What is the best thing I can do to keep my chances of getting a position afloat after a mediocre phone interview?

I had an interview today with a company that I want to join, but I didn't do outstanding in the interview. It was a little shorter than it was supposed to be, but they outlined the next steps to me and gave me a timeframe of when they would be holding in-person interviews. In the meantime, I am going to be traveling to one of the corporate events that the company puts on, and have been communicating with the recruiter about this and who I can meet from the company.

Am I going to be okay?

>mediocre phone interview

The same thing happened to me last month.

I was overqualified for the position, too.
>>
>>1578633

How was it mediocre for you? I felt like I didn't articulate myself well in certain areas.
>>
>>1578639

I didn't connect with the interviewer.

He was an effeminate male with a less-than-outgoing personality type.

I am the complete opposite.

My energy turned him off, and he didn't appreciate my credentials.

Hi /biz/ I'm raising capital for the first time to fund the initial expansion stage of a company.

At this stage the numbers although resting on solid data and assumptions are purely speculation so using future earnings and financial forecasts to value the company is really speculative.

Some of the VCs we've been in talks with have come up with some valuations but I'm really unsure what they base these on and how I can make the company more valuable.

Should I hold off investment, should I expand the team more, wait longer for the tech to the further? (Keep in mind getting the money now would speed up all of these things)

Anyone have any experience with valuing early stage companies or things of this sort?

Um...
>>
>>1578558

It depends on the type of company, but it will be driven by the target market size, share it can take, and probably the feasibility of technology, if it is fairly speculative. You are usually wasting time if you try to build out a full blown DCF for a startup - estimating revenue (or user growth or something that's more intrinsic to the company's operation) for the next few years and applying a multiple from some comparable companies is usually more realistic.

I was involved with a startup (nothing to do with technology) that talked about raising money from some of the PE/VC investors who specialize in the space, but it was just too small of a ticket for them to get interested. We instead raised money from angel investors - we got a much, much, much better deal from them. Professional investors will want to be more involved in the company, which can be good or bad.

Aswath Damodaran's "The Dark Side of Valuation" talks a little about valuing early stage companies.

Is working you way through college even worth it? I hate the idea of having such a long term debt, but I also hate washing dishes.
What are long term benefits for graduating debt free?

No.

Depends on what career you are going into. Higher paying careers can be worth I worked part time at a bookstore on weekends through college, but I did it mostly because i enjoyed it. My advice to you would be find a job that you actually enjoy. Then you could save a bit and drop it all on your debt when you get out of college.

They just released a new breathalyzer that could be used by police and shit. Imagine if the gov starts purchasing these IMO it could grow big. It's really cheap at the moment.

> The Need for a Solution

> Medical and recreational marijuana use is becoming legal across various jurisdictions in North America and globally. This is presenting a significant challenge to law enforcement to keep our roads safe from drugged drivers.
> Current marijuana enforcement relies on an officer's “opinion” as to the impairment by marijuana – there is a need for a scientific approach that can accurately determine levels present in a non-invasive way.

Read about it:
- http://www.cannabixtechnologies.com/thc-breathalyzer.html

It even had media coverage on such outlets:
Global TV, Reuters, TIME Magazine, Mashable, SF Gate, ABC News (Detroit)

Sounds pretty good to me. Any other advice?

Hey /biz/ poor amerifag here.

I've got $300 dollars and I'm debating on either just saving it or trying to make some money.

First thing, I'm completely new to stocks and /biz/. I'm either going to invest into stocks or cryptocurrency.

Which route should I go?
What has the most profit? Loads of penny stocks or more weighted one?
Is cryptocurrency really going to take off?

2ldr; poorfag needs quick rich scheme or ideas for investing with $300.

Do you already have enough saved to act as an emergency backup for a few months? If you don't, you should put any and all spare money towards that until you do.

What is the purpose of scamming people on a website like Amazon if the buyer is so heavily protected?

I want to buy my sister a laptop but the only seller has no reviews, just started, and sells all of their products for like 30% market value. How are they benefiting from this?
13 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Gee lets think.

how is one going to make sales selling at the same price as people with thousands of positive reviews?

It would lead me to believe he selling at a ridiculous low price to attract new customers who are willing to take the risk in buying from him for the reward of low prices.

retard
>>
>>1577606
Using that logic, anyone starting a business would have to sell at such low prices that they couldn't turn a profit.

I understand a 20% discount - but this guy is selling $1400 laptops for $700. Is there any way this isn't a scam? I wouldn't buy from someone like this if it wasn't my only option as my sister lives in canada, and for some reason this new seller is the only person selling laptops in my price range.
>>
Its a scam and Amazon doesn't protect you from ALL sellers, read again when buying.
Also, just buy a laptop from a good reputation retailer, don't be a cheap fag on those stuff, you will regret it later.

Guys,

spillover from /pol/ here, been reading for a while now and realise that /biz/ is the true red pill

how much money do you realistically need to start playing the stock market (without just losing it instantly), also where the fuck do I start?

also, is gold/silver a meme?

Yeah man and econ is so much more calm. I noticed my happiness levels raise after cutting /pol/ out a lot.it may not feel stressful after you're using to it, but being around stress nonstop wears on you.

You don't need much money at all! Though it is hated on here, robinhood is an app you can invest with but I would wait until someone who knows more than I comes in and gives more advice.
.
I also am fairly new so this is just the information I will give until someone who knows more comes in.
>>
>>1577431
cheers for the book list man I appreciate it

I'll have a look into Robinhood, I'm looking to trade on Australian or Japanese stock exchanges (time zones) so if anyone can help with where to start in that regard I'd appreciate it.

Also, is Schiffgold a meme? It seems like a good way to get some protection in the even of WW3, (or Great Depression 2.0), but is it just a big scam? Also if its not a meme where should I buy it and how much?
