The surest way to get accurate information is to not be an outsider.
There are /biz/ discords for this.

Hello, /biz/.
I have technology to time travel.
I intend to make use of it.
It works in such a way I have the exact same mind as of now but in my body at some point of the past. It's basically mind transferring.
I will time travel EXACTLY 10 years and 1 month to the past. I will wake up on the 10th of October of 2008.
I need to know what kind of information can give me economic leverage before I embark that will make me wealthy by now.
I would like to know what to buy, sell, invest in, and by what time.
Thank you for everything.

I've been curious at recycling of product and excess waste; is there a reason grocery companies DON'T donate expired product to food shelters? Not asking in a moral sense but I'm wondering if there is an actual reason like asset loss involved when companies donate?
>>1609670
>loss involved when companies donate?
donating is more expensive than disposing.
>>1609670
Demand for their products go down.
>>1609670
I assume it's a liability thing. They don't want to be held responsible for food which is improperly distributed.
Also like >>1609685 says, unless the homeless shelter has their own trucks to pick it up the waste, it's just an added cost on top of the dumpster/refuse service which they would still need.
I have some money saved, but it's not enough for my plans. Is it rational to gamble half the money, for the chance of getting the amount I need?
>>1609609
how would you gamble it? i don't think it would work, ¿why don't you invest it instead?
>>1609609
Gambling is not rationale, unless you're the house.
Just wait and save.
>>1609618
I mean pure gambling, with 300% returns. No investment would make that much

They invest your unsettled funds after a trade. It's also pretty basic shit.
> When is it coming to my country?
Never. They only have "plans" on an Australian beta.
> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
If it takes more than 3 days, try emailing their support. They are very good.
> Is this the place to pump and dump and/or shill a worthless stock?
Yes
> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, am I being jewed?
No, that would actually be illegal. Robinhood graphs are just shit and only show you an average, not-really-realtime price. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform. -- (also learn difference between LIMIT and MARKET orders!!!)
> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
thinkorswim is bretty gud if you want to go open a second account with real broker.
Otherwise you should be using stockcharts.com, finviz, or Yahoo/Google finance [yahoo is actually shit now] for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Anybody want to start a successful business with me? I'm a programmer with almost a decade of experience building mobile apps/games, websites, server backends, etc. I'm good at what I do, but I can't for the life of me come up with a good original idea. If somebody here has one, let's build it! I'm particularly interested in mobile games, but I'm open to any kinds of ideas. I'm not looking to be paid for this, but to partner with somebody and split the profits.
>>1609503
You're going to get a lot of interested replies.
There are a million ideas out there, don't worry about that, but finding a co-founder who will bring the tech idea to the point of where it actually makes money, is very important.
Drop me an email, we can just talk casual for now, get you know eachother ya know.
[email protected]
(attyounis @ gmail dot com)
Im probably your guy, I've been looking for a co founder for a while now, and I've met with over 5 potential partners, all of whom have little technical skills, I even promised to take care of the business side of the startup.
I guess as a final word, I have a few ideas sat on the line, one in particular i've been planning on doing myself, but would prefer a partner, I also have strategies and business plans written for them, although business plans dont really mean much, because you can never plan for everything.
Well talk more later, hope you get back to me soon man.

Well, it is a business and finance board is it not?
Oculus founder (or should I say creator), connected with like minded people through the internet, through a interest related forum, that forum being based around VR.
Im going to go out on a limb and say that you have never been in business, or just too detached from reality to think that just because were on 4chan, our potential to start a meaningful partnership is lacking, which says a lot, considering that your on 4chan.
Any truckers here today? Long-haul driving is my dream job and I am ready to enroll in a four month driver training program, but I am worried that the occupation will be obsolete in a few years due to automation. Is this a legit concern or just a meme? I want a long-term career, 30+ years, and would like to be an owner-operator sooner rather than later.
bump as i long for a good answer to this desu
As long as you are operating Interstate you are fine. Automated trucks can't handle hard conditions like steep grades on a rainy day or hazards, so while inner cities might have a auto truck company to drive 2 hours to go 10 miles in traffic. Long distance interstate is safe.
If you are lucky you might actually get to drive a self driving truck, nothing right now is even fully automated. It's entirely possible to earn a good wage playing games in a sleeper while the truck just coasts on the highway for a couple hours a day.

i understand now that allot of my finance problems stems from my lack of discipline and effort but ive grown now and know that no matter what im going to have to work hard. I just want a faster way out. Is school the best options. What kind of careers should i aim for if im running out of time. Is it too late for me to break into the middle class? Tech is big around here and im willing to learn computer skills, but i have no guidance. How do i find a path? I figure on a 60k a year salary ill be pretty content. What can i pursue thatll get me there in around 2 years or less? Specific careers and some ways to start getting into them would really help. Plz /biz/. You guys seem to really understand finance

This. You can get educated on government dime, you will be somewhat disciplined after leaving, and if you ain't a retard you can choose a non-combat rate.
a Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies degree
vs
An elementary educator degree
Trying to figure out which to pick. I'm not even sure what jobs you can get with t he first one but it sounds kinda cool. Anyone here with experience in either?
Why not just put that money into a certificate program for a career you like and make a down payment on a cheap apartment in your city?
Paying for a degree in Sport and Tourism is paying for the same experience someone gets by working in a hotel getting certified in hotel management.
In 4 years, the person with the certification and work experience will have more money and will already be manager.
In 4 years, the person studying how to manage a hotel will be put into an internship rotational program with the hotel group, while having debt.
Do you seriously want to be a teacher? It sounds like you don't know, but education bachelor's degree only have one path. Most require you to then get a masters. Are you comfortable with that?
If you really want to end up in business and have a degree, consider chasing after some sort of Business Administration, Labor Relations, or Product Design.
You can still work in tourism/recreation, but those are the corporate side of the business. Leisure Sport and Tourism are the front of house management degrees that are just as worthwhile to just spend your money working and traveling to the top tier international hotels on rotation.
Source: I'm in marketing corporate at Hyatt - transferred from multiple years interning at the front of the house in speciality hotels within the same branch. My degree is in business admin.

The problem is I dont know where to go from here, im about to get my associates and am going to a 4 year and I wanted to do something I wouldnt completely hate while making good money. I thought education because itll be easy, and I didnt know much about the sports and tourism but it sounded pretty fun to me. But in the end I am really unsure and I need to decide in the next few weeks.
>>1609004
I fucking hate the way post-secondary institutions create these mickey mouse programs, it's a scam, all of it. Not that long ago if you wanted to work in the hotel business you would just get an entry level job and work your way up. Now you NEED that hotel management diploma just to get a minimum wage job working the desk, except now you're in debt. Post-secondary institutions create these programs to bring in more students, and industry goes along with it because they want new ways to screen out applicants.
how does forbes even get their information? Is it possible there is someone richer than bill gates but is not in the spotlight
Yes, Putin is estimated to have a $200 billion net worth. There's probably hundreds of others who have more than Bill Gates in illicit money.

Notice you won't find any Rothschilds/Rockerfellers on the list. Forbes even admits they have no way of verifying how much money they have so they don't include them on the list.

I lend my one year long girlfriend €1k and made her sign an agreement. (no interest)
Am I autistic for making my gf (who I trust) signing an agreement for this little amount or even for wanting the money back in the first place?
I feel like /biz/ will be on my side, but I think most people would agree with the before mentioned.
Not only /biz/ but the entire fucking planet is on your side. Dont be a scrub, what you borrow, you pay back. regardless of who they are.
no.
legally speaking it is a necessity.
$1000 is not a small amount of money, you have to hold people accountable or they could attempt to sleaze out.
You know how many people I've had borrow from me and never pay me back?
Quite a few.
Then I started playing hardball and forcing them to sign agreements.
>>1608322
Trust is a fickle thing. We need it in our day to day lives to really flourish, but it's also really meaningless because trust is such a vulnerable and easily broken thing by its very nature.
On the rational side, yes, protecting yourself with a contract is a very reasonable and good thing to do. It should almost always be done with strangers.
On the other hand, it can hurt people close to you to say you don't trust them and it can ruin relationships.
Nobody on this board is qualified to give you a set answer, in fact I'd avoid it because most people here are going to be strictly rational (they have no social point of view on your situation + 4chan is filled with bitter, misogynistic virgins and low value males who have been wronged by women), and most importantly nobody knows how your girlfriend is going to react (but you probably have a much better idea).
Some things to consider:
How badly will it hurt you to lose a grand?
Have you trusted your girlfriend with money before?
Is there a specific reason you're considering making her sign a contract in the first place?
Is forcing someone you trust to sign a contract worth hurting or even potentially losing them?
Many people are cool and understanding about signing a contract for money, including loved ones. Maybe she will, maybe she wont, but you have to bet on your gut feeling on this one.
