Hello biz.

Can someone tell me as if I were a retarded child(i might be) how liens work and whats a lien waiver?

So once I begin work the claimant/owner basically gets a lien right for contracted amount? Or I guess they could be liened if something goes wrong?

And when we finish all work and they submit final payment I give them a lien waiver, kind of like a receipt?

Is that how it works?

>>
>>1461561
Most broadly, broadly speaking, yes.

A lien gives them a partial/full right in property for the amount you owe them to ensure they get something if you don't pay. If you don't pay, they generally have the right to the property.

When you pay, they give you a lien waiver and extinguish their right to the property.

There's a lot of nuance/contracting, though, so read what you're signing.
>>
>>1461637

Thanks for the response.

I am a baby business and my client actually asked for a lien waiver after he paid the final invoice which never happened to me before.

This guy was a pleasure to work with and paid on time so I guess it's kind of a super safe receipt only?
>>
>>1461653
Yep! He's probably doing that just to keep his paperwork current and have documentation (for taxes, his bank, etc.) in the future. If he paid you in full and he gave you a lien beforehand, I see no reason not to give him a waiver and call it a day.

Tell me again why this isn't a sign of an impending downtrend?

Here's what I see:
Before today, XMR showed insignificant daily lows, ludicrous daily highs and closed lower than these daily highs (while increasing in value compared to the previous day).

Now, XMR is showing insignificant highs, ludicrous lows, and is reporting loss compared to the previous day.

That, my friend, is not the sign of a happy, healthy, optimistic uptrend.

What's the point of wagecucking when people steal the money much easier that others worked for? I dont see it, I'm losing hope

What is the non tin foil hat result going to be of the Chinese move to have the Yuan backed by gold.

Will all fiat currencies implode overnight? How does one protect the investment in such crazy times?

America can't even destablise the country as China has stamped out every dissenting faction within the country. It seems short of an All out war, the petro dollar will be dead?

I have a chinese wife and UK business. Should be begin moving out assets to chinese banks?

>>
>>1461464
People infatuated with the Chinese economy are going to argue that the Yuan will become the reserve currency and the U.S. is going to implode.

Anyone who has seen real Chinese business or the degree to which they lie will brush it off as an attempt to legitimize a house of cards.

The sheer fact that Chinese people are desperately trying to get cash OUT of China should tell you to not put your assets in Chinese banks.

I will have the biggest goddamn erection when China inevitably implodes.
>>
>>1461469
>an attempt to legitimize a house of cards.
This.
China builds empties cities that no one lives in to inflate their GDP.
And eventually their workers are going to get sick of being exploited by the """""""communist""""""" government and its corporate pals.
>>
>>1461479
Yup, I knew a Chinese guy and his wife who moved to the US for that exact reason. Communist Americans think "get rid of the evil rich class" well in China there are families of 4 that only own 2 pairs of pants. This is one of many reasons that communism is particularly evil.

What is the best way to save 100 USD every month?

I'm sure this scenario applies to a lot of others as well.

I'm a grad student who just got to the United States. Turns out my part time would cover for my expenses and I'd be left with 100 to 120 USD every month. Now, what would /biz say is the best way of using the leftover money? I really don't want to spend it on pointless luxuries.

What I had in mind :
A. save it up in a fixed deposit.
B. If it's too less an amount, fuck it, blow it up on booze or something.
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1461430

$100 a month will not amount to anything.

Even if you compound it at 7% over 30 years, it would be like $10-12,000. Not really worth it.

Use it to buy Sutter Home wine and get bitches drunk for an ez poke. Much better investment.
>>
>>1461430
Just do what most people do: Put a fixed percentage (50%?) into a savings account, have the rest for fun. You're young and deserve to have some cash on hand, but a strict savings rule will keep you responsible.
>>
>>1461458
That kind of is my point. If I start spending money recklessly on wine and hookers, it turns into a habit that is hard to get rid of. And it's not, speaking as an adult, a habit that can sustain over the longer run. I know it won't amount to a lot of money. Sure. But I think it's a good start. I'm only 22 at the moment. And when I hopefully make better money in the future, I'm hoping these habits come in handy. What do you have to say?

Guys, why isn't there a stock that is universally known to always go up?

Think about it. If there was a stock that everyone knew would constantly go up forever, every day there would be new and new buyers trying to get in. And there would be little sellers because it would always be making gains and everyone knew it would keep going.

It's like a big money pot where everyone is constantly profiting because everyone is putting money in.

This would occur if there was only one stock on the market. So if everyone relaxed and traded one stock we could all be rich.

Im 19, im out of highschool and didnt have an oppurtunity to go to college. I currently live in a aparment attached to my grandparents house for free, I have an amazing oppurtunity to save money but im finding it super hard, whatever money I save I end up spending it all. I have an expensive hobby (video games) and even I have no trouble saving money since I, like you, have no real expenses.
Are you going out to clubs every night or something? Try being a shut-in instead. It's a lot cheaper.

I basically work all day 6 days a week and either netflix&chill with my GF or vidya, Idk just somehow blow it. I think i got it from my parents because both of them were/are financial trainwrecks completely.
>>
>>1461348
Netflix is a fixed and fairly low cost so that's not the problem.
Vidya is expensive like I said but unless you have pleb tastes and only play AAA games it's not hard at all to spend less than $100 a month on it and still have tons of new content, especially if you have so little free time. Or are you some dipshit who buys 40 Overwatch crates every week?

The past 30 days have been the least volatile of any 30-day period in more than two decades. Only five days during the most recent stretch saw the S&P 500 move by more than 0.5% in either direction, the lowest since the fall of 1995.

Getting worried yet?

Question /biz/

I'm looking to take out a mortgage for a home. I currently live in CA but I want to buy out of state. Would it be acceptable to the bank if I just send my wife to live there while i stay in CA with relatives and send money there for her to live/pay bills?

pic related what i came across looking at houses

Anyone?
>>
>>1461302
Why do you think you need to send your wife away?

Your bank might not loan for out-of-state property but they'd be able to point you in the right direction if that were the case.

If you have enough equity in your primary home that could be compelling enough.

Considering you're CA and that TX house is only $80k, it shouldn't be that hard to get a mortgage.

If it was, refinance your CA home and use the money to buy it outright

So just go to Dallas and find a bank

I'm a college student currently moving into his junior year at a state university. I'm majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in materials science in engineering, and I have a 3.98 GPA.

My question is, is mechanical engineering really that oversaturated of a field? I've been stressed out about this for years. I intend to go on to graduate school and I'm terrified that I've made the wrong choice of major.

What do I need to know if I want to go on to earn a masters in mechanical engineering at a high-profile place like Caltech or MIT? I've been working in a professor's research lab but I'm worried I'm not doing enough.

What if I would like to earn a masters in Chemical engineering or MSE (as I've been seriously considering) instead? Do graduate schools really care about bachelors minors in those fields?

As a 3rd-year student, what should I be doing right now?

I have highly valuable insider knowledge on global sociocultutal forces in operation. Gun stocks are going to increase in value dramatically extremely soon. Buy all the gun stocks you can and the cash will flow in.

I can't go in depth into the reasoning but it has to do with subconscious self-preservation effects of the current global stage.

Please screenshot this, save it and spread it around and repost it when gun stocks rise. They will rise in tandem with an extreme influx of terrorist activity due in part to Syrian refugees coming to the United States. How do I know this? I'm a sociologist who has been paying very close attention to the patterns in the middle east and I have concluded that there will be an unprecedented spike in need to hoard guns in the very near future.

Gun stocks will spike within the NEXT TWO WEEKS so buy them while they're hot.

Why am I posting this? I don't even own any stocks. In fact I'm flat broke. This is my attempt to build a reputation so that I can make a living doing one-on-one stock advising. Once I get some money I'll start investing myself.

So mark my words, screenshot this post and wait for the bull run!
