Are these prolific and well paying or is Data Science just a meme? What should I major in and study on my own to get a Data Analytics job?
>>1595264
Statistics. Data science is just applied stats. If you want to make big money, study finance along with it.
>>1595268
what do I self study then? I've taken a few stats classes but they teach 0 programming, albeit a bit of R
>>1595271
get better at R, enter kaggle competitions, play around with tensorflow, start running your own experiments based on publicly available data
Should I cut my losses (5$) and sell everything and start fresh in the AM
>>1595192
Any reason you bought such weird stocks
>>1595192
Just fucking hold and sell right after Q4
sell them all and buy yourself a beer. Or a crack rock
Will Trump really put us $5 trillion more in debt?
In terms of business and our economy, how much of a disaster will Trump be? Will he take us beyond recognition and repair?
Tell me the truth
It's commonly agreed that he won't build the wall but randomly deport mexicans and whoever else he pleases
other than that, since he fell for the low taxes and consumer economy meme, he may increase overall debt
also americans will find validity in their racism and all the CS and CEO pajeets will go back to India, american companies won't be able to work without undercut salaries
He won't
>>1595185
Nice try, CTR
Do employers even really bother to check references?
>>1595105
It depends on the employer. Some do some don't. It may depend on the importance of the job
>>1595114
This.
There are services to act as fake references for you. If you're into social engineering, set up a burner or sideline (app) number that forward to your phone and be your own reference.
>>1595143
How legal is that? If they person you're impersonating finds out can they sue?
>convicted of insider trading
>made 3k from the trade
lol wtf
top kek
meanwhile Wall Street made 700G$ off of the 2007 "crisis" and mot of the same CEOs are still running the banks that crashed the economy
nice country you got there
>>1594997
It sure is.
We don't let people like you in, though.
>>1595005
I don't ever plan to move to the US, Canada is better in every single aspect :-)
How much money are we about to see lost here?
How much of a boom will there be in sandbar construction or will there even be a boom?
Seaside doesn't really narrow it down.
Where exactly are you talking about?
>>1594968
I think he's talking about rising seawater levels
>assuming it's real
sue the government/companies participating in geoengineering
>assuming it's fake
buy and develop cheap land
>college engineering student and RA
>guy on my RA staff is an economics student
>has idea about phone app, but isn't a technical guy so can't make it himself
>say I'll do it and we can split 50/50
>much more work than expected especially since I haven't done this before
>sacrificed every weekend the last 6 weeks working on it
>to complete both android and iOS I would have to sacrifice my winter break and all my weekends next semester too
>he's also working on building his real estate career
>when we talk about getting money through kickstarter and investors, he says we could keep some for ourselves, then I say no we should put it all into the business and he plays it off like he was joking when he really wasn't
>he suggested we have a subscription and offer a free month, then send an email to the users in the middle of the night while they're sleeping that their free trial is over so they don't notice us kicking them into the payed subscription, again drops the idea when I say we shouldn't do that
>hasn't come up with any creative ideas, only parrots what he reads online and takes ideas from other apps
>seems like he's trying to stroke my ego by saying "I told my family this doesn't happen without you" and when I meet his girlfriend she talks about "how much she's heard about me"
I'm not gonna do all the heavy lifting while he works on his real estate stuff and goes out with his girlfriend. I would just be letting myself be taken advantage of if I sacrifice my winter break to work on this while he chills. If he were an experienced business man then he might be more useful but he's just a student who hasn't done anything so I can't use the excuse "he will handle the business side".
If he's willing to take advantage of customers then he would be willing to take advantage of me. I dont know him well enough to really know. My gut tells me not to trust him. How do I break it to him? We're still gonna be on the same staff next semester which will be awkward
Good thing I never told my family or friends about this so I don't have any explaining to do. But he's told everyone he knows that he's working on this. Oops
I didn't tell anyone because I knew they would question why he's needed if I'm making the app. But they would have been right
OP one word
cuck
who /underappreciated at work/ here?
I have a different situation. My boss praises me to heavens but pays me shit.
>>1594904
Because he knows you'll keep putting up with it while you do excellent work for cheap. Don't sell yourself short. It's how I was stuck in a low-paying job where I exceeded expectations yet made less than my coworkers doing less of the same work.
>>1594901
I "seemed" to be liked by everyone (not sure about the appreciated part). Well, except this one intelligent guy. He's friendly enough but since he's so smart, he thinks you're stupid. Can't fault him and yet it irritates when he looks down on you.
Does anyone want to help me restore my business? A good portion of my assets and income are being held hostage by a third party company that I sell through.
I need advice and guidance.
sure thang, nigga
>>1594922
Not sure how I should proceed from your post
You really think a stranger will get your money back from those ((((third party companies))))? What did their support say when you demanded your assets released?
You're likely fucked. The only times I've seen this working out well for the customer is when the customer posts it on social media and it goes viral (99% of the time it doesnt). The agency has no choice but to save face and make it right.
See a lawyer. That's what they're there for. Did you breach their contract or terms of service? Don't waste your time if you even think you did. Chalk it up as learning lesson the hard way.
>Have (soccer) prediction model that is consistently profitable
>Want to use the information I can provide to generate passive income
What would be the best course of action? Start my own page and offer the information for a subscription fee, share the predictions on existing platforms, for example tipster sites, wrap the whole thing up in a mobile app?
For the sake of on-topic discussion, please refrain from posting comments such as "models don't work" and the likes and just assume it is indeed profitable.
>>1594765
>What would be the best course of action
idk what about spelling football correctly
>>1594798
Picture is taken off some SBO article, but yeah, correct spelling always seems like a good idea.
Creating a site where you sell the model for a subscription would be best way to achieve passive income.
You can start off shilling on betting forums and social media groups or tipster sites to get your first customers.
Add some affiliate links to popular brokers/gambling networks and you'll earn even more passive income.
Maybe write up an exclusive ebook for how to profit step-by-step for people who buy a $vip$ membership to your site.
There's a lot of options. These are what I would do. Just take action one step at a time.
Is now a good time to sell apple stock?

What's your retirement and estate plan, /biz/?
I don't make much money, and I've very young still, but I realized that starting now, even if I'm starting small, can potentially have huge impacts on my savings down the line.
Here's my plan so far
>Keep a savings and standard brokerage account so that these funds stay accessible to me no matter what
>Open a Roth IRA, hold stable, dividend-paying equities and reinvest, eventually when I die I can gift this to my future kids or family members and they will receive tax-free distributions until the money is gone
>Acquire real estate and eventually use rental income to cover any and all living expenses (my "retirement" income)
>Hold properties in an LLC, transfer ownership of LLC to heirs when I get old or die
What's your plan?
Sounds like a great plan OP
My plan:
> Start a tech business and/or write trading algoritms
> Invest savings in my own algo
> Invest in real estate when I have the capital
Also need to finish bachelor/master tho currently doing internships
Not sure yet if my master is gonna be finance or EE related.
>>1594733
>but I realized that starting now, even if I'm starting small, can potentially have huge impacts on my savings down the line.
Good job anon. This realisation already puts you MILES ahead of everyone of your peers.
>>1594758
Btw I know this is a 'risky' plan, but I'm going for the 'rich by 30' meme.
Does anyone here actually like their job or are you just doing it because it pays well/makes your family and friends proud?
>>1594729
Literally just doing what pays the bills. Shitty factory work. Sometimes I leave work early to go to job interviews lol
Most people I talk to say they hate their job one way or another. In fact it's a pet peeve when I talk to most people, all they do is complain about their job. Ironically they take no steps to secure a better one.
I've worked a few jobs. They all start off fine, but always become displeasing once getting used to it. Now I work for myself and things are always happy.
I like my job. It's simple and with a pay to match. The problem is the training or lack thereof. They give you a 10 minute lesson and then expect you to know everything. It's disappointing to me since I like to do a good job. Pride in working and all that.
well, goodbye investment banking job
>>1594714
Yep
>>1594714
Yep
Yep
You have been unemployed for 1 year & 6 months in NYC with a economics degree and applied to over 300 internships since the time you left college/were in still college.
You've done everything in the book from making resume and cover letters perfect to networking; all of which have failed you because you happen to have shitty luck. You've been looking for a internships and/or entry level job since then. Only job experience is a part time stint you had at rite aid
You recently get an offer for an unpaid internship at a startup. They want you 5 days a week with no pay.
Do you
1) Say yes and stay quiet about compensation so they don't recind their offer
2) Say yes and try to negotiate for at least $200 a month stipend
3) Turn them down and stay at home while repeating the same shit you've always been doing, applying and praying someone says yes
I need your help /biz/, for the love of everything you adore in life. Please
>>1594683
Ps, they are really strict on the no pay thing
Is sitting at home better than working? no way, You're lazy even considering saying no. That's probably why you havent got any offers, if your personality is deviant they can smell it from miles away.
>>1594687
You have a point which is why Im conflicted between the 3
If I do say yes, do I shut my trap about a $200 a month stipend? They were really strict and upfront about no pay when I interviewed. I'm afraid if I say that, that would signal the person who interviewed me to take away the current offer
