I'm starting a new job at an IT company next week. The office dress code is very casual. Pictures of employees on the site all include t shirts and hoodies, only a few execs wearing collared shirts. When I interviewed, everyone I met just had a t shirt and jeans. What should I wear on my first day? I've been working in fine dining and then finance for most of my working career, always either formal or at the very least business casual. I know the office environment is casual, but as someone new I want to make a good impression and not come off as a slob. I was thinking just wear khakis and a nice flannel? Is anyone going to give a shit? I don't want to dress too nice and come off as a weirdo. Pic related- possible outfit for first day.
Dressing casually instantly tells management that you are not management material. First impressions matter. You need to at least dress professionally your first week before everyone realizes you are a degenerate slacker.

Well management here is wearing t-shirts and jeans. I'm not gonna come in wearing a suit like an autist

How do I become a millionaire or at least make $500k+/year easily without an MBA?
I'm planning on going into STEM (science specifically) or Med.

Scientists don't make any money.
I think the market is still oversaturated with wannabe doctors.
You have to get go into business or finance.
Start your own business. No one is gonna pay you $500k a year, you gotta pay yourself that.
How to achieve financial independence?
I'm 25, luckily I have practically no debts. I worked a stupid job for 2 years out of college, and just now got a new job in sales. It's for a software company and could be great if I learn how to sell but it'll never be enough for total independence.
Right now making 36k before comission, if I factor in commission I can be making upwards of 50k per year.
What I want though, is to not have to work. I want to have residual income that allows me to do what I want within a reasonable budget.
Ideally I would like to invest or do something that allows me to live off of $40k to $50k in dividends each year. A modest life but completely doable. Plus I'd be able to work and make even more.
I don't know how to do this hence my posting here. Although I'm only 25, I realized now that I was a retard in college and should've majored in something I can actually make money in. That's why I'm in sales now (not a biz major) trying to make money.
I just don't want to work my whole life and never have enough money. I want to be able to fully enjoy life, I'd like to learn an instrument, or learn how to paint. I truly want to be more creative and artistic, and I think the only way to do this is to be independently wealthy.
What stocks should I invest in? How much should I save up before investing? I already have $4,000 in chevron or something, and another 4,000 in a 401k from my old job. Should I try to get into real estate?
Educate yourself.

>What I want though, is to not have to work
Wow here we fucking go again. Every other thread on this goddamn board...
>>1582833
dubs of truth but for real. I want to do meaningful work, for sure. I want to feel fulfilled in life.
But I would like the ability to either not have to, or to have the money to invest in learning a new, highly valuable, skill.
How do you guys feel about private enterprise in finance? Why can/can't/should/shouldn't we all be able to open up personal portfolios that are managed automatically by bots?
This occurred to me because I've seen funds labeled as green, ethical, stuff like that, but you don't have much control over whether such funds agree with one's own sense of what's green (like nuclear power) or ethical (like animal rights, degrees of separation from forced labor etc.), do you?
>>1582699
I don't understand the question.
I thought you COULD open a personal portfolio managed by bots.
>>1582705
Is it profitable, compared to an index fund, for example? The common wisdom seems to be to invest in index funds, but do their economics scale down to personal portfolios?
>>1582712
Index funds are superior over any long period of time. They're bad in bear markets, but over a long period of time the market always goes up.
>he tries to pay off his loan as soon as possible
kek
read a book
when is the right time to pay then?
>>1582698
As soon as possible.
This is because the sooner you pay off your loan, the less you pay in interest. In some cases, you have a fixed amount of interest (like some school loans) and it only makes sense to pay the minimum to maximize how much cash you have on hand.
>>1582703
>As soon as possible.
You're retarded
investing on the market is always better and is not even close
Also with fixed ratio you pay less and less with every year due to inflation
Hell given enough time you end up paying less than the money you borrow
hi biz.
i made my computer science degree and want to start a business but i don't have any "that's-gonna-be-the-next-big-thing"-app-idea. it wouldn't be enough to start up a company, then call other companies and ask whether they plan to develop software, wouldn't it?
>>1582646
i'm not really searching for a specific app idea. i want to know i) how to get a foot into market and ii) with what (e.g. starting with websites, going over to whatever).

Why don't investors buy stock just before the dividend date and sell right afterwards?
>>1582335
The stock value gets artificially boosted and subsequently devalued for the ex-dividend date, if I recall correctly
>>1582384
Wouldn't this also effect normal stock holders
>>1582335
In order to get a dividend payment you usually need to have owned the stock for a period of time.

I need your advice /biz. If you were going to sell a mmog currency which one would you sell? Seems like the runescape gold market is already saturated. What are some up and coming mmogs that allow you to send currency within the game?
>>1582303
I would sell the one that would yield the biggest profit and would be easiest to farm
>>1582304
Do you have any suggestions for ones that aren't already saturated.
Doesn't necessarily have to be a mmog currency. Does anyone know of any virtual commodities that are in high demand.
