ITT: skills you can gain completely in the comfort of your own room and potentially earn a good salary.

>Computer programming

1 year of intense practice and you can get a job as a junior developer, or even better, create an app/website to generate money.

>Music producing

If you listen to a lot of music, download FL studio or something, and learn how to edit and produce music. At least you can get a job at a studio if you're autistic enough to learn the ins and outs but not talented enough to make any good songs.

>Languages

It takes 500-1000 hours to become fluent in most languages. After two years you can get paid to translate.

> Day trading.
You can learn the music of the markets with about 2 years of study&practice. Don't worry about losing money, you'll be practice trading with monopoly money until you've found your personal trading style.

>you'll be practice trading with monopoly money until you've found your personal trading style.

Where can I practice like that? How profitable could I expect day trading to be after a couple years of practice?
>>
>>1682149
Thing is, when you graduate from monopoly money to your own hard earned cash, you start subconsciously shitting your pants, causing you to underperform.

>Nothing more I can do in the workday, I've been out of work coming to my desk for an hour and a half but am required to be there
>Get on wikipedia instead of staring at the wall
>Supervisor at work walking by behind me, but not my supervisor
>He's half my size, a foot shorter, and balding with middle age
>Gets right up behind me and smacks his hand against his palm like he's going to hit me
>Sit up and say "Hey, what was that about?"
>He retreats back to his corner avoiding eye contact and not responding
>Avoids making the deliberate eye contact that I'm trying to make with him for the rest of the day
>Creeps over to say something to my supervisor later
>Leaves before my shift ends, where I plan to run him down and confront him about what he did

Should I go to HR or just fuck this creepy little faggot up in the parking lot during lunch break tomorrow like it's fucking high school?

the latter, then you should go to HR and fuck the HR drones on company time.

I would probably rape my HR lady if I ever had a moment with her alone. Big sexy tits and a cute face. Id lock her in a room and fuck her for hours. Too bad she avoids me.

Going to college late?

> Is it too late to start college /biz/bros?

I feel I am way more mature now with my thinking style, and that I can form better arguments, have better talking points, overall just more "evolved" than I was at 17/18 like my friends who went at that time.

Will it be hard for me to succeed since I'm starting late?

Thanks /biz/, been lurking since 17, learned a lot of neat stuff, and read countless college threads, finally asking my most pressing question.

Canadafag btw.

Lending club:

To meme, or not to meme?

They talk about paying out an average of 5-7% annual returns. Seems like a comfy place to park a few grand. Anyone do this?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
At 5% to 7% it seems like Vanguard Index funds would be a safer option.
>>
>>1681596
Index funds are correlated with the market though.
If it's a reliable and safe place to grow money I could see it being an alright option for diversification. I don't know how big the risks are.
>>
>>1681596
>>1681601
Right. I already have money in index funds and etfs but I sort of want some money not tied to what appears to be a precariously high US equities market.

How would /biz/ smuggle a kilo of cocaine from Colombia to New York City?

Price of a kilo in Colombia
>$3,300

Price of a kilo in NYC
>$33,000

Price of a kilo sold gram by gram in NYC (fishscale)
>$75,000

Price of a kilo sold gram by gram in NYC (cut)
>$100,000+

I am too little for prison. And I just say no to drugs.
>>
>>1681448
The reason the price difference is so large is that it's extremely difficult to smuggle.
Drug cartels usually use mules and just accept that some of them will be caught.
You don't have the resources for that.

Graduating this May with a degree in Supply Chain Management with an Information Systems minor. Had an internship for 6 months last year and the company offered me a job paying 50k plus bonuses and incentives. Should I take this or try and find something else?

Why aren't all economists rich?
16 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Because the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.
>>
Depends on what they did with their education. To be an "economist" nowadays you only require an undergrad, however, those that study further into a Masters, and more appropriately a PhD will reap the rewards.

After this, private companies will poach you if you've made any sort of effort to network.
>>
Most economists are marxists and believe in debt based spending.

You cant get rich giving all your money away to gib dats tax and then go into debt for consumerist waste

I have the (bad) habit of accruing debt for the month(s), then paying it all in one go.

Say I owe $700 in credit card debt for that month because I pay my expenses off with it. Then, I pay the minimum enough to skate by for that month, but pay it all in one chunk the following month using 2-3 paychecks saved up.

Is this a bad thing to do? Or will my credit be fine?

I do the same thing, except it's sometimes 2-3 months, or sometimes 5-6 months

Everyone just tells me no its bad, but I can't find anything that says it's "hurting" my credit.

I am making the minimums and I'm not 100% charged. I actually make like 2x the minimums, or 3x.

What do you mean?

I use it to pay monthly expenses, rent, food, gas, utilities, etc.

Is chartered accountancy a meme?
Is being an accountant still ""safe"""? Is it as soul destroying as normies make it out to be?

I thought of doing this because it's a good backdoor and education if I decide to start my own business in the future. Is this right?

>>
I assume you are Canadian.

Accounting is the basis on all business. A foundation in accounting is an excellent first step in a business career.
>>
Accounting is a boring job for boring people, but yes it is absolutely safe. It's in high demand and always will be, and it pays fairly well. One thing about accounting that amuses me is how most people think you need to be some sort of math genius to get into it, which is total horseshit. Accounting is arguably the best choice of career path for someone who isnt great at math.
>>
My wife is a CPA. Most people hate the work.

She is looking to move out of it to do private accounting in-house (not uncommon among CPAs).

But everyone in her graduating class got a job so yes it is safe.

how long does it take for funds to be settled after you sell a stock on scottrade? is there any brokergae that doesnt make you wait between buying and selling?
21 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1681277
Settlement times are SEC mandated, and are the same regardless of brokerage.
It can seem like you're getting around it if you have a margin account, but this is really because you're borrowing more, rather than using unsettled funds.
