Would I save money financing a home from Muslim banks? They don't believe in interest rates.
Basically
>The customer has a down payment
>The bank has the rest
>The bank and customer buy the property together
>The bank sells it's shares of ownership rights to the customer over time while retaining it's usage right until they no longer have any ownership.
>in houses, the rental value determines the monthly payment,
>unlike traditional banks, you can't buy anything you want. It has to be profitable for them so if the price of the house and the rental value isn't yielding them as much as a typical loan, they will deny it or ask you to negotiate for a lower price.

ask them for an offer. then compare with a loan estimate from a traditional bank.

Many get around the interest prohibition by instead charging service fees that are coincidentally similar to what a secular bank would charge in interest.
>>
>>1574023
Because inflation exists, banks must charge interest or they are getting shafted by your hypothetical deal. They would literally be losing money in your scenario.

Git gud.

Hi fellow /biz/'s Canadians!

I've got a question about Taxes & TSFAs.

> got a TSFA of near 6000$ at a bank.
> got another TSFA at my stock broker with about 4000$ in it.

Right now I'd be off limit for the yearly 5500$ maximum contribution I THINK.

My question is:
Does that limit apply PER institution or PER person?
Meaning can I have multiple TSFA worth of 5500$ and be good with my taxes or shouldn't it go over 5500 TOTAL between ALL my TSFAs?

TL;DR
I have multiple TSFAs with over 5500 in them in total. Will I get in trouble and pay a bunch of taxes?

Also ITT random canadian tax-related questions.

if he doesn't know if the stock is going to go up or down how will he invest the earnings of his client? if he keeps losing the client's money there will be no earnings to invest and he will lose the client too. if he doesn't know where the stock is going to go then he might get lucky and earn once or twice but sooner or later he will lose the money then the clients too

Yes that is correct. If you could predict stocks with 100% accuracy there would be no competition. You can only make well educated guess' about the course a stock might take

hey /biz/nezz

I really need to get some help I can't really figure which education I should pick:

mathematical economics

or

economics

I want a job as portfolio manager and both of these seem to be good choices for it but I'm really torn between these two.

I have used so many hours that I'm going crazy and all the information out in the web seems to be very poor, it is really hard to know what to do now.

Right now I'm thinking of going with math econ but every time I start thinking about it again i change my mind to thinking I want the opposite of what I previously thought.

please help me out with some info and maybe experience.

>If you carry Samsung Galaxy Note 7 during a flight travel in the US, it will be treated as a federal crime.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had officially banned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 handsets from being carried during an airplane journey. This is after CPSC’s decision to recall all units of the phone after reports of explosions and burns.

After doing all sort of things to stop the use of Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the authorities have now issued an emergency restriction and prohibition order. As part of the new order, a person found to be carrying Galaxy Note 7 will be prosecuted under the law. The carrying of Galaxy Note 7 will be treated as a crime.

The order prevents passengers from carrying the handset on their person, in carry-on baggage, in checked in baggage, or as cargo. Hence, you should not carry the phone with knowledge.

In case a passenger is unaware of the new order and brings in the Galaxy Note 7 with his baggage, then the flyer should promptly inform the staff. The handset should be switched off and handed over to the crew member, who will store the phone in a safe place till the end of the journey.

If a passenger intentionally carries a Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the relevant flyer would be subject to civil penalties of up to $179,933 for each violation for each day they are found to be in violation (49 U.S.C. 5123). They are even liable to prosecution, which could result in fines under title 18, imprisonment of up to ten years, or both (49 U.S.C. 5124).

How do I get in contact with domestic / overseas manufacturers? Any experience with this? Minimum orders? Recommendations?

My goal is to get a run of 5-10 (still working on generating interest) pairs of pants made using a pattern I've designed. Budget is pretty low right now but I will sell the finished pieces for a very high margin.
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1573495
I doubt you can get low amounts like 5-10 manufactured. Try 100 at the least. Remember that the manufacturers optimize their profits by letting the machines run uninterrupted for a longer period.
>>
>>1573507
hmm yeah you're definitely right, looks like I'll be making these by hand or paying someone to make them by hand locally. But I do plan on growing, as quickly as I feasibly can, so I'll leave this thread up because maybe someone has experience with this kind of thing and can offer some advice.

That aside: Here's some of my assumptions:

Global consumer data is going to be dismal, will be seeing that sometimes November.

DB and DBK (worst offender) will not fail this year, we got shilled, time to move on

Energy might or might not also go up due WINTERISCOMINGHODOR with help of a strong dollar. And dollar will probably remain strong due I have a strong inclination that banks will sour their own data to force Yalen to chicken while Eurobucks, Yuan, will all slip various reason or the other. Yen is a joke -> . <-

Some of my current portfolio:
ORCL (Stable, the lack of volatility plus reasonable performance is a comfort stock for me)
XLE (ETF Oil, yes energy but we know it's oil, energy hype, I'm too insecure to not invest in) VDE (ETF Oil, same)

FRA:DBK (Fresh off the dead cat, going to dump soon, learner from DB:AG back September )
GSLC (GoldmanSachs Equity Frankenstein, volatile but surprisingly predictable, as always, sell before drop, duh)
CVX (Overvalued piece of crap, but running on hype, will sell soon)

Is holding money in a savings/TFSA account a terrible idea for short term storage 3-12 months (during the 2016 presidential election) ??

I'm a Canadian, but i have more saving now than ever and its temporarily in my bank account because I've just sold an asset.

in 6 months i hope to reinvest in a small home but i cant do this until spring.

should i buy two 1 kg bars of gold or just chill the fuck out?

what does /biz/ think?

be carful with TFSA if you're planning on withdrawing the money. Theres a limit you can deposit/withdraw based on your age. If you plan on investing tho, this is your best bet if its not long term and you're within your limit

>be carful with TFSA if you're planning on withdrawing the money. Theres a limit you can deposit/withdraw based on your age.

Nope.

No limit whatsoever. That's for RRSP's.

TFSA you can withdraw whenever. But if you withdraw your contribution room is only carried over to next year.

As in, let's say you got $5500 to contribute this year, you deposites $5500 and you withdraw $5k. Your contribution room for 2016 is done but you'll get $5k additional next year
