I sold 10K worth of items last year through both ebay and Amazon (9k on Ebay and 1k on Amazon). After expenses my earned income is around 5K. Do I have to report this income to the IRS?

Did you take all payments through paypal? If so then its likely they've already reported your income to the IRS and you should receive some paperwork from paypal soon. Paypal reports income at $10k and up. However it's possible that you are under the reporting limit if you were rounding up the sales to $10k.

Sharks do get cancer. Saying they don't is a shit meme, like saying people physically can't get cancer of the heart.

Sharks don't get cancer, along with many other diseases. There's even been expirements where scientists have implanted tumors into sharks and their body destroys it. Sharks have a highly advanced immune system and studying their tissue is leading to new cures for a multitude of diseases.

I've never had a bad experience with craigslist.

Once you start filtering out the niggers, trailer trash, and poojets trying to sell stolen items, you won't have any problems.

I've had a few people try to change the price when I arrived, but they will always change their mind if you say you're going to walk away.

Never sold anything on craigslist, but I have tried to sell several guns on armslist and stopped because it was an absolute shit show. People offering me old tires, broken power tools, and fire wood, for my guns.
>>
>>1716355
Selling fucking sucks unless you set the price low as fuck, or you don't mind waiting around all day for people who never show up and old people who just want to talk to someone.

Buying is pretty simple.

I'm here to tell you commissioned sales is a happy medium between salaried employee and running your own business

>No risk (my base is 140k with commissions on top)
>commission for performance
>if company goes broke or you get fired, get another job
>no bullshit paperwork except your annual tax return
>because you are measured by sales results you can basically do what you want

You don't need to be a natural, sales can be taught. I'd much rather be doing this than selling Chinese crap online to earn "MUH passive income" or trading bitcoins using chart-based alchemy

I sell enterprise software. You need to get in working with a reseller first, then you can work your way up.

Once you have the experience and connections you bounce around every few years from job to job.

Forgot to mention you usually get stock options as well, not to mention an expense account for client entertainment.

Any complicated, big ticket B2B product (over 100k deal size) is a ticket to a 200k plus earning sales job.

Just finished a "application developer" course at a community college, where I learned intermediate programming in php/js and basic Java. I'm not sure which bachelor I should do now, I want to continue in IT but I don't know if I should go for a bachelor in software engineering or business IT and management. I eventually want to start my own company that develops software. Which bachelor does /biz/ think I should take? Thanks in advance!

You should spend your time writing software instead of worrying about the title of your worthless degree.
>>
>>1716169
They both have the same title anyway. I'm just asking which course biz thinks would be a better fit considering my situation
>>
>>1716190

If you're actually interested in writing software professionally, university courses will not help you. Write software in your free time, and learn from those who are better than you. Software development is a lifelong journey of learning new skills and mental models. It's not a 4 year fast-track.

How do you make friends with likeminded people focused on making money?

I have a wide range of interests and a couple small businesses online, but also an hard time meeting focused people. People that want to make money online, trading, starting businesses, etc.

There are many conferences about "entrepreneurs" where I live, but they are vanilla shit... I don't know what the fuck they talk. It's like "The Secret"... that self-help voodoo book for soccer moms.

I don't want no social media experts. I want crazy fuckers who want to make buck --without scamming me.

How do I find them?
How do you do it?

If you have nice business you should be attracting energetic people.

hey /biz/, do you have any advice for unconventional career paths to venture into investment?

tl;dr I'm a 3 time college drop out (not so much drop out as take a break and not go back for a long time) without an associate's degree, currently working as a pizza delivery driver. I'm interested in finance and investment management, but college makes me want to cut open my chest and glue my dick into my intestines.

I apply to investment jobs despite being grossly underqualified on paper, largely because you can't list your experience gained from manipulating the economy of an MMO as relevant (I'm an autist but I'm not *that* autistic.)

What would you say would be a good point of entry into the field that has a low barrier? Like a small non-profit?

Thanks for the advice.

>I apply to investment jobs despite being grossly underqualified on paper, largely because you can't list your experience gained from manipulating the economy of an MMO as relevant (I'm an autist but I'm not *that* autistic.)

Are you saying you're not autistic enough to list it as experience? Beggars can't be choosers, if that's the only experience you got, it's what you got. It might be eye catching. There might be dozens of other people applying with no experience but then this one guy with MMO experience gets attention.

They might not consider you a serious candidate if others with more real-world experience are applying, but they might give you an interview just to see you in action, in which case that's your chance to change their mind.
>>
>>1716002
When you put it that way, you raise a good point. I can prove that I have people skills despite autism in a hypothetical future interview.

Unfortunately the resume was already shot off to a listing just now, otherwise I would actually put it in there. (A shame because it showed that only one other person applied.) I'll give it a shot on the next job I see that pops up.
>>
>>1716012
Yeah sometimes that eye-catching is all you need just because the hiring manager will think "I want to check this guy out".

Also frankly, you have no idea who that person is. Presumably the hiring manager might have a decade or 2 on you in age, but there are tons of people in that category who have played WoW in the past or are just in general willing to consider unconventional experience like that. For those who aren't familiar with the game though it'd help to list specific accomplishments that anyone can understand, like if you can say something like "I drove up the price of a commodity by 3x and then sold at that price point, making x profit off a y investment".

I can't offer much in the way of your original question, but it might help if you can list instances where people trusted you with money and to make decisions with that money. Like has your pizza place taken your advice on what supplies to order before, and at what quantity? That's basically investing!

So I doubt that's your experience at the pizza place, but an entry level job elsewhere where'd you get experience to make claims like that could be useful.
