I'm astonished at how little effort is made to game this site and make 300% in a ridiculously short period of time.

It's certainly possible, because these types of extreme pump and dumps are fairly common. The question is, how do we anticipate them?

The obvious answer is insider trading but let's face it, most people on this board are not involved in massive P&Ds, just joke ones like POTcoin.

If there was any way to detect these things in advance - maybe from examining the order book - how would it be done?

I refuse to believe that this shit is just gambling, that's an excuse which retards use to justify their failure/incompetence.

>The question is, how do we anticipate them?
Not sure, you would have to set your own parameters and find out.

>I refuse to believe that this shit is just gambling, that's an excuse which retards use to justify their failure/incompetence.
It's definitely not gambling, a lot of math and algos are most likely behind a lot of these pumps, and the strategy seems to be working. It does seem like lots of research is being done behind the scenes to search fort the next pump.

just study the markets like everyone else is doing. one day an opportunity will pop up at you.

I spend very little of my time actually trading. I make maybe 1 or 2 trades a week, just watch the markets all the time and read news. try and think laterally about a coin and see if you can spot something worthwhile that isn't well known.
>>
>>1552563
What would you sat your success rate is?

Do you think you'd benefit from upping the number of trades?

Is this website legit? Will we ever see a crash along the lines of 2008 in the near future? Is financial economics really bullshit?

>Is financial economics really bullshit?
It's just that it's not as empirically based as many hard sciences.
Which means many adherents can have competing opinions that could all be viewed as accurate.
>>
>>1552540
I know that.

I mean is Austrian economics right when they say that you can't use empirical thought to model human behavior.
>>
ZH is nothing more than sensationalist clickbait. It's the lowest form of news

>Will we ever see a crash along the lines of 2008 in the near future?

Yes, you'll probably see about three by the time you retire. It doesn't mean the world is ending.

>Is financial economics really bullshit?

If economics were a math problem, then it would have an infinite number of variables. This isn't even counting the inherent biases of the individuals calculating it. Because of this, a Ouija board is about as reliable as any single economists predictions.

The first time in 5000 years that interest rates have gone to zero.

Interest and service charges on 100 trillion of global debt are about to eat the principle, that would imply complete meltdown of the system of usury. It's either zero to negative interest rates or WW3.
>>
>>1552439

Interest rates seem to be negatively correlated with economic growth, going by that chart.

It is due to a lack of demand for credit by companies. The wages of middle class earners have stagnated for decades, so there's no incentive for companies to supply more, as there is no demand.

1. How is gold a viable "post apocalypse" currency assuming a total breakdown in trading markets?

this is my assumption too, but if gold was popular in a pre-electronic global market. why wouldn't it be popular in a post-electronic regional market assuming global collapse?

>career advice

so I'm currently wagecucking for a large brokerage firm I dont want to name.

It's effectively sales, giving advice on mutual funds, and trying to get existing clients to bring all their assets over (most of the time this just means IRA rollovers).. howeer it's really just a shitty call center. I make about 55k and there's decent growth there. The job is going to switch to more of an advisory role next year due to DOL changes.

Where would you guys try to go from here? I don't want to sit in a call center anymore. I'd really like to get some type of analyst work. The only qualifications I really hhave right now is my experience with my job for about 1.5 yrs, a shitty bachelors degree is business management, as well as the series 7 and 66 licenses. what type of skills or qualifications do you guys htink I should work on to get out of this rut?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
im trying to even get to your stage, but id do the job a little longer even if it is painful. i heard being a broker gives you a lot of valuable experience. especially since its becoming more of advisory kind like you said just stick with it a little longer. whats next however ive got no fucking clue. ask collegues what their plans are, because nobody will be a broker forever. maybe you will get inspired
>>
If you can tough it out and excel at your job for a few more years you can do a career reset with a MBA (only good if you can get into a top tier school though)

I need life advice from successful anons

>3rd year uni student
>it's a prestigious school, I'm in for a B.S. program that's pretty much just a primer for professional school
>(med school, pharmacy, dentistry, etc.)
>horribly low GPA
>few friends
>can't get involved with any academic clubs because of shit GPA
>won't be able to get any research positions, again because of shit GPA
>on schedule to graduate with a science degree and then go work at McDonald's

What can I do? I've been getting much better grades this semester, but it feels too little too late.
Has anyone been in this position? What are my options?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
is it physically possible for you to get your GPA up to a satisfactory level?

i literally spent the last four months of uni doing nothing but studying. managed to get my grade up from pass to highest possible.

i'd spent the rest of the time before that partying and procrastinating, so i had a lot too catch up on, but it's possible.
>>
restarting worked for me.

entered uni at 18. too stupid, too imature, a lot of opportunities but couldnt get them coz too much of a pussy, only wanted to take it slow, masturbate and play games all day. woke up to life and retook it at 23. best thing i did in my life and what i recommend anyone. only a few people are truly ready to take life seriously before their twenties.
>>
>>1552327
Did your GPA from the first time around hurt you? Did you retake the same program? Same school or different? What are you doing now? What did you do differently?

Sorry, don't feel obliged to answer all of these

very cheap way to live if you jews are looking to minimize living expenses. 203 dollars a day depending on how many sandwiches u eat

PEANUTBUTTER: $0.456 (1 sandwich)
WHITE BREAD: $0.0617 (1 sandwich)
WATER: $0 a day

provides all macros you need (carbs/protein/fat).
occasionally buy nonbranded breakfast juice to get vitamins and minerals.
if you get bored of taste then just buy bananas which cost around $0.29 for one serving and cut it up on the sandwich.
this is by far the cheapest way to live.

Also porridge.

A bowl of porridge is one of the cheapest meals possible and filling and nutritious as hell.

Trouble is it tastes pretty bland so you get bored of it fast.

How long would it take to get my credit score into the 700's if I paid down the balances on my credit cards?

Do your parents have good credit? Ask them to put your name on one of their credit cards (they don't have to give you the credit card). It boosted my credit score from 548 to 689.
>>
>>1552435
Not really an option. One parent is going through bankruptcy, the other isn't involved.

I'm grown btw so I want to do this on my own.

These are the balances of the CC's and the one other acct.

How exactly does someone 'secure rights?'

'securing rights' is a phrase I keep coming across in articles. I understand, more or less, how you acquire, say, the film rights to a book, for instance.

But I have heard two other stories which left me confused -

1) an article I read years ago in a movie fan magazine, about a guy , presumably an entertainment lawyer? IP expert? who secures rights to a film based only on a short synopsis, which you can submit on a postcard.
This article was maybe 20 years ago, don't know if still relevant, and I was not very entrepreneurial back then, so didn't note any info, it just stuck in my mind since then. I can remember only vague details.

2) I read once that within 10 minutes or so of the 9/11 World Trade Centre attack, somebody had already 'secured the rights' to movies based directly on the event (there have been several made) not sure if they meant a specific movie, or all future rights.

These are the ones that confuse me - how do you secure rights to factual IRL events, if not based on, say, an individual experience?

Who do you call? What do you file? And with whom?

>how do you secure rights to factual IRL events
You don't. It can't be done.
>>
make an agreement with the source owner. if you can write scripts and pitch them to producers who want to make them into movies you've 'secured rights' to get paid whatever deal you made with the producer because producers have standard contracts they use. Otherwise, you need a lawyer or to become a laywer who knows how to draw up contracts.
>'secure rights' = make a deal to use and/or get paid for it
>>
for number 2 i think it was a trademark registration for the name Twin Towers attack or 9/11 or something like that. i have heard that story too, that in the afternoon of 9/11 (((someone))) who worked in NY attempted to trademark the name.

for number 1, i have also read this story and as far i know it was true, although your details aren't quite right.

the man was an agent or film producer and he would accept pitches for movies from people by message, such as you say postcard or letter or answerphone message. the pitch was just an elevator pitch, no more than a few sentences.

for example the movie Phone Booth the pitch was "a man answers a ringing phone in a phone booth and doesn't leave for the whole movie". the producer was paying for the ideas that he could then turn into scripts and sell to studios.

instead of buying a story or a screenplay he was buying the idea from people. that isn't such a difficult situation to understand.

he was the man who could and was looking for the 'ideas guy'.
