Would I be better off with a resume that shows a short employment gap or a resume with a job that is clearly a drop off in my experience?

For a little context, I left my job Friday, in marketing for a Fortune 500 company. They wanted to change my job (and everyone else's), so I after trying to work something out, I eventually decided it wasn't for me, and my last day is Dec. 2nd.

I don't want to panic and just take ANY full time job with a good title, only to find out I dislike it too. I found a nearby small office looking for some part time clerical/marketing work, which I'm not too good for, but I worry it would look weird on my resume and I may as well just stay unemployed.

Thoughts? My bosses promised to give me a glowing recommendation and help me find another job, and said I'm always welcome back to the company.

gaps on a resume never look good. But lying on those gaps is very easy to do. Just extend the time worked at a place or make up an employer.

As a general rule you NEVER leave an employer until you have another job lined up. It puts you in the drivers seat. Play your employer all you need to, they are not your friend.

Just keep hitting the phones and stuff until you get an interview somewhere you want to be.

>Just extend the time worked at a place or make up an employer.
This is terrible advice, especially given that OP is going for fortune 500 companies who will do background checks and anything they can't confirm gets reported - I know someone who had to signoff a hire despite the background check not being able to confirm that the candidate worked a paper round when he was 14 that was on his resume.

>>1615019
There's nothing wrong with a gap of a couple of months. It only starts looking bad if it's long enough to make people think "hmm, what did he spend this time doing?". If you're confident in your ability, you're better off spending a month searching for a job you want full time than having a job you don't really care about to distract you. Also, if you work a job for only a few months and then leave it, that looks worse than a gap, as it makes you look like the kind of guy who moves jobs a lot (unless you're a contractor).
>>
>>1615056

I get "not leaving unless you have another job," but sometimes things are SO bad that you don't have a choice, especially once you're in full career mode. You're not in the driver's seat when your current employer has done something drastic and you're suddenly desperate to leave. It prevents you from doing any research, and you're suddenly just caught in the same problem - where you left one bad organization out of desperation, and are at the mercy of your new, possibly shitty organization.

And as >>1615443 said, if you do that, you're stuck, unless you want your resume to look like shit as you jump job to job, hoping to find the right one.

hey /biz/ really fucking astonished at this "opportunity" that I have. some dude on instagram is like make money with me hit me up.
I hit him up. hes like yea man, I work at western union and i am an account manager, i divert donations into your account, then when you get it you mail me half the cash.

he wants me to mail him my debit card so he can make an $8k deposit, then after a few days the money will start to pop up and when the 8k is there I send him half.

I want to send him a debit card to a new account that has $0.00 in it and see what happens... can I get arrested or would he? did I just get duped? the fuck do I do.

4k would help me pay off a credit card tho...

This app, Slide Joy, allows you to make money by having their pop up ads on your phone.
My question is what if I gathered up a bunch of old androids and had them all do the swipe gesture 24/7
would that make me a significant amount of beer money?
Does any of you have experiences with such things and if you do did you build a rig? How much money did you make? Which website/app did you use?

Why don't you try it and find out? Just take action man, jeez.

Be sure to write a blog post about it later so everyone can take the shortcut while only you put the effort to learn everything the hard way. /s

I can almost guarantee you things are typically never as easy as they seem, especially if you've haven't put your nose to the grindstone. My advice is read every word of their ToS because if you break any of it, your account will be terminated and funds denied.

My experience is likely not yours. I played with PTC briefly when I was a teen learning about all the ways to earn money online. My time now is worth more than the few dollars it rewards you with.

I see a lot of you struggling to get jobs/interviews etc, I've done recruitment for 10 years and am thinking on capitalising this.

Do you think there is a market to charge a fee for my service? I would create/amend CV's, help interview prep etc basically guide you through the job process from start to finish

PayPal almost universally sides with the buyer, that's why there's so many scams with it.

How is that not buyer protection? People use it because they trust it. If I buy a laptop and I don't get it, I can just chargeback and get my money.

With bitcoin I'm fucked
