppose that if I switch banks, I won't have access to the banks own online brokerage program. Can I "transfer" my portfolio information and content from one platform to the next? I suppose I should be able to since they belong to me, right?
Sorry for noob questions, but gotta start somewhere.
>>1453508
TD isn't bad but what's kinda fucked up is they don't have two factor authentication and it just seems like their security is kind of off. Maybe it's just me but it seems pretty insecure for like one of the biggest banks in NA
