Get a 4.0 with some good internships and it won't matter. Experience is way more important than name.

Dallas/Houston/Austin Texas metro areas have a low cost of living in surrounding towns/cities and have an in demand job market. I lived in Arlington for almost 6 years and found it wonderful. Diverse society, cheap housing market, plenty of jobs in all fields, etc.

I would also say Atlanta. It's a booming city with real cheap houses.
