Student debt MUST be in a bubble, shit is so out of control, it has to burst soon.

All these loans to the degenerates who will absolutely never pay them back. Couple that with the impending millennial "resistance" to the government, and the word sub-prime doesn't even begin to describe these loans There must be a way to profit.

How do we short it?

Thanks, wish this board had more discussions. I should have put more >CAPSLOCK and Belfort pics in my OP.

Does anybody know if student loans are sold to invenstment bankers in the same way that mortgage backed securities were?

My understanding is groups of mortgages would be sold to an investment group as CDO's, and these CDO's are what was shorted against. Are student loans grouped together in the same manner that mortgages are?

I started to work minimum wage (aero engi here) and save some money. Despite my mild success setting some money aside I have failed my mother. My effort to get my mother to reduce her spending has been unsuccessful. She also lost her job recently and our savings are dwindling.

I am visiting her next month. My best friend is coming to dinner one day and she asked me if she should buy salmon.

How do I separate myself financially from her without hurting her? She's the only woman that has ever given half a damn for me, but I don't want to be dragged through the mud forever.

Honestly, I don't know what to do. I don't want to sound patronising, but she's like a child in many aspects. I can't actually rationally discuss anything barely stressful with her without upsetting her. In many ways she still acts like this was 2005 and she was making a living wage.

What the fuck do I do, /biz/raelites?

let the woman buy some fucking salmon. Even homeless people on food stamps can afford some fucking salmon every now and then. Is she on food stamps? get her on food stamps so she can buy some salmon without her bitch of a son getting his panties all in a bunch.

Personally I don't try to 'help' my parents unless they ask me to. They were doing this stuff before I was born. If they're not good at it now they never will be, and there's a solid chance I don't understand what they're doing or why.

It's for the best to ditch parents who are a brain or economic drain, just don't do it too harshly and do it slowly.

I never understood why Danes, or most other Northern European people, don't simply take all the free stuff until they've finished uni, then run off to somewhere with lower taxes for 30 years.
Sure, you might not be entitled to whatever state pension exists if you choose to return later, but you'd have 30 years of much lower taxes and hopefully decent savings.
Is it a culture thing?
Is it hard to establish yourself in low tax areas?

I tried scrapping stock data, but that is not sufficient.

Does /biz/ know of any other alternatives on getting cheap to free ticker data? It doesn't have to be exactly real-time just close enough.

So I'm considering buying some shares and bonds
Right now I'm considering buying 5 shares for 1000 $ and bonds for 2000 $ because it's my first time so I wanna play it safe.
Should I trust the advisor in my bank or will they try to ''cheat'' me? I'm in Scandinavia btw.

It really depends. Some banks have sales quotas and are pushing you towards certain products, though this usually happens with their own bonds or with mutual funds from their daughter companies. Other banks are pretty honest. But be aware that nobody has a crystal ball. Ultimately it's your decision and you'll be saddled with any losses. The bank doesn't really care either way. It may be honest advice, it may be honest advice but ultimately false, it may be a scam by the bank, it may be bullshit by a stupid advisor without bank involvement. Take it with a grain of salt. I wouldn't "trust" your advisor so much as I'd take their recommendations into consideration. But still do at least a cursory due dilligence on your own! For some pointers, have them explain their reasoning to you why they recommend exactly those securities and then maybe follow up on some leads they give you.

Although on your entry level with tiny investments it's usually not advised to go around an pick individual titles. You *have* to diversify to lower your risk, but each transaction racks up fees. It's usually safer and more cost effective to buy funds, especially ETFs. Unless you really know what you're doing or you have some special attachment to those 5 companies it's very very hard to beat the market on just 5 stocks.

As a beginner over-weighting bonds is a good idea, although right now is not really an optimal time. Which country are they from? The US is starting to hike interest, Europe is still a bit off, but it's coming. And when the interest rates go up, your bonds will tank (unless you don't care and want to hold until maturity anyway, but they will still pale in comparison to newly issued bonds). But again, a bond ETF may offer better diversification and targeting.

Good luck and have fun.

Im considering buying bonds in the government.
I was called by a man from my bank who suggested that we invest my money so they don't loose money so I'll see what he has to say.
I would have no idea what I would be doing if I bought stocks desu but I'm considering using a few money on some stocks still but it's a bit risky isn't?
I'm from Denmark here the average economic growth the last 10 years has been 0 % so I guess they could use my bonds but I don't really know. I'm gonna look it up lol.
Thank you for your answer :)

banks make bank by selling their clients (shit tier) products of any variety. bankployees have quota's to fulfill. also its illegal for a bank/advisor to give stock recommendations. better off trading your own plan if you are looking to invest.

>"start a business"
It makes me laugh when retards think simply starting a business is a sure fire way to get rich.
Business is one of the hardest things you can get into, overheads are pretty huge (depending on the business), hiring good staff is a bitch, and 99% of the time, someones idea of a business is starting some shitty dropshipping website or etsy store.

I should also add that B2C sucks now, tiny margins. Hardly any customers becasue cucked by big chains.

>>1751588
It's the only way to get rich, realistically. So you could spend 4 years in school and 15 year working your way up to to earn a decent living. Or you could spend 6 years starting businesses. And then you're at the top.
>>
>>1751588

people dont understand the direct correspondence between risk and reward/loss
>>
as a former employee of some small, independent run businesses I can also testity working for them is a bitch too, the margins cut your pay down to bare minimum and you get the whole life on the line vibe goin and its like, i didnt ask for this. just put me at a chain where nobody gives a fuck and they still make $10,000 a day because they are "x chain/ franchise"
