At least in the states you hear of people with physics/engineering backgrounds becoming quants all the time. Maybe look into that. Also if you do well in your undergrad you could always just go get a business graduate degree. You're definitely not fucked, especially if you're going to a school that is well known for engineering like you say.

Why aren't you taking computer science? Become a quant. Investment banking jobs are dwindling and banks are replacing them with quants.

The future of this field will be predominantly ran by quants. If you're a wiz at math, which it seems like you are, then I'd certainly switch over to comp sci, finish my bachelor's degree, and then go on all the way to get a doctorate.

After that, you'd have a job anywhere in the fucking world. Any bank would take you in, as quants are highly prized. Not only that, but they're closer to the market than anyone else on Wall Street. So if you really do have a thing for the economy and the stock market, then your goal should be to become a quant.

If you fail to get your masters or doctorate, then you still have a computer science degree, which will still get you a well-paying job in any market.

Just another tidbit: You can expect this type of question commonly in both banking, and any type of engineering/CS.

exact order, you shouldn't ask that question in a real interview, though, because it's pretty defined within the framing/wording of the problem. If order didn't matter, you could be sure they would tell you.

Among these types of scenarios, where you have two competing ideas as to what the logic is defined as, expect the more difficult one to be the one sought after. ESPECIALLY if one of these is trivial as fuck.
If something ever seems too trivial, in a way that seems it's too good to be true, it likely is.

Wouldn't it be viable then, using Nintendo as an example again, to buy as soon as the release is announced. There's no hype before that, but interest will build up afterwards. Or, buy close to the release date.
Then, sell shortly after the release. You may not be able to maximise profits because the price could still go up or down after you sell, but you could still make a good profit.

Depending on what you're trying to do I wouldn't use a Vanguard account, I'd get a low-commission account at something like optionshouse or TradeKing. If you trade with any frequency (and if you are a noob, you shouldn't) commissions will ruin your shit.
